Last Notes npub1kl8aguhljq6yrmrv64dm2phew3pprfhx3ef9yh2zg3gkn0dq8adqzfq497 TheBitcoinBattery Bitcoin was created to avoid relying on financial institutions which consistently violate the trust placed into them. Bitcoiners have turned hardware wallet manufacturers into the new banks for the new money, in this case the trust in the hardware was violated and your solution is to go back to custodians? Missing the point entirely. But I can understand why, you do you. npub1kl8aguhljq6yrmrv64dm2phew3pprfhx3ef9yh2zg3gkn0dq8adqzfq497 TheBitcoinBattery At best they'll offer real quality BIPs that the network will reject or accept, or they'll fork themselves into a shitcoin and the stronger decentralized Bitcoin will win as usual. https://blossom.primal.net/8a50c447539383e7f1ee5700b0896caa76ca4f3ab60739063b8898dd24e8117c.mp4 npub1kl8aguhljq6yrmrv64dm2phew3pprfhx3ef9yh2zg3gkn0dq8adqzfq497 TheBitcoinBattery It do be like that. #nevent1q…5g9x npub1kl8aguhljq6yrmrv64dm2phew3pprfhx3ef9yh2zg3gkn0dq8adqzfq497 TheBitcoinBattery The most frustrating thing about being a Bitcoin maxi is how it makes you into an extremely low time preference individual in a society that values extreme high time preference. But the frustration is ironically coming from the high time preference of wanting others to become low time preference 😂. Bitcoin is the ultimate low time preference money, but paying with Bitcoin requires the receiver to understand it enough to be able to provide a receiving address, or to at least use a payment processor that supports it. Then it requires that they understand how to safely hold it over time assuming they don't immediately convert it into fiat. In a high time preference society where people don't take the time to understand money, they just want paper cash or tap to pay plastic, this is very difficult to do. Especially with how many scammers and shitcoiners their are preying on the ignorance of the average person, which makes Bitcoin off-putting by association. I want to help the person in front of me with something that holds it's value better than fiat, and that doesn't fund wars and corruption. If I'm tipping $5 nobody wants to accept a silver dime, and I don't want to tip in paper or on a card, and they don't understand Bitcoin enough nor desire to spend the time learning it. I think my happy medium is the 1/4 Goldback. I like the fact that I can hand someone a sorta-spendable piece of art worth $2 that is made of $1 worth of Gold, so I hand them out as tips all the time (I ask if they'd accept it first). Usually I do it along with a $2 bill and a copper half dollar so it's a mix pack of different small units of money. Usually I ask if they accept Bitcoin or Goldbacks, I show Goldbacks and they say no. If it's a cashier at a counter service restaurant I just hand them cash, and when I pickup the food I ask if I can tip them a 1/4 Goldback and maybe hand it to them with at least one half dollar. Take 5 seconds. If it's a sit down restaurant I'll explain the history of sound money and show them old silver coins, I'll them explain Goldbacks as kind of an attempt to return currency to it's roots in gold, and I'll ask them if they would like to receive their tip in Goldbacks or cash or a mix of the two. They often request a mix of the two, and it feels good to introduce a unit of sound money into the economy. Spending paper and copper feels like burning money, as over the long term that's basically what happens to their value. At least with a 1/4 Goldback, the gold helps the note hold it's value against inflation which is a good happy medium in my book. npub1kl8aguhljq6yrmrv64dm2phew3pprfhx3ef9yh2zg3gkn0dq8adqzfq497 TheBitcoinBattery Hey Daniel, hope your doing well. Been off Nostr for a while, just getting back on to post my thoughts, appreciate the reply. Religion implies blind faith, understanding cause and effect and it's long term repercussions is anything but blind faith. You are right nothing is truly guaranteed, which is why I said it's all but guaranteed. I view Bitcoin's long term network effects as incredibly difficult to stop, it's not impossible that Bitcoin fails at freeing humanity from itself but it's not something individuals can really do anything about or should worry about. It's a global movement and there will either be enough individuals who do something or there won't be, you can help move the needle in the direction of success