There's a beautiful woodpecker who lives in and around my yard who I really enjoy seeing. But one of his favorite activities this summer has been to - not every day, but every couple of days - peck loudly a few times on the side of my house right by my bedroom at 5:30am. And then fly away.
WHY!!

It's so bad... and so scary. We're facing layoffs at Temple, too, but we have no idea yet what it will look like.

I did over two hours of yard work in 85+ F degree humid heat, and now a) I need to lie down in the a/c, and b) you all need to admire my monster squash vine (not a euphemism).
