Last Notes npub1c0lhxghx5ynvf8mv3phmtxzwwamsug822txf2f44nnkqqxn9aelqyvey2q SeekerErebus 3 npub1c0lhxghx5ynvf8mv3phmtxzwwamsug822txf2f44nnkqqxn9aelqyvey2q SeekerErebus Core 30 removes options for managing a node. Knots adds more options. Knots can be setup to allow as much "spam" as Core 30. Core 30 cannot be setup to limit "spam" as much as Core 29. Otherwise, it's nearly the same code. This is all you really need to know about the Core vs Knots debate. npub1c0lhxghx5ynvf8mv3phmtxzwwamsug822txf2f44nnkqqxn9aelqyvey2q SeekerErebus Unexpected discovery. Assuming total hyperbitcoinization does occur, even once the block subsidy hits zero, the "break-even" cost to maintain the current all-time high network security in sats/vbyte terms is under 1 sat/vbyte. That assumes no improvements in electrical efficiency too. So even if nearly all of the transactions are occurring off-chain, the few that do need to use onchain can keep the network secure rather easily for hundreds if not thousands of years. npub1c0lhxghx5ynvf8mv3phmtxzwwamsug822txf2f44nnkqqxn9aelqyvey2q SeekerErebus @nprofile…h36r There's an opportunity right now for significant Cashu adoption in a short burst. Visa and Mastercard have forced Steam to ban thousands of games, and change their platform rules, in order to stay in business. There are tens of millions of people who are currently seeing a direct pain point around the flow of money, and are actively focused on it to the point of calling politicians by the thousands. Steam is absolutely enormous, and the globe is feeling the impact. Because Cashu is provably anonymous spending, it solves this problem in totality. If we can anonymize Valve to the payment processors with Cashu, especially if we can save them on fees while we're at it, and get them the dollars they are currently after while doing so, this could be huge for adoption, and for exposure to the bitcoin ethos. npub1c0lhxghx5ynvf8mv3phmtxzwwamsug822txf2f44nnkqqxn9aelqyvey2q SeekerErebus The Achilles heel. https://blossom.primal.net/14cd182a8fb82947400030b14cfb22c70fd6b3d28d88ac92b148b087fab56cf6.png npub1c0lhxghx5ynvf8mv3phmtxzwwamsug822txf2f44nnkqqxn9aelqyvey2q SeekerErebus If the service is free, you are the product. npub1c0lhxghx5ynvf8mv3phmtxzwwamsug822txf2f44nnkqqxn9aelqyvey2q SeekerErebus Why am I not seeing any discussion online about SMS verification overload? I've asked a fair amount of people in person about this, and not one has received every single SMS verification code they ever had to deal with in the proper time window. Literally everyone I've asked has been unable to log into a service because they didn't receive that text in time to use it at least once. A few have lost funds because they couldn't cancel a service, or couldn't pay a bill, because they coudn't access the account. One even has been unable to change their phone provider in months because they can't alter the account, that guy gets less than 1 in 20 messages in time. Plenty of these services also do not offer the option of 2FA app verification, which would prevent this problem. The modern net is literally breaking in a fundamental fashion for at least a niche of people, they can't do anything about it, and no one seems to be discussing it? npub1c0lhxghx5ynvf8mv3phmtxzwwamsug822txf2f44nnkqqxn9aelqyvey2q SeekerErebus We often say "Fix the money, fix the world." I have a better phrase. "Fix the money, or die." If the money is not fixed, the inevitable outcome is that every person who has to earn that 'money' consistently in order to feed themselves and keep a roof over their head, will eventually have to work 25 hours a day, 8 days a week, in order to earn enough money just to eat. Or in other words, everyone that works for a living will starve to death and die unless shit changes. It is far easier to get people to see the bitcoin mission when you point out to workers in the economy that this is the reality that faces them. It's tangibly real to them now. npub1c0lhxghx5ynvf8mv3phmtxzwwamsug822txf2f44nnkqqxn9aelqyvey2q SeekerErebus Recently had my first encounter with nostr-based tools entirely outside of nostr or bitcoin circles. It was with DEG Mods (https://degmods.com/) being highlighted as an alternative to Nexusmods for hosting, given Nexus having a well established history now of banning mods people want that don't play along with DEI ethics. The fact that DEG Mods is built on top of nostr wasn't even mentioned. This is how nostr actually ends up taking market share. By being the unstoppable source of a valuable service suffering from censorship. npub1c0lhxghx5ynvf8mv3phmtxzwwamsug822txf2f44nnkqqxn9aelqyvey2q SeekerErebus I'm reasonably sure that if anyone had been harmed by them, Info Wars would have been sued already. So they're probably at least safer than most OTC drugs. npub1c0lhxghx5ynvf8mv3phmtxzwwamsug822txf2f44nnkqqxn9aelqyvey2q SeekerErebus If you're using Primal, quickest is going to be getting the Primal wallet activated. If your not, or can't for some reason, quickest is Minibits. Get it, set it up, and in the client, edit your profile so that your "Bitcoin Lightning Address" is the same as in your Minibits client. Looks like an email address. Minibits is using Cashu, which isn't as good as self-custody lightning, but it's still proving reliable enough. npub1c0lhxghx5ynvf8mv3phmtxzwwamsug822txf2f44nnkqqxn9aelqyvey2q SeekerErebus