Guardian Heroes is deranged and one of a kind, but if you worship Treasure you're used to that. Every single game that has tried to recapture GH's magic has failed in some manner (Some decently like GH Advance and some spectacularly like the trash Code of Princess) and only SOFEX did it right.

I will take this moment to once again shill Streets of Fury EX, Guard Crush's, as far as I know, only game prior to SOR4. It is one of my favorite beat-em-ups and if you can get past the dopey mocap aesthetic it is the only game in the entire field of these games that can properly be called a successor to Guardian Heroes.
If that means nothing to you then the precise autism of SOFEX might be a hard sell.

Now you have to remember Steam reviewers would not call the fuckups in DR/Hundredgame's localization (Or 8-4's butchery of basically anything) questionable. So if they say it's bad, it's probably "raw" and thus at least accurate by default.

No game journo chronicling this would know but Pocky and Rocky Reshrined is not a remaster but secretly a sequel with totally different mechanics. Honestly, every game they made after Wild Guns is so markedly and mechanically different that it's hard to call them a remaster in anything but how they are marketed but I am autismal and must say P&R is EXPLICITLY both in the game and mechanically something you play after P&R1 and cannot meaningfully be said to replace P&R1, which still holds up as an all time classic too.

I forget what precise difficulty I ran it on but it can be a mean game. The ending is one of my all time favorites, an absolutely perfect finish, and it is probably the only time I've ever seen the usual crew of EN dubbers do their job right; so the producer must have absolutely loved the script. Felt very weird to see those guys go right back to phoning it in next Fire Emblem. Probably still better to hear it in Jap though.
The added remake stuff sucks balls though.
