I was initially a bit fearful using Opus 4.6, it is a jump and quite good. It can replace a lot of what people do, but to really push it to the limit to not just type prompt and hope for the best people need to be good at planning, articulating, validating and test results. These skills have been the basis of productive and quality results for a long time and nothing I have seen changes this. Backups aren't great, but I also don't have a ton that doesn't either connect to a self-hosted server or can just be manually done occassionally. That being said I lean on rsync in termux, which is really driven by my use of rsync.net. I very recently discovered "Git Sync" and have been looking for an excuse to run Gitea, so might try that out. Otherwise I am fine redoing settings on a wipe.

"Investment grade vehicle" very often means little more than it doesn't depreciate, or does so slowly enough so you don't care. Very few if almost none increase in value, and certainly not if they are used for what they were designed for, driving. Been thinking a lot about this. I feel it is important to do this as analog/manual as possible for as long as possible to stave off the automation. Use metro pass cards for instance, pay machine in cash, don't use app. So long as they continue to see people doing this they less likely they are to force automation and app use.

So much concern over grapheneOS and border patrol. I can't speak to in person, but their CBP Roam app is pure garbage. Didn't work at all, crashed repeatedly on wifes iOS. Even their iPad kiosk needed permission tweaking. Multiple calls and frustration finally got checked in. I feel people are worried about a technical competency that just isn't there. Signal was a lot easier to onboard friends with when it could be their SMS replacement. iOS has gained this ability now to switch default apps and that is going to much harder to overcome iMessage but instead we got Stories and a Shitcoin integration, even still would have been great to reduce friction to adoption. Even still though I use Signal as my primary messanger amoung friends and keeping AI out is a good step for me for continuing that. Thank You.

My understanding of the AMD Ryzen AI chip that they are going to use in the new Framework Desktop is that the onboard memory can be allocated to the GPU allowing for any sized model to run. Framework is in pre-order, but I have to imagine others built with this chip are out or soon to be.

No account needed. From github you can install the Obtanium .apk from the releases section. Valdium(browser) doesn't all installs, so you will be prompted to enable that. Once obtanium is installed, it gets a little easier because you can search and keep a list of the apps and perform updates and such, but really all it is doing is giving you a way to manage downloading and install ing apks from the various sources it supports. The settings in obtanium will seem confusing. "Usually" you can ignore most of them, but occasionally if you want to get specific about versions or prelease installs and such it lets you tweak it.
And please ask away, it can be an up hill battle at first. I came from iOS as well but am technical, and even still I found myself craving the ease of iOS. Don't get discouraged, its worth it.

I have a 16, there is a small bit of compromise in solidness. Overall machine is solid, keyboard and trackpad are solid and stay well in place as any other laptop. There is a little bit of split I notice with the pieces that fill in around the trackpad but that's really it. IMHO though being able to fix, replace, repair is totally worth it.

That's cool enjoy. Have you explored and exhausted other options. And why? Curious, I have struggled to want a Rolex and feel I keep missing something about them. Grand Seiko and VC are top of my list. Although I do have a much loved Tudor Bronze, which Rolex will never touch bronze.

Follow up to my last mention. Grand Seiko is absolutely insane value. I'll say it, twice the quality and half the price of Rolex. Does that make it 4x the value? It just might. I need to pick one up before too many people figure this out, I can't imagine they remain at this price tier. #horology, #watches

I don't have an issue with ETA or Selitta movements, but at the right price point. My wife has an Oris i belive based on Selitta. Got to finally checkout Bremont and while pretty watches I am not seeing the value at all, and maybe I am missing something. $5k for an Office GMT based on an ETA movement. Clearly their customers haven't discovered brands like Grand Seiko or say Sinn. #watches, #bremont, #grandseiko, #horology, #sinn

There was a point where having to prove I wasn't a robot seemed like SciFi. Something straight out of Blade Runner. Now I have to do it a dozen times a day. And it is more hassle and a let down of how mundane it is.
