This was painful to watch. This was actually inevitable for coffeezilla as I used to hear his take on why crypto was bad and a scam because "its not USD". Which was flawed.
The main problem is coffeezilla is not dumb. He fundamentally doesn't understand the monetary system. Forget about bitcoin. You can't start a series from season 4 and expect to fully understand the character's motives.
I don't agree with fiat games being played on top of bitcoin at all, but I agree Jeff's points if compared to traditional markets.

This is awesome! Im gonna be sharing this. For most poeple, simply owning your data is the biggest first step to sovereignty outside of bitcoin. I tried nextcloud and its a huge overkill and most people will not need it unless your a business. I'm looking at alternatives like seafile or filebrowser. For images immich is hard to beat. Before all of that though, you need a NAS to store your data. Maybe even a get a hypervisor like proxmox to run all these servers. It has this amazing helper script website where you can deploy an entire service with one command.

Twitter and primal are not the same thing. Primal is based on a protocol that is designed to stop the very thing your worried about. Primal can do all they want, and it doesn't matter. You can't say the same with twitter/Facebook/Instagram etc.
I dont disagree with your issue with primal. I'm just saying, this is why nostr was made. Going to another client on nostr cant be any easier. I don't even have primal on my phone.

That would be censorship because that's a central government enforcing a law. Many in Saudi may not have access to a VPN or the means to go to Qatar but even if they can, its still against the law so that's more of a legal matter. That censorship wouldn't be very effective though.
A private company, however, who has access to billions of people's content because it resides on their server, has a far greater power. They can, with a click of a button, remove your account.
Primal is one of many nostr clients. The protocal is open source. If you use Nostr, on a regular basis, you most definetly have other clients on your phone. I can see this post on primal now, and I'm not even using it. I personally dont even like primal with all the bots following me after every post, but they don't have the ability to censor because the whole point of Nostr was for one client to not have that power. If they could censor, then nostr is a failure.

I kind of agree with Tauri, primal censorship makes no sense since its underlaying protocol is open source. Full control and a monopoly is a prerequisite for censorship.

Yeah but I mean right now there are mandates that are being passed that will require every machine that runs an OS for age verification. Basically KYC at a motherboard level (secure boot). I don’t know what that means every computer moving forward but if you can’t install whatever you want on your own machine, things might get interesting.

Yeah thanks for this, I don’t think I’ll try vegetarian for even an hour because I don’t like the preference. I personally like eating meat which is why I’m drawn more to the carnivorous side but objectively speaking, from a health perspective, everyone has a point and a study.
I listen to all these carnivore doctor, but even they differ on what’s healthy. Dr. Berry hates fruits and honey, another one says you can add fruits and eat honey, It’s so confusing.
Like i said, I might just stick to my gut on this. I heard someone say a long time I forgot who it was, everything is killing you, just pick your preference and enjoy life.

I tried to be a little healthier and eat better so naively I did some research and found out that literally everything is bad for you lol. I wish I was exaggerating.
Carnivores think vegetarian are unhealthy and vegetarian think carnivores are the spawns of the devil. You go deeper and even the healthy foods are bad because there not “natural” enough. I heard a doctor say fruits are terrible because they spike sugar levels.
I gave up, I follow my gut now and leave the rest to God.

I’ve never heard of the necessity of KYC from a business perspective very interesting. Maybe having a platform like robotsats where both entities are identified and the transaction is monitored by a third party and will not complete until both sides have agreed.

I feel like I’m the odd one out for not wanting nostr to scale like other social medias. I like things the way they are now; following the people I like, enjoying the outside world, and not being addicted to my phone. Live life!
The only way I dream of nostr scaling is communities coming together, creating a relay, and sharing value over nostr. That could be done organically and local. What’s the rush? Whatever that was meant to happen will happen anyway.

There’s too many fiat bitcoiners. I saw a guy who supposedly a “bitcoin maxi” telling his followers, you don’t have to self custody because the current system is good enough. Just get an ETF.
The ones who hate it, are looking at it from a completely different lens. Bitcoin shouldn’t even be uttered to someone who believes in MMT, Keynesian, Marxism etc. Let’s talk about value and energy first because clearly we don’t agree on how that should be distributed or how they work.

I think bitcoin mining generally is bad business because it always favours new comers as technology gets better. I think solo Mining is becoming a thing now which in time will just increase due to demand.

Exactly, there both stealing wealth but one might accelerate the inevitable while the other might slow it down giving the illusion of growth.
The illusion is credit creation, to me fractional assumes the cycle begins with the initial deposit but It actually begins with the credit. If everyone listened to Dave Ramsey and cut their credit cards after paying it back, there will be no more money left and no deposits.

Just something I was thinking when listening: I think credit creation IS the source of the problem and I think in Asian countries credit was only created for productive (in the beginning at least) which means the economies actually expanded but in the west, it went into non productive means like housing, cars, general lifestyle etc.
The think 99% of the money supply and the real source of inflation is actually from local banks giving out loans not the central bank. Every single mortgage that someone takes, every student loan, car loan, credit loan is money created out of thin air. These unproductive loans is literally why everything is so expensive.

A great point that was in the episode that I really liked was that fiat was inevitable because as our ability to communicate faster evolved, gold became more and more a technology of the past. Which is why an invention like “digital gold” is the obvious next evolution that money needs to make in the digital age!

I am listening to Peter schiff’s Tucker Carlson episode and I’m really scratching my head on this one.
I’m really open to someone who doesn’t like or agree with the Bitcoin promise, what I don’t understand is, isn’t Peter schiff supposed to be the gold guy? The Austrian economics guy ?
His arguments against bitcoin sound like he doesn’t understand the current monetary system, let alone Bitcoin, and very suspiciously Keynesian, I just have believe he has to be troll. Just the statement “they made a lot of money investing in early” really throws me off. I don’t even care if he hates bitcoin, but the way he talks sounds like he doesn’t really believe in or not understand the Austrian Econ at all.

The other issue is verifying the silver/gold coin you hold is legit. Moving across borders is a headache too.
This is how the current monetary system was born and I think most people are aware, so Bitcoin is inevitable.
