Google Search and Google AI Search are fundamentally different products. Just because you changed what you interact with when you type in Google dot com doesn't mean they're interchangeable.
I hope this decision utterly destroys Google in whatever ways are possible.

Timeline:
- everyone is on Twitter until the nazi takeover
- we move to mastodon
-many people see Threads as a growth opportunity and choose it instead, posting on Mastodon that they can be found there
- Threads sucks ass
- people leave threads and post on Mastodon that they are moving to BlueSky
I wonder how long until they realize BlueSky sucks too. Why can't people just land on Mastodon already? If everyone was here, we wouldn't need all this cross posting moving around bullshit.

Waiting for the inevitable report that Apple has stopped internal prototyping for foldable phones/tablets.
A fad with poor construction and materials with low margins doesn't sound like a product Apple will pursue. I don't care how much "better" they've gotten in five years, they're still too niche, too expensive, and too easily damaged.

This news comes as a shock. I followed iMore from the early days. Rene Ritchie, Serenity Caldwell, and Lory Gil were all big names I read in those days.
When I first became interested in covering tech I reached out to Rene Ritchie, this was before he left iMore, and asked him about work and shared what I had written. I was going to ask about what it took to work there before I was picked up by AppleInsider.
Terrible news. Hope they all find good work elsewhere.

I think the key to the future of theaters are better quality screens and sound systems, premium seats, and less seating. Spread people out. Charge more for tickets and less for food.
Make it a truly premium experience. Because right now arguably, besides the size of the display, I can get a better experience at home.

As a 10 year Navy veteran myself, that stance is madness. First, he is on record from the department of veterans affairs as being an E-9, which is mentioned in official Congressional records from when he was sworn in. He served 24 years, which is more than most people serve in any branch. He had hearing loss and had to fight through medical to remain on the job through his retirement. He was a schoolteacher and wanted to run for congress upon his student's wishes, which you can't do in active service.
Sure, he left before his group was sent overseas, but those orders came in as he was leaving. It's not like him getting those orders spurred his separation, it just doesn't work like that. He'd have been shipped anyway and had to separate while overseas.
Plus, we have no idea if his medical status allowed him to be deployed in a combat zone. He likely was never going to go.
All speculation based on info I've learned, but I don't buy the "he's a coward" narrative.