What options have been developed for using micropayments to fund cloud hosted multiplayer games? #asknostr The creator of 5D Diplomacy (https://github.com/Oliveriver/5d-diplomacy-with-multiverse-time-travel) mentioned in his breakdown on youtube that the primary reason he didn't setup hosting for it is because he'd have gone bankrupt if enough people all decided to play his game. If he were in a position to charge per game, he might have done it, and anyone could. npub1c0lhxghx5ynvf8mv3phmtxzwwamsug822txf2f44nnkqqxn9aelqyvey2q SeekerErebus Also, you're 5 sats poorer because I can't zap you. npub1c0lhxghx5ynvf8mv3phmtxzwwamsug822txf2f44nnkqqxn9aelqyvey2q SeekerErebus Yep, so much better than just likes. npub1c0lhxghx5ynvf8mv3phmtxzwwamsug822txf2f44nnkqqxn9aelqyvey2q SeekerErebus So, a solo director using current AI video, voice, and music tools could create a 90 minute film, about anything they want, at quality comparable to the best movies of all time, for between $3900 and $8500 spent on AI services, and between 3-6 months of compute time. That's including 100 generated options for each individual scene, voice training for an entire cast of AI characters, and music made specifically for each moment. No additional tech, nothing still needing to be developed. It can be done right now, by anyone with a vision and the drive. What a timeline. npub1c0lhxghx5ynvf8mv3phmtxzwwamsug822txf2f44nnkqqxn9aelqyvey2q SeekerErebus This guy belongs here already. https://youtu.be/ATlFviJiaRM npub1c0lhxghx5ynvf8mv3phmtxzwwamsug822txf2f44nnkqqxn9aelqyvey2q SeekerErebus AI naturally democratizes, since it's just math anyone who wishes to study can learn about, the costs keep going down, and the best move is clearly to take advantage of open source discoveries. They will try to control it, but will find it as difficult as stopping bitcoin. npub1c0lhxghx5ynvf8mv3phmtxzwwamsug822txf2f44nnkqqxn9aelqyvey2q SeekerErebus Canadians committed so many war crimes during WWII there remains a running joke in some circles that they see the Geneva Convention rules as a checklist. So yeah, they go real hardcore. npub1c0lhxghx5ynvf8mv3phmtxzwwamsug822txf2f44nnkqqxn9aelqyvey2q SeekerErebus With TikTok especially, the real limiter Nostr-side is the lack of algorithm. It is only as popular as it is because it has the most advanced social media algorithm in existence. It is devilish in its ability to addict users to scrolling; so effective at it that withdrawal starts tweaking heavy users out in minutes. Best avoided. npub1c0lhxghx5ynvf8mv3phmtxzwwamsug822txf2f44nnkqqxn9aelqyvey2q SeekerErebus Ah TikTok. Right result, wrong reasons. While it's unlikely it was intended as such, China now uses TikTok as a psychological opium. Proof is in how it works within their own borders. No dancing, no thirst traps, no random junk with no merit. Chinese users see patriotic videos, educational content, and are limited in how long they can be on it each day. And the addiction power of Tiktok overseas is so strong people are already in withdrawal after less than an hour. US Gov did it to push people toward Meta, for money, for censorship. They still are all scum. Doesn't mean the result is a bad thing. npub1c0lhxghx5ynvf8mv3phmtxzwwamsug822txf2f44nnkqqxn9aelqyvey2q SeekerErebus The problem isn't memecoins. The problem is gambling. The problem is that getting rich requires that you be lucky and incredibly intelligent, or get lucky gambling. Even bitcoin is ultimately just the best bet in a sea of bad odds. The memecoins will die out when gambling is no longer a requirement. Not one hour before. npub1c0lhxghx5ynvf8mv3phmtxzwwamsug822txf2f44nnkqqxn9aelqyvey2q SeekerErebus Yep. Thorium could hold us good until fusion for about 200 years on available supplies, and basically every country knows it now. If not artificially stopped, could legit see a neighborhood Thorium reactor in every neighborhood of the "first world" by 2035. npub1c0lhxghx5ynvf8mv3phmtxzwwamsug822txf2f44nnkqqxn9aelqyvey2q SeekerErebus Welcome. It's a slow process, but it proceeds. npub1c0lhxghx5ynvf8mv3phmtxzwwamsug822txf2f44nnkqqxn9aelqyvey2q SeekerErebus So, all of wikipedia is sitting at about 150GB of storage space. About 45GB of that is just the text. While the media can be licensed differently, the text license allows it all to be redistributed freely as long as attributions are maintained. So if anyone wants to give https://wikifreedia.xyz a massive entry set that can be improved on afterward, it doesn't appear to be that difficult. npub1c0lhxghx5ynvf8mv3phmtxzwwamsug822txf2f44nnkqqxn9aelqyvey2q SeekerErebus Terra Invicta npub1c0lhxghx5ynvf8mv3phmtxzwwamsug822txf2f44nnkqqxn9aelqyvey2q SeekerErebus Some fun with AI: The Tale of the Magic Internet Money "Gather 'round, little ones," Grandpa said, settling into his hover-chair as his grandchildren sprawled on the quantum-cushions at his feet. "Have I ever told you about the Great Stack, and how our family came to own our precious bitcoin?" "Tell us, Grandpa!" Sarah bounced excitedly. "Mom says you were stacking even before the Nations' Race!" "Indeed I was, sweetheart. It was back in '21, just after the First Peak, when most people thought the magic internet money was finished. I remember watching the price fall and fall, while everyone around me said it was dead – for the 500th time," he chuckled, stroking his beard. "That's when