I find that some Christians think: I am supposed to be saved if I have faith, so when I suffer does it mean that I don't have faith and I am not saved? Or is this whole thing wrong?
Another way of looking at it is: God is good and loves me and He allows me to suffer so that I can become holy. He must know that I am strong enough to partake in His cross. He is a good father and is allowing me to grow. If I were beyond saving, He would probably let me be comfortable or just get it over with already before I dig myself a deeper place in hell.
I find a good reminder of the latter perspective is a crucifix.
Not saying this applies to you. Just sharing.

Nostr's CHURN is brutal.
Losing almost every new user in a week.
It's not that no one comes on, despite that being way less easy than it should be, it's that they just don't stick around.
Not everybody wants to talk about Bitcoin or clawdbots or nips.
We need to onboard new communities, which is a harder problem.
If client devs want to make that happen, they need to build apps for whole groups of people who aren't here.
One idea is a killer dev stack for general software development. Git, CI, builds, supply chain, etc. ?

It's true that there is no way to disprove the existence of higher time chains, implementing our chain the way that we implement Bitcoin. But there also isn't a reason to think there is, from a principle of least action perspective. (And PLA is maybe the strongest ordering principle we can see.)
I think we can get a tiny bit further on first principles reason. I'm cheating though, because St. Thomas already did the work. :)
Namely, we can say, whether there are higher chains or not, that outside the final chain is eternity.
Eternity > Time
Time requires eternity and higher order must exist for the order within the chain for the chain to be intelligible. The effect cannot be greater than the cause.
We exist in eternity, by definition, and we grasp it directly, or we could not make sense of it's approximations here.
Think about this: can you implement anything infinite or even truly continuous inside finite/discrete physical media? But you can implement finite time within eternity.
The trouble with self-cause is that it's turtles all the way down. Only God can be the uncaused cause, by definition. He can't be fully comprehended by us from within the chain, as you say. (Though He could obviously take direct control of utxos of energy inside the chain. Christians believe that He did. The Incarnation.)
Determinism is tricky because from outside the chain, God can see the whole chain and He is it's ultimate and necessary cause. Our perspective in discerning determinism from withing the chain is foreknowledge. If we can work it forward and backward in time, causally, we know that something is deterministic. So when we apply that rubric to imagining the perspective from above for God or eternal created beings in the Aevum, it looks deterministic to us, looking up, as it were.
But the degree of freedom within the chain is whatever is allowed from above. It is not pre determined from withing causal time (from a within the horizontal, directional order). Horizontal determinism applied to vertical determinism is, well, orthogonal.
The Thomistic take is that vertical beings in the aevum are also free, but being outside time their will was instantaneous (for lack of a better word) and eternal. Fixed from our perspecitve. The ordering principles either accepted or rejected the will of God upon their creation. These are what we call angels and fallen angels or daemons.
The rational human intellect and it's grasp of good and evil are proof from first principles of free will. Arguing that the privation of the good (disorder) exists with the allowance of free will is to say that God is not things that He, definitionally and necessarily is: order itself, perfect, unitary, not contradictory, truth itself.
The simpler way I said this to my little boy is "God allows us to do evil because if we couldn't choose and we couldn't be good, and God wouldn't be good if He did that, and that wouldn't be God."
So I think we can say these things from first principles: God exists. He is the uncaused cause. He is intelligent. He creates the chain and is the source of its order from above (causally). The world depends on Him and not the other way around. He created us with rational intellects and free will.
I am probably doing a horrible job here. I apologize for my insufficiency. If this was easy the Summa would be shorter and easy to read. :)

