The eyeball scans measure how much time you spend actually paying attention to something. It's both creepy, and I'd really like to have that data about my own media consumption.
For example, we watched "Insidious 3" last night and I'd estimate that my eyes were on the screen 8% of the time. It's a terrible movie.

I think you're right that it trickles down to the shareholders and employees, but the same is true for buying it direct from Wal-mart.
The rich are rich because they own things: stocks, businesses, etc. That money is not sitting around doing nothing; it's the pool you are borrowing from.
