just a bit of a shame in that there is no partial evaluator for clojure, if there was there would be an opportunity to find errors without a whole bunch of tests or runtime.
Honestly, it's annoying that there's very little work on more general partial evaluators - weval for wasm is the only one I know that's been worked on recently. Compilers are arguably just a special case of partial evaluation that just returns the partially evaluated code in a form that allows for faster execution.

while I do broadly agree, but the second cannot happen without the first. E.g. for your stuff to be usable it *has* to offer a migration path - even if that means that said migration path has to support proprietary operating systems. Putting principles over user needs breaks the migration chain for most users, and builds an ecosystem with no users.

I've said this a bunch and I'll say it again: Free software movement is fundamentally a "purity" argument, while general ass users don't care about some "purity", they care for a solution to their problems.
Sure, that solution can follow the "pure" philosophy, but that fact alone will not win you any significant userbase besides a couple of FSF superfans (if that). You get users by solving their problems, better than others, and for consumer users it mostly doesn't matter whether your software is free or proprietary.

yeah, basically streamelements subscribes to twitch events (I don't recall exactly how), and then through presumably websockets sends appropriate notifications to open alert pages, one of which is hopefully the one in streamer's OBS browser source
if you want to build stuff like that into your streaming platform, I'd say that for MVP the basic browser source is enough, advanced stuff is a bonus (though still - it's important to provide hooks for others to trigger stuff from)

maybe more advanced stuff, that very few people bother to set up, yes.
But the basics that most people use is essentially a browser source to some url like alerts.streamelements.com/basic/username and the website in said url gets a websocket connection and then on events just plays an animation and sound. It's not OBS specific or anything, just a webpage that plays alerts. If you got that working decently, you're at the interactivity level of an average twitch streamer - messing with advanced OBS stuff is something that only like 0.1% of streamers do, if that.

Restore has a protocol, you ask compositor to remember the window config, and ask to restore it on startup. Spawning new top level windows from a drag is possible, my Firefox is running Wayland-native, and I can drag a tab out of the toolbar to spawn a new window, and can drag tabs between windows and drag all tabs from one window into another window to leave only one open.
But I don't see much utility for determining the relative positions between windows (no good way to define it without baking in assumptions), or spawning a window at the cursor location.

tbh in my very simple use of AI when coding, I find that it's just very shit at abstraction. It can extend stuff, sure, but offers near-zero capabilities for simplification (without spending a fuckton of money like OpenAI did with ARC). And there's only so much you can extend stuff without simplification before you get into a massive pile of spaghetti code.

my evil idea for game graphics: run the game loop render everything at ~1000FPS at low res, and then do the whole optical flow and temporal super sampling stuff but in reverse. You'd get proper (not fake!) motion blur and stuff with this approach, but I don't think current operating systems can truly keep up with such update rate.

Eh, not sure if that's necessarily true.
Natural fires are way rarer, because you need an ignition source (lightning I guess), and dry enough conditions for said ignition source to actually ignite and propagate.
With humans, both the ignition sources are way more common, and the ignition sources are way more potent, able to start fires without needing for it to be that dry.
I feel like that's the biggest reason for more fires - more and more potent ignition sources.

if you don't want that, imo the best ways are either to embrace spaghet (just throw those belts wherever, never fix them up) or go with a design so deranged, that there's fun in finding optimizations for it