Not just science, but the whole modern intellectual tradition that has been (surprise surprise) pretty much one to one with the rise of the usury system that took over wester civilization. Subjegation to Mammon.
They've spent 800 years trying to rewrite St. Thomas in a way that writes God out of the story. I don't think they really made much of a dent.
St. Thomas also knew that time was discrete. He also saw vertical causation, what we are calling signatures coming from above. He didn't described something called the aevum, not as nested time chains, but as nested rational intellects with wills, ordering principles, living superstructure, extending from the singular will of God to the time chain. Like light through a nine layer prism. They are outside of time, so they are unchanging and not embodied. God created this hierarchy of being above time to create, structure and sustain the world.
Modern science has gathered a lot of data and descriptions, but it's been hobbled and twisted into nonsensical interpretations of things, trying to make material it's own cause, or turn God into a watch maker, rather than a loving, present, continuous creator. Our Father.
In science, philosophy, theology, everything... the pervasive bias has been to get rid of God or make Him far away or turn ourselves into our own to god. Because of pride and shame and the love of sin. The usual father-avoiding reasons.
But what a foolish thing to do. We are pretty amazing as we actually are. Even in our fallen state. God is the signer but He made us in His image too. We are also rational intellects with free will. And we get bodies here in creation. We get to grasp and cosign, or not, some of His order into being.
The soul is a signing key in a multisig with God, cosigning transactions into the chain of creation. Hylomorohic.

Game theory 110: it doesn't have to get nearly that high before there's money on the table for the first miner that defects after the UASF activates. Spam becomes a risk and compliant blocks have an acceptance edge.
Nobody knows what's going to happen but my guess is that if we get to 10% it's over. Miners are unlikely to be irrational.

No apology needed. It's a critical question. AI undergoes model collapse. That means there is no source of order infusing it from outside the system. It is dead and not alive. Spiritual is a loaded word for some, so I'm trying to stick to tracing the metaphysics at physics' observable boundary. We can observe (and experience) that the rational intellect grasps universals and abstracts. Zero, infinity, continuity (which is a form of infinity), triangularity, dimensionality...
Bitcoin giving us a model of time (state, conservation and change) that we can view from the outside, not only means that we can make a better model of the time we experience (physics) but also a better model of the interface (metaphysics). I seems to look just like what Aristotle and St. Thomas said.
The rational intellect grasps possible changes ("quantum states" which are not physical states but potentia) and qualities, practical reason discerns the good and the will signs potentia into actus.
The negative case is being proven to us by AI. Despite the complexity of computation, they still suffer model collapse. Without sustaining order from outside the system, they fall into entropy. Something sustains order from the outside and we participate in that because we bring order into being as well.

I didn't say any of that. My observation is much narrower and only a response to what you presented. Calling someone a masochist for being sober is undermining. That's not what friends do.
And I'm not sober and don't think its necessarily better. Balance is good, but it depends.
The wisdom that I have learned, having been a self-conscious person myself when I was young, is that focusing on myself was not the way to go. That's what worked for me. Ymmv.
We are very much trained to focus on ourselves. It makes us neurotic. Therapy, social and emothional learning. Don't be "toxic masculine". Get in touch with your feelings. Self-esteem. Self-expression. How do you identify? Self self self.
It's a big neurotic mind F.
All this psychologizing and emotionality is terrible for our mental health, ironically. Especially for men.
Being hard on yourself really isn't that much better than gasing yourself up. Maybe worse. The best thing is to take yourself out of your own spotlight and focus on something so big that it makes you not matter in comparison. Ideally God, or whatever you want to call the biggest big of all, and whatever you think your mission is in that context. Not you as the star of the mission, but the mission itself.
We're just people, after all, and none of us is worth obsessing over. None of us is really special. I mean, everybody is special and that means nobody is, right?
Just forget about yourself and serve something bigger.
I don't know you and none of this is directed at you personally. How could it be? These are just general truths I have learned about life. I have no idea if it applies to you at all. But I have seen some patterns and this is what I've noticed. Hope it helps in some way. If not, please just ignore me.

The media image of men is strikingly bad, for sure. I think strong fathers actually create independence. The modern state is a smothering nanny. A normal and natural father is always trying to stand everybody up on their feet and give them as much independence as they can handle.
That's why breaking down the father was the critical step. By demonizing fatherhood and calling it tyranny, they broke down his natural, healthy authority to protect the people who depend on him.
Then women and children became dependent on the state instead and the state assertied it's authority over everything that used to belong to the family.
But, of course, the state actually can't take care of them (or love them) so then it had the perfect excuse to enslave men, so that women and children could depend on them *through* the state.
"Patriarchy" is just a word they used to demonize the family by demonizing men to centralize all the power.

The state's assertion of parental primacy was the true abolition of private life. (Parens Patriae, in the states.) The family, the patriarchy, was the real bulwark against the total dominion of the modern state.
Demonizing the father and destroying the family opened up everything to their control.
