Tauri | Bitcoin BLAKE2b (XBT)

Apparently, Siacoin used to be worth about 100x more eight years ago. That means a huge pile of BLAKE2b-compatible ASICs were eventually left sitting on shelves, collecting dust.
Then Bitcoin (BLAKE2b) went live.
Suddenly, those Chinese miners discovered that their old bricks could be profitable again by mining Bitcoin. So they flooded our network looking to make a quick buck.
There was just one problem: they didn’t use tools to build their own block templates. They didn’t run their own nodes. They simply took the path of least resistance, because that’s considered common sense in virtually every shitcoin mining operation.
Imagine their confusion when they joined the party with AlphaPool on Stratum V1 and Bitcoiners immediately started pointing guns at them for attacking the network.
They were probably thinking: “WTF, guys? We’re just trying to mine. What the hell is wrong with you?”
And therein lies the problem: they didn’t understand what this chain was trying to achieve.
The entire point of Bitcoin BLAKE2b is to decentralise mining. So to Bitcoiners, thousands of machines arriving through a few Stratum V1 pools looked like an attack on a young and vulnerable network.
To the Sia miners, it was simply a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to turn obsolete hardware into an absurdly profitable mining operation.
Some YouTube channels were reporting ROI in HOURS.
Not years. Not months. Not weeks.
HOURS.
Classic Tower of Babel. Same network. Completely different mental models.
“If someone is pointing a loaded gun at your face, you don’t need to wait for them to pull the trigger before defending yourself.”
Fortunately, the situation is slowly starting to resolve.
The pool operators eventually understood the problem and put server-side caps in place, limiting how much of the network any individual pool can control. They’re also learning about DATUM, and one by one they’re starting to work on their own DATUM endpoints.
Now comes the harder part: educating the tidal wave of new miners about why they MUST build their own templates with their own nodes.
The language barrier is an obvious problem.
We need educators with a good command of Mandarin and Cantonese to step up and start educating these miners.

I’m looking forward to working with our newfound wayward friends from China. But they need to learn, and learn fast, that this is Bitcoin.
We play by different rules.
We will try to educate them.
If education fails, we will expel them.

If he makes Datum the mandatory protocol for his hashers, he can participate as much as he wants, and even if he gets to 100%, it won’t matter, because miners sending their hash will be in control, not the pool.

NonKYC.io is the third exchange to list Bitcoin (BLAKE2b).
Unfortunately, they currently list us as Bitcoin BIP110, a name we have never used. This appears to be the result of fraudulent emails from an individual calling himself Nathan, who has been falsely representing himself as part of the “official Bitcoin BLAKE2b team.”
There is no official Bitcoin BLAKE2b team, and bitcoinbip110.org is not an official Bitcoin BLAKE2b website. Please treat information coming from this source with extreme caution.
More importantly, two of the three exchanges currently listing Bitcoin (BLAKE2b) have already adopted XBT.
We’d like NonKYC to correct the listing and follow the emerging standard by using XBT consistently across its spot market, API and market data.

I’ve never used the Knots wallet, and it’s anything like the core wallet, it’s probably trash. But if you make it work, I don’t see why not. Shrike is a fork of Sparrow, so it’s super familiar for most users.

If you have a direct contact with AlphaPool, please reach out to them and ask them to adopt DATUM. Point them to the benefits of decentralized block construction and encourage them to make the switch. Every pool that moves away from SV1 makes the network stronger.
Widespread DATUM adoption is ultimately what separates Bitcoin (BLAKE2b) from Bitcoin (SHA-256d).
No more broken Stratum V1 schemes. We either decentralize mining from the beginning, or eventually end up right back where we started.

The same thing applies to AlphaPool. This is a call to all mining plebs: if you’re mining with PyBlock or AlphaPool, consider switching to RATUM Prime or similar DATUM based pool until Convoy is ready. We can’t afford to F this up again. Stratum V1 needs to go for good.

It’s similar, but not quite. Bitcoin (BLAKE2b) is still connected to the old chain (SHA256) and transactions made on the old one get repeated on the new one. You need two wallets and two nodes to securely split the coins on the two chains if you intend to sell one of them.

Instead of using PyBlock (Stratum V1 pool) you can use RATUM Prime (DATUM pool) to mine.
We should not let Stratum V1 become popular on this chain. It’s what ruined SHA256 chain. The more people abandon SV1 and adopt DATUM, the stronger Bitcoin (BLAKE2b) becomes in time. LFG

What kind of setup you have for a core full node that currently costs $100? The best I could manage is about $450 with a refurbished laptop, 16GB or RAM and a 2TB ssd. I doubt anything available for $100 will let you sync a full node from scratch. Those days are long gone.

What I like about it is that it actually looks like a gold coin. Felt appropriate to return to it, since we’re on track to become a real cryptocurrency again, rather than a “digital asset/capital/collateral”, or whatever other BS the suits come up with.

Where is the value loss against Bitcoin that you speak of? The chart is green on all time frames. Not to mention we’re still in a bear market and Bitcoin was pumping hard the last couple of weeks. And btw, I hold zero Monero. Trying to be objective here. Ever since Bitcoin allowed to be used for spam instead of money, both Monero and Gold massively outperformed it.

Yeah, we were naive to think the pool cartel wouldn’t dare to attack the network this blatantly. In fact, we didn’t even think there was a catel. The folks that “warned” this “could” happen, *knew* this would happen. They were on the inside, lobbying behind closed doors and promising bail-outs if some pool(s) breaks ranks. I’m pretty sure that was the whole idea of the “security consortium” commitment of $15M. Unfortunately, we only have circumstantial evidence. But I’ve seen enough weird shit in the past few years to believe this was just a bunch of coincidences.

Yeah, exactly. Some other users have expressed the opinion that some state agencies might consider their services as a defacto coinjoin service.
