Cyphermunk House: The Embassy of Inevitability
“Be realistic, demand the impossible”
"Soyez réalistes, demandez l'impossible"—the quote, misattributed to various spiritual and political leaders from Gandhi to Che Guevara, appeared graffitied across the walls of the streets of Paris in 1968. It became the slogan of the French student revolt and a bridge to the hippie movement. The quote, however, did not come out of the mind of an individual, although Jean Duvignaud and Michel-Antoine Burnier were the first journalists to print it out- but from a collective desire for radical change. Together with “Under the pavestones lies the beach,” these became pioneer memes, replicated and shared on walls, pamphlets, on fanzines across the world and tattooed on the skin of many bodies, by people who did not necessarily share political convictions, but did share a craving for system change.
It is this craving that is manifested, articulated, and actioned at Cyphermunk House, London. The brainchild of artist and cultural agitator @npub17mz…50aq , Cyphermunk House currently resides in a handsome Georgian building in Central London, sandwiched between an embassy and a pub named after the most flamboyant socialite and Queen of the Bloomsbury Group, Lady Ottoline. These geographic facts could be judged as accidental—the location was not the fruit of Psyfer’s design but serendipity—although the coincidences are perhaps too many to not conjure biocentric interpretations: Cyphermunk House is an Open Source embassy, and the philosophy behind it resonates with the thoughts of Aldous Huxley and Bertrand Russell, both pillars of the Bloomsbury Group. Even the ghost of Lewis Carroll haunts the house’s location; a master of logic and a pioneer of cryptography, Carroll’s 'Alphabet Cipher' prefigured the very privacy tools championed by the house.
Just as Lady Ottoline turned her home into a refuge for conscientious objectors, protecting intellectuals and artists who refused to fight, Cyphermunk House stands as an embassy of divergent thinking and non-violent resistance. It did, therefore, have to happen where it did—inevitably. A few yards from the House’s mascot, the white rabbit, a street clock reads “You’re late”...
Demanding the impossible is the catalyst for change. This demand is not directed toward a government, an entity, or a power system; it is addressed internally, to the individual. It is not a collective plea, but an open invitation to a personal journey toward absolute sovereignty. The Munks—those who inhabit and share this philosophy—are 'utopians' in the most radical sense: by seeking an 'impossible' society, they dismantle a corrupted system from within and build a bold new reality from its ashes.
The New Freedom Territory—the slogan of Munkfest 2026 inspired by Nakamoto’s texts- defines the character of Cyphermunk House in its present incarnation and projects the munks’ ethos into a realm of infinite possibilities. A fertile ground for utopian thinking and an antidote to the post-truth mainstream stories, the House opens its doors to the representatives of avant-garde technology and forward thought.
As with all previous events, the relentless energy of the munks will orchestrate a weekend of parallel narratives, twisted analogies, voyages into the uncanny, puzzles, and surprises—blending practical workshops with hedonistic mayhem.

Cyphermunks’ Cake
Adapted from a medieval recipe for torta del Maestrazgo. Super moist and sticky cake, originally plant based, the people then made it with the stuff they had in the part of Valencia (Iberia) called the “Maestrazgo”. Almond milk and derivatives were common at the time as almond trees are abundant and cows aren't over there. Easy to make and scrumptious looking and tasting.
Ingredients for 1 cake:
For the orange and almond top
2 large blood oranges (or oranges if blood ones not available)
200 g caster sugar
200 ml water
100 g of almonds
A good pinch of saffron strands (optional and quantity to taste)
For the cake
250 g self-raising flour
1/2 tsp bicarbonate of soda
225g caster sugar
50 g ground almonds
2 tbsp cornflour
150 ml extra virgin olive oil (the best you can afford)
200 g almond yogurt (ot other full fatb yogurt)
Good pinch of salt
For the orange syrup
Liquid from the orange top
Juice of half lemon
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 180C (fan)
The top
Slice one of the blood oranges into half a centimetre thick discs, remove the seeds.
Bring the sugar and water to a simmer in a saucepan and add the orange slices making sure they're covered by the syrup and simmer for 20 minutes.
Remove the slices from the syrup and set aside on a plate to cool. Add the saffron to the syrup and set aside to cool down.
Grease with a bit of olive oil a 23cm loose-based cake tin and line the bottom with baking paper. Smear a bit more of the olive oil on the paper.
Quickly toast the almonds on a hot, dry, pan for 2 minutes (shaking the pan constantly as they could burn quickly.
Arrange the almonds into the tin randomly. Don’t try to make it look pretty and neat -it won't work. Put the orange slices on top of the almonds in one layer, overlapping them slightly. “Rustic” is the look you want.
The Cake
In a bowl combine the flour, bicarbonate of soda, caster sugar, ground almonds and cornflour.
In a jug, mix the olive oil and vegan yoghurt, add the zest of the other orange
Mix the wet ingredients into the dry until smooth.
Pour the mix into the tin over the almond and orange slices top, and smooth it to the edges of the tin.
Bake for 30 minutes or so. Insert a knife or chopstick, if it comes out clean the cake is done.
While the cake is baking, mix the syrup you kept from the orange slices with the juice of the remaining orange and reduce in a pan until it is thick and glossy. Take it off the fire and add the juice of half a lemon.
Serving
Whilst it is still in the tin, use a cocktail stick or skewer to prick the cake several times all over then pur over the syru. Cool down the cake and put it in the fridge for a while.
To serve it, turn it out onto a serving plate. Remove the baking parchment and, listo!, 21st century medieval feast.

“The conscious and intelligent manipulation of the organized habits and opinions of the masses is an important element in democratic society.”
This is the paragraph opening the book published in 1928 by S Freud’s nephew Edward Bernays, considered the father of modern public relations. The book’s title?
Propaganda
Bernays articulated Freud’s core idea:
most decisions aren’t based on logic.
We’re really guided by unconscious desires—for status, security, belonging, approval—that we don’t always notice.
For example, someone buys a car not because it takes them from A to B, but for the sense of success, status, prestige it gives them.
We see ourselves as rational,
but
those underlying drives condition our decisions.
His recipe for control is simple: target those hidden motivations directly, skip the logical filters, and you can influence huge groups of people—while they feel like the decisions are completely their own
He developed crowd psychology with ideas picked from Freud and Gustave Le Bon:
when people strongly identify with a group, individual critical thinking tends to fade.
The pull of belonging becomes stronger than the need for objective truth.
You don’t need an actual crowd for this to happen. Being part of an online community or feed creates the same dynamic.
Bernays referred to this system as an “invisible government”—influence operating behind the scenes, without elections or public accountability.

Russian artist Pytr Pavlensly set fire to the floor windows of a branch of the Banque de France on the Place de la Bastille. A video showed him standing in the doorway of the fortresslike building, a black-clad figure framed by wings of flame.
The site had been carefully chosen. The Banque de France is the French equivalent of the Federal Reserve, and this particular outpost was erected where the Bastille prison, stormed by revolutionary mobs in 1789, once stood.
In the text accompanying the work, titled “Lighting,” Pavlensky declared the bank a symbol of modern-day tyranny and central bankers the new despots.
Previously, Pavlensky was arrested and convicted in Russia for nailing his scrotum to the Red Square pavement, and again in Paris for wrapping himself naked in barbed wire in a public space, presenting les gendarmes with a classic situationist dilemma: hurting him while arresting the performer and face prosecution for negligence or letting him go.
