I played like 20 hours of Palworld over the last 2 days. The crafting and base building elements are not my cup of tea at all but I liked the combat and the exploration (with basically infinite stamina). I hate that this game couldn't have just been 3D faux Pokemon and had to be fucking minecraft of the wild instead but whatever. I'm just happy Nintendo is mad about it.
I got to the 8th tower boss but I'm way underpowered to be able to solo the fight considering there's a 5 minute timer and I can't get the boss below 40% hp in that time. Oh well; moving on.

I have a good relationship with my dad but I'm pretty sure he's technically a millionaire now and has never offered to help me financially. I don't think the thought has ever crossed his mind, nor would I even accept money from him. I just liked some of what they did. The combat is really solid, better than I expected, and the visuals and music are really high end too. It's the other changes they made that suck so much ass. Negrifying a chunk of the NPCs and fucking with the plot are inexcusable. It'll take heavy modification to fix if it ever happens but I want to believe it can and will with how autistic the longtime fans are.

Yeah the plot deviations suck and are completely needless. I just really like action games especially when they have complex strategy options like the remake did. The combat really was stellar. I love the original and always will but turn based combat with random encounters feels like such a slog to me these days. I just can't bring myself to play those games anymore.

I actually really liked the remake for the updated combat but the endless nonsense side content they added really hampered the experience. I'm slightly hopeful that modders will someday take the finished product, chop out all of the BS, and stitch it back together as one complete game that more or less represents the original game. If they can make that happen, it'll be glorious.
