Since I am into the Bitcoin world I can't stop watching things around me and think of them in terms of proof of work required to build them.
Just take the most basic object around you and think about the process to build it, the trial and error efforts that took to get to its specific design and make it work, the knowledge required to go through to the process itself, the hard work to gather the raw materials.
You can go deeper and deeper and be amazed.
If everyone would start seeing the things this way, there would be much more respect around.
Bitcoin builds respect for work.

as a father of a little girl myself, I can absolutely understand your behavior and your feelings right now.
Once the damage is done, however, we can only apologize for our mistake and learn to self control ourself for the next time.
Don't know what the best way to apologize, beside words, would be.
Maybe ask to talk with the the other boy and his parents (if they agree) to apologize in person and explain what happened? Maybe this would be a lesson for them too?

no, a 51% attack is another thing. That consist in the ability of rewrite a significant number of blocks, allowing a double spend. In order to do that you "only" need the 51% of the hash power for a certain period of time (depending on how much you want go in the past). In the previous reply I was talking about the control of consensus.

I think that the connections from the node to terminal.lightning.engineerig are in clear net, exposing your IP to lightning.engineering at least. Also, to whoever is watching your traffic is clear that you're running a node.
Is there a way to avoid that?

to change the consensus in a successfully way (ie: without risking that your fork goes to 0) you don't need the majority of users, you need the majority of the economic power. Let's say that within that date the govs manage to get 80% of the supply (via ETF or by law-enforced custody of user funds or simply because users keep their stack on exchanges). In that case they can successfully change the supply
