The apocrypha area in the dragonborn dlc in skyrim is interesting because its named the apocrypha which usually means the collection of books that aren't considered canon by the catholic church. ds3 does a good job of keeping some of the old stuff while adding new areas. You play through anor londo but mostly different areas of anor londo that you couldn't explore in ds1 that were in the videogame's skybox out of view or didn't exist, like the sewers for example.

One more thing ds2 has going for it is that the bearer of the curse is smarter than the ashen one or the chosen undead because he doesn't burn himself to death and he killed the burnt ivory king which while not the strongest boss in the series is the strongest according to the lore because the ashen one and the chosen undead wouldn't be able to even enter his area without dying instantly.

It suffered from Miyazaki and his more experienced devs being busy with bloodborne while it was made, awful hitboxes, and filler bosses, but it still has some of the strengths that other souls games have ( the ost sounds good, unique areas, and it has at least a few really good boss fights, there's also the twinblade which is a fun weapon.

in ds1 there's a number of bosses whose tails you can cut. Kalameet's tail in the dlc, you need to cut it for the weapon, do not kill him before cutting it because the reward for killing kalameet is just a ring that makes your life worse, his tail weapon is really good.

ds2, moderately okay game but the worst of the dark souls games. Miyazaki and his team were busy making bloodborne while ds2 was being made so it was given to the backup team to make it, the results are a lot of forgettable bosses ( congregation, 3 rat bosses, skeleton lords were a glorified mob turned into a boss, belfry gargoyles, old dragonslayer, twin dragonrider, ) really janky hitboxes ( fume knight comes to mind ). The pvp was good, and the pursuer was iconic, but i prefer ds3 and ds1.

I think its possible he was.