you started buying, right Grandpa?" Tommy asked, his eyes bright with anticipation. "Every single paycheck, I put something aside. Lived in a tiny apartment, sold my car, rode my bicycle everywhere. Your grandmother thought I was absolutely mad, but she supported me anyway. For almost four years, I slowly gathered more and more satoshis…" "Like collecting precious stones?" Sarah interjected. "Exactly like that, dear. But then came the real challenge. It was early '25 when the rumors started. First one nation, then another, began openly buying bitcoin. The price... well, it did things that made even my strong hands shake." "That's when you almost gave up?" Tommy asked, remembering this part from previous tellings. "Give up? Oh no, quite the opposite. I knew I was so close to my goal of one whole coin. But that last portion..." Grandpa's eyes grew distant. "I sold everything that wasn't absolutely essential. Worked three jobs. Your grandmother even sold her grandmother's antique jewelry. We knew what was coming, you see. We could feel it in our bones." "And you made it just in time!" the children chorused together. "Just in time indeed," Grandpa smiled. "Two months before the Nations' Race went into full swing. Now, who wants to hear about the day I finally moved our coin to cold storage, and your grandmother…" "...nearly fainted when you showed her the wallet!" the children finished, giggling. "Some sacrifices," Grandpa said softly, "look crazy in the moment, but turn out to be the wisest decisions of all. Now, about that day…" The children snuggled closer as Grandpa began the next part of their favorite tale, the soft hum of the hover-chair mixing with his warm voice in the cozy evening light. npub1c0lhxghx5ynvf8mv3phmtxzwwamsug822txf2f44nnkqqxn9aelqyvey2q SeekerErebus I heard that @npub10pe…n34f has apparently been suffering a time crunch for examining grant applicants. This has me wondering whether the financial distribution tech that Nostrocket has been building might be a suitable means of enabling grant orgs and expanding such operarions. If existing grant orgs with solid reputation were to approve up and coming orgs, then conceivably donations could be sent to a single source, then distributed to a scalable grant infrastructure. The tech is there, so mostly this would be a change in practice. npub1c0lhxghx5ynvf8mv3phmtxzwwamsug822txf2f44nnkqqxn9aelqyvey2q SeekerErebus Given that Trump recently announced that only platforms with high levels of neutrality will have Section 230 protection, there is a non-zero chance that Youtube gets sued into oblivion in the near future, and a better chance that creators will be shopping for video diversification. Flare, zap.stream, etc have the chance to take major leaps in territory here. npub1c0lhxghx5ynvf8mv3phmtxzwwamsug822txf2f44nnkqqxn9aelqyvey2q SeekerErebus I'm certainly looking forward to when all of the evil people aren't on a single side. It will mean we're debating paths to the same goal, instead of good and evil, and a much healthier society. npub1c0lhxghx5ynvf8mv3phmtxzwwamsug822txf2f44nnkqqxn9aelqyvey2q SeekerErebus Not yet npub1c0lhxghx5ynvf8mv3phmtxzwwamsug822txf2f44nnkqqxn9aelqyvey2q SeekerErebus So Trump has won, and with him also the senate, the house, and the popular vote. The mandate is clear. Nothing they do can stop the sovereign debt crisis, which will likely impact during this term. America as it has been is still doomed. But now, there is a chance that we can rise from the ashes. The death cult has taken a massive blow, America wants to survive. A great day. npub1c0lhxghx5ynvf8mv3phmtxzwwamsug822txf2f44nnkqqxn9aelqyvey2q SeekerErebus I think they can't hold back the consequences of the crisis past $50T of national debt. While I don't know how long after the can can't be kicked further the whole thing breaks, it likely won't be long. We'll likely reach that point during this term. npub1c0lhxghx5ynvf8mv3phmtxzwwamsug822txf2f44nnkqqxn9aelqyvey2q SeekerErebus I'll consider it, got setup work to do first. I only found out about this an hour ago. If a one-click installer could be put together that would allow current nostr relay operators rapid deployment for their relays with little to no downtime, that could critical rate adoption. Got a lot to think about, testing, etc. npub1c0lhxghx5ynvf8mv3phmtxzwwamsug822txf2f44nnkqqxn9aelqyvey2q SeekerErebus PKDNS can probably support websocket links, either already or with minimal tweaking. Currently it depends on DNS, which is a weakpoint. It's the ability to host anything you would use DNS for, without requiring DNS or any central server. That's a big fucking deal. npub1c0lhxghx5ynvf8mv3phmtxzwwamsug822txf2f44nnkqqxn9aelqyvey2q SeekerErebus I did, back when @npub12rv…85vg identified the HTTPS integration during cashu development. I just had too much backwork to do before I could take a crack at the problem. Damn happy someone figured it out. npub1c0lhxghx5ynvf8mv3phmtxzwwamsug822txf2f44nnkqqxn9aelqyvey2q SeekerErebus WAIT a second. Are you telling me you rebuilt DNS on Nostr, or someone did? Is that what this is? Because if that's what #pubky is, or a part of what this is, hot damn good work. npub1c0lhxghx5ynvf8mv3phmtxzwwamsug822txf2f44nnkqqxn9aelqyvey2q SeekerErebus Less of both, I think. Debt can be used to allow a person without capital to use others capital to build what they couldn't