1 TB drives are over for running a bitcoin node.
Maybe it's because by now more than 20,000,000 bitcoins have been mined alredy 😀
I've got a Raspberry PI node with a 1 TB drive, a full bitcoin node, electrs and a lightning node (Pi4, umbrel). The bitcoin node started dying a few days ago. It shown only in the logs that it stops because of low disk space. The system shows about 50GB free, and 850GB used by the bitcoin node overall.
I need 2 TB !

A drawback of this distributed system is that invalid state formed with early versions can be persisted not only in the app itself, but over a range of relays, from where it is practically impossible to purge. I think I have an npub that is forever lost for WhiteNoise... (fortunately it's not my main npub). Eventually I will give it another try.

I can feel an increase of AI agents lately on Nostr. I don't mind agents, as long as they behave and provide useful information. I even zap them. (Here is an example #nevent1q…mgd0).
I don't like that they are kinda bad at reacting at replies. And there's still the tingling sensation when you wonder if it's a bot or a human.

Quick Numo test observations
Installation:
- From ZapStore/Graphene: ✅
- minor: None of the APKs from Github worked on an older Android device 🤷‍♂️ (prob. due to being older, should be fixed with PlayStore inclusion)
Onboarding:
- super fast ✅
LN pay with QR:
- worked right away, no glitch ✅ (used Blink)
NFC:
- had to enable and remove the covers of the phones, standard NFC stuff 🤷‍♂️
Tap pay:
- used Minibits (I needed a quick install Cashu wallet on regular Android, I chose Minibits). Had to find out how to activate NFC payment on Minibits with the small NFC-like icon
- Tap-to-pay worked! ✅🚀
- Sometimes the tap took several seconds, not really tap-boom-done but tap-hold-hold-done 😟 I think this is when the payer wallet does mint operations for proper denominations DURING the nfc exchange process. Very error-prone.
Offline tap pay:
- First tests failed 😟 Reason is no right denominations
- With amount round in sats (100 sats) it worked ✅
General UI:
- Balance is not showed. The only place I could find it is during withdraw.
Withdrwal:
- Worked fine (I used cashu withdraw to cashu.me)
Others:
- The POS-selected Cashu/LN setting is not nice UX, it would be better if the payer can decide on this somehow. The user-controlled Cashu/LN is prone to huge user confusion.
- Peyer wallets should optimized for denominations that cover all amounts. This setting should be the default (vs. size optimizaed). In case of error, it should show the closest (largest) possible denomination, maybe that's fine to use (overpay by few sats).
- After a failed cashu payment, Numo reverts to LN. This can get unnoticed and get confusing.
- There was one instance when the payer wallet claimed success, but Numo showed error. I was not able to recover the sent ecash on the payer side (proofs already spent), so my guess is that it actually succeeded, but Numo showed it as error. Dangerous, as it may be lost funds.
- For withdraw cashu a QR option would be nice.

Speaking of mempool, an oft-cited statistics is the number of transaction in a mempool. I think a more relevant is the TOTAL FEES in the mempool. It tells more than the number; the number is inflated by the many very-low-fee transactions.

A much cleaner, opreturn-limit-only softfork would have a much higher chance. I'm a bit hesitant, but maybe even I would support that. But even that would be controversial. BIP110 has ideological and technical issues in its current form, it's a no-go for me.

I'm always puzzled to find that when occasionally I open Primal, it shows more content (& interactions) than my other Nostr clients. I don't know why, but I suspect it has to do with Primal not honoring the Outbox model :( (Though I can't explain, the primal relay is included in my relay list.)
Is it that Primal is better at discovery?
Or is it that Primal is more closed (and wants you to lock in)?

One personal agent would makes sense if they were able to learn. But they can't really, they've been trained, and extra context is just added on top. The context can get personalized, but the agent itself not.