by stacking sats and running nodes, and by engaging in discourse online and in person. But ultimately it's success is out of our control, and understanding that is what is capable of bringing us peace. "Do not seek for things to happen as you wish, but wish for things to happen as they do happen, and your life will go well." - Epictetus npub1kl8aguhljq6yrmrv64dm2phew3pprfhx3ef9yh2zg3gkn0dq8adqzfq497 TheBitcoinBattery The only things I enjoy spending my Bitcoin on are: food, bills, medical/dental care, and physical precious metal products. There's no world in which I would endure hunger or physical pain from medical issues just to continue holding Bitcoin, as revolutionary as it is it's just money and there's no shame in actually using it to take care of yourself. There's also no shame in using your Bitcoin to buy other forms of physical value storage that have historically held a place in prosperous societies and will hold a place again in the future on a global Bitcoin standard. IMO the rise of Bitcoin will coincide with a resurgence of precious metal currencies. But instead of the precious metals being the ultimate store of value, they will become treated like cash is today. Just as you don't want to hold too much cash today and want to spend it, the same will be true of the "cash" of the future. Smart people will trade their excess gold and silver for Bitcoin, just as smart people trade their excess cash for assets today. Gold loses value against Bitcoin faster than cash loses value against gold, only gold is able to support a happy long life while paper cash cannot. In a world with a Bitcoin standard, you can use Bitcoin in place of gold as the pinnacle of value storage and just spend gold into the economy. Those who do not understand Bitcoin, can use gold to support a happy life until they learn to understand why Bitcoin is trustworthy. There is value in transferring value without the aid of a computer, physical currency is more intuitive and easier to understand and that's okay. Both will have their place in the economy to come. npub1kl8aguhljq6yrmrv64dm2phew3pprfhx3ef9yh2zg3gkn0dq8adqzfq497 TheBitcoinBattery Bitcoin's success is all but guaranteed over the long term. The math is sound, the distribution and control is decentralized, the economic incentives are strong, and the need is great. I've made predictions in the past, they turned out incorrect. I think the failure is trying to put Bitcoin into predicted specific outcomes when it should be looked at more elastically. Bitcoin is on the path to some day bring the world into a new age of energy abundance. Not just in creation and usage, but in storage as well. Do things, don't do things, the end result of global Bitcoin dominance will still occur according to cause and affect. Focus on your family, your health (mental/physical), and defend your future by building your stack enough to be ready for anything. npub1kl8aguhljq6yrmrv64dm2phew3pprfhx3ef9yh2zg3gkn0dq8adqzfq497 TheBitcoinBattery Unfortunately the 5% yield is less than 7% real inflation so still losing ground in that case. But the principle of buying assets and delaying gratification is 💯. npub1kl8aguhljq6yrmrv64dm2phew3pprfhx3ef9yh2zg3gkn0dq8adqzfq497 TheBitcoinBattery Tired of cults controlling everything. Haven't published anything. I think I'm going to change my methods, instead of writing a single book I'll publish articles/reads on Nostr and maybe other sites like substack. Inspired by Parker Lewis turning a bunch of his articles into his book titled "Gradually, Then Suddenly". Any advice on that from my Nostr peeps? npub1kl8aguhljq6yrmrv64dm2phew3pprfhx3ef9yh2zg3gkn0dq8adqzfq497 TheBitcoinBattery This is HUGE news. I can't wait to see the button in the wild. #nevent1q…xcmf npub1kl8aguhljq6yrmrv64dm2phew3pprfhx3ef9yh2zg3gkn0dq8adqzfq497 TheBitcoinBattery Stealing this. #nevent1q…vkr7 npub1kl8aguhljq6yrmrv64dm2phew3pprfhx3ef9yh2zg3gkn0dq8adqzfq497 TheBitcoinBattery Bitcoin is money. The stock market is gambling with money. The stock market is from what I can tell currently in a 90s era style tech bubble, generally in these situations gamblers ("I'm smart") or people who don't know any better move their money into said stocks. Doing so reduces demand for money and increases demand for the stocks. Bitcoin is down IMO primarily because the stock market is going crazy and people are jumping out of the "dead/boring" Bitcoin and gambling