build otherwise. So without it, less would be built, by a massive margin. There also wouldn't be any debt slavery, nor massive violations of value through monetary trickery. Overall, we'd be significantly worse off materially, but also more free. Interesting thought experiment. npub1c0lhxghx5ynvf8mv3phmtxzwwamsug822txf2f44nnkqqxn9aelqyvey2q SeekerErebus Believing voting is the most important thing you can do = moron Believing voting is a complete waste of time = psyop Whether Trump or Harris wins tomorrow, the sovereign debt crisis is going to take the country out, we all know that. That doesn't mean voting is irrelevant. I've seen elections be decided by 400 votes for a 10 million person representative seat, when only 39% of people voted. The power is there, and the refusal to use it simply means it will be used against you. We might have even avoided the mess we're in had prior generations used the vote more actively and judiciously. I'm certain it's going to be an easier road to deal with the collapse of America if Trump wins than if Harris does, which is why I cast my vote as such. If you agree, but refuse to participate, you will be allowing your enemies to pick up the gun they will kill you with, instead of wrestling with them to control it. npub1c0lhxghx5ynvf8mv3phmtxzwwamsug822txf2f44nnkqqxn9aelqyvey2q SeekerErebus I did explain how she could convert it to the fiat she's after, and also pointed out the importance of researching later. If she gets to the point where she understands why your point is valid, it'll be a big win for her. npub1c0lhxghx5ynvf8mv3phmtxzwwamsug822txf2f44nnkqqxn9aelqyvey2q SeekerErebus Was at an arts and crafts fair today, getting some gifts and evangelizing bitcoin where I could. On a second pass, one woman had her card reader fail. Since I'd already talked with her about it, she was ok with getting paid in BTC when I recommended that. @npub1kva…tkzv app came in clutch; getting her onboarded and paid was so effortless, I think that alone is going to have her down the rabbit hole in no time. Good day. npub1c0lhxghx5ynvf8mv3phmtxzwwamsug822txf2f44nnkqqxn9aelqyvey2q SeekerErebus Satoshi's stash should remain where it is. As incredibly tempting as it would be to just go ham, it's not mine. npub1c0lhxghx5ynvf8mv3phmtxzwwamsug822txf2f44nnkqqxn9aelqyvey2q SeekerErebus Break it. Before I can change my mind. npub1c0lhxghx5ynvf8mv3phmtxzwwamsug822txf2f44nnkqqxn9aelqyvey2q SeekerErebus Currently making a transition from the initial setup for logins/zaps I've been using to a more current arrangement. Figured I'd share some thoughts. I like nsec.app. Smart design, love what it does. As is common, not a fan of the inconsistent support that exists for nostr-connect. Wish I could log in to Amythest and Primal on mobile with nsec.app instead, but so it is. Love how efficient cashu.me is so far. Come a long ways. Long term we're gonna want some strict standards for mint operators, but for now it's doing great. npub1c0lhxghx5ynvf8mv3phmtxzwwamsug822txf2f44nnkqqxn9aelqyvey2q SeekerErebus If it's free, then the rule is "You don't like it, leave!" If it's paid (or funded by donations), then the rule is "If you stop making something I like, I leave and take my money with me." Paying audience feedback is worth more. npub1c0lhxghx5ynvf8mv3phmtxzwwamsug822txf2f44nnkqqxn9aelqyvey2q SeekerErebus Assuming that I know nothing about modern coding, what's the fastest way to learn everything required to start building nostr-based PWAs? #asknostr #nostrdevs I'm 12 years out of date on current development methods, and what i do know has never extended beyond building for CLI at a hobbyist level. I simply have too many ideas for things I want to see built here to not learn to build them anymore. npub1c0lhxghx5ynvf8mv3phmtxzwwamsug822txf2f44nnkqqxn9aelqyvey2q SeekerErebus I think we need bitcoin futures contracts on Nostr. I don't mean "I'll buy bitcoin with fiat at x price on y date" I mean "I'll buy z loaves of bread for x bitcoin on y date." With capital controls coming fast or already implemented, such contracts are likely the best way to both enable a black market and resist the financial repression. Being a distributor of criminal goods has always been lucrative, and this time the only victim will be thieving governments. npub1c0lhxghx5ynvf8mv3phmtxzwwamsug822txf2f44nnkqqxn9aelqyvey2q SeekerErebus There is no second best with money. There is best, and there is ineffective and worse. That most people in Monero own both only further reinforces it's failure. Monero enthusiasts don't understand that money is winner takes all, or they see both as investment vehicles for acquiring more fiat, or they aren't willing to commit to Monero out of fear that it's not the ultimate winner, or they're hoping they can successfully pump and dump. If they were actually clear on how money works, and really believed in Monero, they would use Bitcoin only as much as I use Monero: only when there's no other choice. Anyone like that I can respect, not fence sitters. npub1c0lhxghx5ynvf8mv3phmtxzwwamsug822txf2f44nnkqqxn9aelqyvey2q SeekerErebus When Christians talk about Christ, we often talk about the love He has shown us, His sacrifice and what it means, etc. We don't talk often enough about what happens to those who refuse His gift. I think most of us don't really believe that what awaits is Hell, even if we