And this is why you now have Liberated Systemd, a fork of systemd without Age verification.. which IS 'hilariously pointless and ineffective' at saving children

Honestly.. at first i was surprised (and disappointed) at some major Linux distributions not having a clear answer to age verification laws after weeks of their announcement, but then lots of them started discussing them. really! discussing them! what's there to be discussed?

Did you know that #systemd already has `emailAddress`, `realName`, and `location` fields? but they where never meant for home users, only enterprise workflows, so adding `birthDate field` isn't really much work, and you could see why systemd doesn't consider that bloat
And this is exactly why systemd is bloated because it doesn't consider lots of things to be bloat in the first place
It's never a good idea to rely on software that serves corporations best interests, because corporations care about profit not principles, #FOSS principles.

Only thing i found that does something similar and provides normies with great security and privacy without much hassle is GrapheneOS using their web installer, escaping big tech and basically every US surveillance agency is possible on mobile
to answer your question (in regards to serverOS) I have dabbled with server dashboards OS's, like CasaOS.. they require running Ubuntu Server or any other Linux server OS, they make things easier with a GUI.. but.. let me ask this question, how many people can install Ubuntu server (which uses a terminal based installer)?

Every service should be made easier to be selfhosted, a blog, a video platform, messaging platform.. whatever..
If it can't be done by a GUI and by a step by step (click, next, finish aka the windows way) it's not user friendly

certified UX designer speaking here, the number one priority when designing an app is to put the user front and center, this is challenging because what works and makes sense to me doesn't work or make sense to a lot of people, this is why we do something called "user research" more specifically "interviews" something that is not possible to do if you're a solo designer, since you'll have to compensate people for their time, this works by watching and interviewing people while they do something you asked them to do, sometimes you need to play some games with them to see what makes sense from their perspective, an example of this is giving them small pieces of paper with words written on them and ask them to put thing that seem related to each other in different cups (useful for designing menus and submenus or a settings page.. etc), there are ways to see how people think about interfaces.. but the point is it's not a guess game and even when we don't have the resources (which a company does) to perform a user research there are ways to know how people will interact with UI, and there are guidelines that are proven to work, why do you think the hamburger menu (three lines stacked on top of each other) is used basically everywhere!
I would say if you want to win the NPCs, AVOID and I repeat AVOID showstopper events, this could be buggy software that prevents the user from accomplishing a certain task, (example: signing in to Signal and not receiving the SMS codes) that's a showstopper, you can avoid that by eliminating the phone number requirement or just offering a skip option to not use a phone number
another mistake I see a lot is using too much text to describe something, STOP doing that Foss devs, use illustrations instead (why do you think tech companies hire illustrators?) drawings help the user understand the message much more quicker than reading a small paragraph

writing an #introduction while trying to say as little as possible sure seem challenging now that I'm about to do it..
I stumbled upon #nostr in 2023 on a censored Mastodon server, which I think was called bitcoiner dot social or dot net... anyways.. server appeared to be run by the same guys behind #Bitcoin .Review, they said "nostr is the future" (I liked that confidence)
I tried Nostros and Amethyst back then, and everything felt kinda sluggish, so i thought this is not for me.. a year later, things have improved significantly :D
I started my journey in tech in UX/UI design, as i was learning about dark patterns in design, I felt the need to up my cybersecurity skills, though it wasn't the first time that i felt the need to do something about my privacy, i was always a privacy conscious individual.
as i was learning cybersecurity, i realized that there's more angles to look from to really understand the dilemma of tech in general, politics, philosophy, psychology, human rights.. etc.. this explains how I picked my name :)
I'm planning to be a certified technologist by the end of june, failure is not an option 😼

hehe, that would be awesome, but honestly i don't think it's necessary to mention them since this can happen to anyone regardless of what banking institution they use..
the moral of the story is that we're using a transaction system that's unforgivably flawed on so many levels (privacy, transparency, ownership, safety.. etc) and it's all legal because it's satisfies the governments need.. which is control
when a company does something evil, we boycott them, we vote with our money, but when the money is funny, the solution is that we opt for better money.. now people on ##nostr say #bitcoin is it. I'm still studying so I can verify this claim, but for now I'm satisfied with the current findings.

If you publish this on a normie platform, people would not understand your point.. they're conditioned to share, to open up, to upload their lives.
It's really hard to make someone understand, to wake them up to the reality of surveillance, you have to be really patient with them, or you'll lose them, with time they'll understand why you say: No.