it into stocks. But stocks aren't money, stocks aren't scarce, stocks are massively overexposed to the centralized and manipulatable debt based paper instruments in which they are often measured. There's no fundamental reality-based reason why the stocks are going up so much, while there are fundamental reality based reasons why Bitcoin goes up in value over time: Programmed increasing valuation against time and energy. Limited supply. Proof of work issuance. Decentralized program updates. Etc. Eventually this stock FOMO and Bitcoin FUD will experience a massive reversal, at that time people will rush out of stocks and back into money and debt based centralized paper instruments they've been conditioned to see as money. But Bitcoin, with it's concretely inelastic supply, will benefit the most. The entire world has never been more interconnected, productive, or technologically advanced as it is today all while the majority of people struggle to survive because they don't have sound money. 9 billion individuals, in order to conduct transactions with one another in the largest free market economy the world has ever seen, are in desperate need for decentralized sound money. The world doesn't need stocks, AI, or data centers, it needs money. Bitcoin is money. npub1kl8aguhljq6yrmrv64dm2phew3pprfhx3ef9yh2zg3gkn0dq8adqzfq497 TheBitcoinBattery Not just savings, self custody is even more foreign to slugs. npub1kl8aguhljq6yrmrv64dm2phew3pprfhx3ef9yh2zg3gkn0dq8adqzfq497 TheBitcoinBattery Bitcoin is the invention of financial fire. So far this has meant the entire network of batteries have become more and more energized with value, regardless of how much value they themselves took to produce at the time. Satoshis are batteries that store the value of the time and energy needed to produce the most recently generated units, this is why the network value tends to rise with the hashrate and diminishing output of Satoshis in return for that hashrate. The economy has always looked to the materials that store the most economic energy, for they serve as the hub of the economy that everything else orbits. Like an economic solar system with the most valuable network of trade units at the center. Unfortunately, because they've historically always been physical, the capture of the trade unit hub by those with the most ability to call upon physical violence was assured, giving rise to organized crime/government who centralized and controlled the creation and distribution of these units. But there has never in history been a government that did not get greedy and destroy the value of their trade unit, which usually destroys the thriving economies that surround them. When the value of the hub declines, so does the overall economy. Bitcoin is the ultimate hub, who's value is programmed to go up overtime and this changes everything. Who's existence is not in the material world but who's creation is anchored in it. Hard capped, proof of work, halving, decentralized, freedom units. Always easier to get today than 5 or more years in the future, globally needed and accessable. The rise of Bitcoin into a truly magnificent hub of value, will coincide with the decline of the greatest form of organized crime (governments) and the entire world will be better for it. "A new Golden age" doesn't even come close to what's accelerating towards human civilization in the 4th dimension of time. A new age of abundance around the hub of Bitcoin, not just of food and things but of time, which will bring humanity to it's Pax Humana. The Bitcoin batteries are forever charging, forever growing in energy density, forever spreading around the world, forever increasing freedom for all who are brave enough to learn and partake. npub1kl8aguhljq6yrmrv64dm2phew3pprfhx3ef9yh2zg3gkn0dq8adqzfq497 TheBitcoinBattery Also, Moneros permanent and unchanging tail emissions have frozen the value and prevent the exponential growth in network value relative to input that the Bitcoin halving provides. As Bitcoin grows, Monero stagnates. npub1kl8aguhljq6yrmrv64dm2phew3pprfhx3ef9yh2zg3gkn0dq8adqzfq497 TheBitcoinBattery Monero means well, but on chain traceability of balances is necessary to ensure there are no inflation bugs. Plus, only the largest balances (banks, nation states, and corporations) really get watched and those are the ones that the world needs to know about and shouldn't be hidden. Plebs benefit from