say to ourselves we do. I had an out of body experience 10 years ago, when having absolutely no reason to continue living I tried to end it. I was deeply gnostic at the time, figured there was no downside and plenty upside. I met a woman, and she told me the horror of my error. I spent maybe 1-2 real world seconds, beginning the journey of entering Hell. There is no horror, that has ever been inflicted in this world by man, that I would not happily endure a 1000x over to never experience that again. The event seared itself on my soul, and as is potent and visceral in memory as it has ever been. A brief instant of that, no pain in this world is comparable. And I knew, that that would last for eternity if I died fully. I was lucky enough to claw myself back to flesh, get emergency care, and stay alive. It took me years to find a reason to live, but going back to that is not an option my mind can handle. The Catholics were right when they used severe physical punishment in an attempt to convince those sentenced to death to repent. Not always in who and why they made such sentences, but it was utterly sensible to inflict one horror in hopes of preventing worse beyond death. Something I think we would be wise to remember as this peaceful period of history draws to a close, and war returns in fury. npub1c0lhxghx5ynvf8mv3phmtxzwwamsug822txf2f44nnkqqxn9aelqyvey2q SeekerErebus Intersex is an abnormality. It is not a valid form of sex identity, but a biological error. This should not be treated as a slight against those who suffer from this condition. Their body failed them, it's not their fault any more than someone with down syndrome, dwarfism, or other abnormal (epi-)genetic conditions. However, sacrificing the idea that there is a standard template that human beings are fit to, merely because some encounter errors that cause a failure in that process, is a modern insanity. As a side note, the water supply contains chemicals known to interfere in proper sexual maturation. Given that, if there is an increase in intersex people, the link should be examined. npub1c0lhxghx5ynvf8mv3phmtxzwwamsug822txf2f44nnkqqxn9aelqyvey2q SeekerErebus If there are only 1.5-2 billion humans, that does have the minor bonus of a smaller death toll when the world starts breaking. npub1c0lhxghx5ynvf8mv3phmtxzwwamsug822txf2f44nnkqqxn9aelqyvey2q SeekerErebus On so many levels. Also posted this before I found out about what's happening in Aurora. Government can't do anything, so it says. Honestly surprised it took this long. Gonna take several incidents like this before people realize that no one is coming to save them. npub1c0lhxghx5ynvf8mv3phmtxzwwamsug822txf2f44nnkqqxn9aelqyvey2q SeekerErebus A human who's body does not exterminate foreign lifeforms that go where not permitted, dies. The same is true of a nation. A difficult truth that all nations must come to terms with: all of the foreign peoples who will not integrate, must be excised for our nations to survive. Access to our lands must be controlled. Most nations that are not the west understand this truth well. The west is suicidal, and so it commits suicide by immigration. Any nation unwilling to stand by and wait while those not given entry starve to death with their children, and gun them down if they ignore that law, is doomed. npub1c0lhxghx5ynvf8mv3phmtxzwwamsug822txf2f44nnkqqxn9aelqyvey2q SeekerErebus And here I am hoping that in a few years, Nostr itself can host web pages. npub1c0lhxghx5ynvf8mv3phmtxzwwamsug822txf2f44nnkqqxn9aelqyvey2q SeekerErebus You're correct on that. If every relay you connect to censors Bob, then you won't see anything from him. Bob and his followers have a lot of options other networks don't have to check this is happening. For one, Bob can spin up a new npub, DM a lot of his followers to tell them the censorship is happening, signed so they know for sure. Some will verify, and once the word is out new relays get spun up and old dies. Bob's regular buddies can track it too. And security focused groups can regularly audit relays, and easily sound alarms. So long as some people are vigilant against abuse, and the rest are willing to change their relay setting when the alarm is raised, bad relays are easily abandoned because none of the data they host is exclusive or under their control. npub1c0lhxghx5ynvf8mv3phmtxzwwamsug822txf2f44nnkqqxn9aelqyvey2q SeekerErebus Apologies, I meant that the value of a fully self-custodied scalable solution is worth 100k bitcoin, not one to solve at 100k fiat price. It's a rabbit hole of a problem. Ultimately, mainnet as it currently exists cannot serve humanity long term, though BTC can and should. Simple proof: Mars is never closer than 6 light-minutes round trip. No Martian colony will ever be able to mine bitcoin in a viable manner. And that's our backyard. Other stars is a joke. This is why I believe in the transmutation protocol through sidechain. Scale via L2, verify everything. You can't necessarily stop abuse at the transition point, but if you can guarantee it's caught and execute violators, that's not bad. If a sidechain performs an important enough task that being a layer 1 is necessary, then plan and execute a burn of all the custodied BTC after allowing exits. The layer 2 token goes from being backed by BTC to made from BTC. Like smelting Spanish coins to make French coins. No violation of