When I was half-way through with Stolen Focus by Joann Hari I was ready to buy everyone I know a copy. Now I'm 2/3 the way though the book and in a very different mood. Such a great identification of the problems of our brains being hijacked by big-tech. Unfortunately so far the main solution he proposes is more government. Very disappointing. I am hoping the last bit surprises me. I'll update when I'm done with the book.

I am not very technical, but I've taken the time to get a good number of solutions set up. I can't say it didn't require some time investment. It is worth it, though! I think projects like @Start9 are great and continue to become easier for non-techy people to use.

So far, I can't say enough good things about @nprofile…fy4z 🧡 and their support team. I have (I think) finally gotten my Alby Hub figured out on my @nprofile…fu08 server . Even though I am not at all technical, I am the "Uncle Jim" for my family. Alby Hub is a handy tool for creating wallets for friends and family for a little fun sats. I admitted my mistake. We circ'ed our first son. I felt horrible at the time about it, but I thought that is what you were supposed to do. We didn't do it to my second or 3rd son. I have garlic that I love. A neighbor who was in her 80s gave us bulbs that she has been planting (clone cloves every year) for 30+ years. I know they are supposed to be clones but she said she always saved the biggest ones from year to year. I have to wonder if there is some sort of epigenetic selection or something cuase these garlic are incredible. I have never seen garlic this big. We have been doing the same for the last 5 years. It never occurred to me to let it flower and save seeds. I just might do that this year with some of it and see what happens

We met so many wonderful bitcoiners from Berlin and all over the world. One evening, we all piled into a few cars and drove south of town to a place called Paradise Pineda. Our $2 per person entry fee was definitely worth the views and the photo opportunities, in spite of the fact it was cash only. I really try not to post peoples' faces on Nostr as I cannot "take it back" if someone isn't cool with it. So it limits the photos that I can include.

I haven't read Z&AofMM for 10+ years. I'm not sure I have a good answer to that question. Maybe a measurement of whether a thing/idea/whatever is more desirable in comparison to others in the same category

Have you ever read Zen and the art of Motorcycle Maintenance? He goes down that rabbit hole. It was different and interesting. I am not sure if I would recommend it or not.

So my boomer parents signed up with River. I was in town and trying to help them move some of their funds to cold storage. They dutifully scanned in their drivers licenses and took selfies. They got emails this morning saying "it didn't work. Try again Jan 8". So they called the telephone number and got help right away. An initial glitch due to automated systems but handled very efficiently by customer service. This does a lot to engender confidence. Kudos to the River team! I will continue to sing your praises.😊 🧡