the pseudonymity of Bitcoin, because the big players can't hide from all of our eyes. npub1kl8aguhljq6yrmrv64dm2phew3pprfhx3ef9yh2zg3gkn0dq8adqzfq497 TheBitcoinBattery There is no second best. npub1kl8aguhljq6yrmrv64dm2phew3pprfhx3ef9yh2zg3gkn0dq8adqzfq497 TheBitcoinBattery This is a fiat conference, not a real Bitcoin conference. I think the situation in Iran cutting off their internet access for almost two months now, has been on my mind and makes me reconsider my previous stance on being 100% in Bitcoin. Bitcoin is without any serious challenger in the space of serving as the ultimate store of value, for anyone looking to preserve value over several years and decades, and it will certainly become the world's default medium of exchange before long. But in the interim governments will become more desperate and more unstable along with their citizens as their money collapses further, and if the internet gets cut and bills need to be paid then having physical sound money as a backup gives me some peace of mind while also still insulating from the debasement of the fiat money printer. I also just like coins, I like gold, silver, and history. So stacking old and new silver coins is just an enjoyable hobby for me as well as backup savings. Lastly, when your Bitcoin stack grows it just doesn't really feel like anything because all the value is intangible. Making a fraction of your wealth physical, like say 5%, can help us visualize and understand exactly what it is we have. npub1kl8aguhljq6yrmrv64dm2phew3pprfhx3ef9yh2zg3gkn0dq8adqzfq497 TheBitcoinBattery Monk fruit and stevia in the prebiotic sodas, though I am trying to get my sister's family to stop drinking Costco boxes of HFCS sodas and got them the zero sugar kind made of artificial sweeteners and I had some of those as well. Don't have the new prebiotic sodas more than once a day. Very uncomfortable bloating will result until you pull your head out of your ass and realize that the discomfort you're feeling is indeed bloating and that the prebiotics in the sodas are the cause... 🥤😁🥤😄🥤🙂🥤🫤🥤🙁🥤☹️🥤😨🥤🥴🥤😮💨😣💩😯🤔(🥤🥤🥤🥤)🤦 😅🤣 npub1kl8aguhljq6yrmrv64dm2phew3pprfhx3ef9yh2zg3gkn0dq8adqzfq497 TheBitcoinBattery Bitcoin saves us from the new dark ages. The fall of "Rome" isn't going to drag the entire world down with it's bad money this time. npub1kl8aguhljq6yrmrv64dm2phew3pprfhx3ef9yh2zg3gkn0dq8adqzfq497 TheBitcoinBattery Bitcoin is mathematically enforced scarcity relative to time and energy and whatever value society gives those things at the time. Over time energy prices tend to go down, but the amount of energy competing for Bitcoin goes up on average more than the value falls, coupled with a programmed reduction of block subsidy output against time every 210k blocks, and you get near certainty that over the decades the value of Bitcoin will grow against everything else humanity produces. As you begin to truly understand this and find you have enough sats to live slowly, meaningfully, frugally, uncompromised on the hardest and most honest money, I would suggest stacking silver coins from your largest local mint. For those of us in the United States this means old silver coins from pre-1965 and new Silver Proof coins minted from 1992 onward. These coins often have no premium, if you pay attention you'll often be able to find them at or even below their current silver melt value meaning they are treated as nothing but the raw metal in terms of market value. Become familiar with the various methods of verifying the coins you receive for true silver content, understand the look of copper-clad vs silver coins by checking the edge, understand the difference in how they sound when dropped, and how they feel when held. To have savings that bring true peace of mind, you have to make your savings real. Holding real physical silver coins, and even gold for those stackers with truly substantial holdings, truly feels magical and connecting to a time in history when society used quality money in everyday commerce. npub1kl8aguhljq6yrmrv64dm2phew3pprfhx3ef9yh2zg3gkn0dq8adqzfq497 TheBitcoinBattery I guess I don't understand your point, do you disagree? I'm talking about this specific scenario: hyperinflation in paper, no internet access and I need to pay my bills at home. In this scenario I can't access my Bitcoin at home, it doesn't matter if it's hard to travel with substantial silver or gold holdings because I'm not traveling.