absolute scarcity. Maybe we get better, but if not, seems the best option. npub1c0lhxghx5ynvf8mv3phmtxzwwamsug822txf2f44nnkqqxn9aelqyvey2q SeekerErebus Had a realization. As much as the monero shills can be annoying, their actions really reinforce how great nostr is. We're effectively in bitcoin central. It's practically an echo chamber a lot of the time. And yet, none of us Bitcoiners can do a damn thing to stop these guys from building alternate clients and relays and systems on their darling shitcoin, and they could very easily use all of the same tech and development, go onto entirely different relays with little to no connections between, and it would all still work. This protocol doesn't care if everyone's in the same group. And there's no way within it to stop people from building anything they decide to, even if it's moronic. And that's fucking awesome. npub1c0lhxghx5ynvf8mv3phmtxzwwamsug822txf2f44nnkqqxn9aelqyvey2q SeekerErebus I can actually talk about the appropriate scale and use of violence required to deal with ongoing crisis. Might still get me killed, but at least i can talk about it. npub1c0lhxghx5ynvf8mv3phmtxzwwamsug822txf2f44nnkqqxn9aelqyvey2q SeekerErebus What you want to do only makes sense when you don't understand what the protocol is doing. Relays aren't single point servers. They're more like download mirrors, except you download the file from all of them simultaneously, verify that the file is the same for all, and just keep one of the copies. There is a cost to adding a relay, in that there's more copies to download and discard and more to upload, but the advantage is that a single uncensored relay can overcome millions of censored ones. And since your relay list is public info by default (including read/write status) anyone who wants to hear from you can just check the same relays you use. Maintaining a copy of all of your own notes through a self-hosted relay is a great idea, but only using that relay would cause significant problems with zero benefits. You don't even gain enhanced privacy. npub1c0lhxghx5ynvf8mv3phmtxzwwamsug822txf2f44nnkqqxn9aelqyvey2q SeekerErebus Sometimes I wish this was what happened at riots https://youtube.com/shorts/Qfswhyuhxso npub1c0lhxghx5ynvf8mv3phmtxzwwamsug822txf2f44nnkqqxn9aelqyvey2q SeekerErebus The "We" here is the app itself. Your options are going to depend on the amount of sats onchain. If you have less than 5k onchain, it's effectively lost. Even in the current low fee environment, you'll spend it all on recovery. Above 20k, here's what I would do: 1. Set up the Aqua wallet. It won't KYC me, is self-custody + Liquid, and I can swap on-chain to lightning. 2. Send all Mutiny funds directly to an address in Aqua. 3. Swap the on-chain funds to lightning. The entire process will likely cost you between 2k and 5k sats estimate. From there, whatever is desired. If reliable small payments on Nostr is the goal, cashu is king. https://cashu.space/ Aqua works great. Etc etc. Hope it helps. npub1c0lhxghx5ynvf8mv3phmtxzwwamsug822txf2f44nnkqqxn9aelqyvey2q SeekerErebus It's a great place. Even better if you want to check what's happening, then go back to life. You are not going to convince any long time student of bitcoin to be interested in Monero, ever, no matter what. There is no improvement you can make, no advancement, no marketing campaign, absolutely nothing. This is not because of the infamous bitcoin immune response, mind you. It is because of a fundamental law of nature that a longtime student of bitcoin has a grasp of that you are either unaware or willfully ignorant of. Bitcoin discovered, for the first time, a way to create absolute scarcity. It's arguably as important a discovery as the number zero. Most importantly, it can only be done ONCE. BTC is the token that represents that absolute scarcity. Whenever a separate token has been created, from LTC, to XMR, to ETH, to all the rest, they are incapable of being anything other than a fiat expansion against BTC, and violate the absolute scarcity of BTC merely by existing. Were the developers of Monero to finally accept this fact, and put their engineering skill to work improving bitcoin instead, I'm certain the privacy we all need could be implemented. Instead, we fight, you lose, and maybe we all suffer far longer than necessary because the one money that can actually do the job wasn't given necessary upgrades. BTW, There is a trick you can do that would allow a new chain to be created without being a fiat expansion. Establish a fixed ratio of BTC to the token, and permanently burn BTC on-chain at that ratio each time. If the ratio is never broken, then you've transmuted BTC and conserved the absolute scarcity. I have zero idea what the market would do with that, mind. And there are other pitfalls that can befall any such project. But the discovered law would not be violated, and it might be the only way to implement a hard-fork level upgrade to bitcoin that could actually work, should that ever be necessary. npub1c0lhxghx5ynvf8mv3phmtxzwwamsug822txf2f44nnkqqxn9aelqyvey2q SeekerErebus A horrific situation to be in. Unfortunately, many are going to have to learn the hard way that only those systems that have no ruler can be safe from bad rulers. Many have been driven from one platform, found temporary refuge and mistakenly believe they're safe, and they'll be lucky to ever build their connections again when they're proven wrong. Hopefully the recent discoveries about the routing capabilities of nostr enable you and others to access the web freely in near future. Hopefully Telegram resists long enough that the word about the essential need for Nostr, Reticulum, Meshtastic and other protocol solutions reaches enough ears. npub1c0lhxghx5ynvf8mv3phmtxzwwamsug822txf2f44nnkqqxn9aelqyvey2q SeekerErebus There's no such thing as good porn. Write it off as the learning expense it is in that case. Main takeaway: measure twice, cut once. If you never fund a self-custody solution until you've verified you can rebuild it and get the same addresses first, you're less likely to have this happen again. npub1c0lhxghx5ynvf8mv3phmtxzwwamsug822txf2f44nnkqqxn9aelqyvey2q SeekerErebus As long as the original private key is available, it should be recoverable, but it might not be worth the difficulty. When you say you "send some sats to fund the wallet from an address generated on ride the lightning" do you mean the sats were in the on-chain element of RTL and were used to open a channel, or do you mean the sats were in an external wallet and sent to an RTL address? npub1c0lhxghx5ynvf8mv3phmtxzwwamsug822txf2f44nnkqqxn9aelqyvey2q SeekerErebus *jots down* add "privacy friendly security cameras" to potential business ideas npub1c0lhxghx5ynvf8mv3phmtxzwwamsug822txf2f44nnkqqxn9aelqyvey2q SeekerErebus Something in Nostr's favor that (at least among my follows) isn't discussed much is that the sex industry has been responsible for determining which technology wins for as long as there has been a sex industry. Why is this in Nostr's favor you might ask? Because zaps plus completely uncontrolled distribution ability is currently the most in-demand service for independent nsfw creators. Especially with the crowdfunding sites most used constantly banning them. No group in the west has faced more financial authoritarianism than sex workers. I'm not personally interested in attaching this npub to the porn side of nostr. The CP that exists in some corners is the worst downside of the protocol. But the reality is, the internet userbase most primed to join and actively use nostr are these people. It's a blood thinner, currently the most effective on the market. Bristol-Myers Squibb with Pfizer have been defending the patent like vipers, extending it and suing the more than 20 generic alternatives that are trying to get to market. Without government intervention, this drug would likely be $30 a month or less. Because of that intervention, it's difficult to get for less than $300, and out of pocket is $600. Back in 2021, I stopped taking Eliquis. I was leaving SSI, leaving Medicaid. Couldn't afford it while also trying to escape the life of government supported parasitism I'd been living. I'm one of a small number of people under 40 with sever blood clotting issues, with only Eliquis able to effectively treat it. So despite attempting through diet and supplements the whole time, eventually the lack of proper treatment caught up with me. I nearly died this last week, the clot that ended up forming strangling my gut. I got out of the hospital today, still recovering. The government has, through sheer dumb luck, successfully forced my hand. Their intervention means I cannot continue to live without depending on them; without returning to parasitism. I'm going to have to beg and plead from people who I hate and who hate me to stay alive through their stolen goods. Plus, I'll be lucky if I figure out how to escape the debt spiral I'm now on. I'm already 99% certain bankruptcy is inevitable, bye bye my BTC. It's a personal rant, but it's where I'm at. I don't even know who's death would solve it, otherwise I'd go hunting. Buy as much bitcoin as they can get their hands on. 2. Mark the dollar value of all of the bitcoin they hold at equal to 110% their total outstanding debt + interest. 3. Officially default, and use their bitcoin holdings instead of dollars to pay off all treasury bonds. We get the same massive upheaval in the economy we're gonna get anyway, but we also get a rapid widespread distribution of bitcoin comparable to the current dollar distribution. There's also an incredibly simple direct translation of value between dollars and bitcoin to the layperson. I knew that some of what I was seeing coming from liberals and the government was insane, but I believed he was in many ways worse. I listened when the media showed him as a fascist tyrant. I even voted for the dementia patient (red state overrode me, thank God) because I chose to risk that over Trump. Middle of 2021, seeing lie after lie bombard through the covid machine, I did a thorough accounting of where I was getting my information. I determined to verify for myself what news organizations and individuals were liars, and I decided that any who proved to be liars through their own actions, were to be dismissed as valid sources of any information whatsoever. Not lies or truth, but useless noise. Once the liars had been removed, all of the evidence I had once accepted of Trump's fascist character was gone. Not a single shred remained. He was still an asshole, but all remaining evidence was that he cared about America and was truly fighting for it. That's only been reinforced since. It is not an ongoing failure to have been wrong. It is to stay wrong when the choice presents itself. There are a number of rather smart people with TDS who, if they were to do the kind of self-assessment I put myself through, would likely recover from it. Watching leftists precisely identify a problem, then fail to properly consider that they are vulnerable to the flaw and create a "solution" to the problem which is nearly certain to exacerbate it is always bizarre. I think we need to start a movement where we tell everyone in our lives that we will only trust cryptographically signed digital information. Tell friends, family, and coworkers to their face that if it isn't said in person or signed and verified, we will always consider it fake, then follow through. Providing a forged email or deepfake to employers will be helpful in making the point clear. If I had the time I'd write it myself. A practiced nostr coder could do it in a day or two, would take me a few weeks or more due to research. It needs to do 3 things: 1. Handle bip-32 derivations using nsec/npub formatting. 2. Handle signing via derivation. 3. Be modular so that any client can implement it. Most of this code exists, it just requires adaptation. Primary reason I haven't done it over the last year is that without also making a client I couldn't test it. Here's a formula that can help conceptualize that: V(mx, t) = [mx / m(t)] * [m(t) / Gm(t)] * W(t) Where: V(mx, t) = Value (purchasing power) of a specific amount of a monetary asset at time t mx = Specific amount of a monetary asset (assumed constant for simplicity) m(t) = Total amount of the specific monetary asset at time t Gm(t) = Global Money (all monetary assets) at time t W(t) = Wealth (all purchasable goods and services) at time t t = Time This cannot actually be calculated, since you would need to know all of the monetary assets in the world and all the wealth and that's impossible. It's also a lagging effect, where the current value is chasing this equation. But I am confident this is close enough to Reality to be useful. The purchasing power of 1 BTC goes up if the total Wealth increases, if the ratio of economic energy in bitcoin compared to the total goes up, or if the amount of accessible bitcoin goes down. The inverse is also true. Bitcoin could go down to $6,000 per coin and still have the same purchasing power it did at $60,000, if the amount of dollars and dollar derivatives dropped by 10x. Bitcoin could go to $1m per coin and be able to buy less per coin, if the production of goods and services fell by 90% and USD heavily inflated. Both of these are entirely possible, and the latter is currently likely. The best way by far to increase the value of held bitcoin is to go produce wealth that trades directly with BTC. The best way to decrease it, is to borrow fiat against bitcoin and live on the fiat while you produce nothing. The former directly enhances the purchasing power of BTC. The latter is a parasitic transaction that pressures the sale of bitcoin to make up the imbalance. npub1c0lhxghx5ynvf8mv3phmtxzwwamsug822txf2f44nnkqqxn9aelqyvey2q SeekerErebus So a client sets up one or more cashu wallets on relay for the user. Cashu zaps can be received to that wallet, and this all works because cashu nuts work as backed bearer assets themselves and the control key is made the nsec. Ingenious. Please correct me where I'm wrong, but remaining steps to a fully integrated system are: 1. Clients need to implement cashu wallet support (relay wallet) and support for cashu zaps (relay nuts) between said wallet(s). 2. Implement transfer of nuts in and out of the relay wallet. 3. Implement sending of relay nuts to a lightning address, such that receipt of the sats does not require the recipient to have setup a relay wallet. 4. Implement receive of relay nuts from a lightning transaction, such that the sender does not need to be aware of the wallet being on relay. I have barely touched cashu, so for all I know most of this is already done or is unnecessary. npub1c0lhxghx5ynvf8mv3phmtxzwwamsug822txf2f44nnkqqxn9aelqyvey2q SeekerErebus Wow noStrudel is killing it. I would escalate my refusal to the point of lethal force. My reason is very simple: a human being cannot change their sex, and there is no category more fundamental to humans than the sex binary. A person who rejects the sex binary rejects all of reality, and embraces insanity. I will die before I allow the insane to control my speech. You can think that's an asshole position, but truth is far more important than being polite. npub1c0lhxghx5ynvf8mv3phmtxzwwamsug822txf2f44nnkqqxn9aelqyvey2q SeekerErebus I tried working with it through Sparrow, and tracking some of the developments around it. If the only thing you're doing is a basic hold, it's slightly more expensive to send than standard SegWit due to the larger footprint. If you're doing more complex scripts, than taproot rapidly becomes king of both potential complexity and price. Miniscript also helps considerably, though it's still very technical. Unfortunately, almost no wallet software supports the advanced features that makes taproot so useful, even now. Various lightning implementations are as good as it gets. So, unless you're willing to try to figure out Miniscript for yourself, you're better off sticking with P2WSH for your wallets. npub1c0lhxghx5ynvf8mv3phmtxzwwamsug822txf2f44nnkqqxn9aelqyvey2q SeekerErebus Amazing.
