Question about the first case in the article: dual citizen leaving US to Germany on a round-trip: when leaving the US and wanna show Us passport at the counter — what is the counter? Isn’t that the airline and the article said you should give the airline the destination (Germany passport)?
Ie when exactly is the US border control marking you? Isn’t that the check before the security? (Maybe that’s what the article means by “counter”?)
Then at the gate, that’s the airline again, right?

I’m a big fan of NOSTR but it will require people to really decentralize (eg build many clients and run many relays). Otherwise EU can go and sue Damus/Amethys and Apple to remove it from AppStore.

One issue: when you invite regular Signal user to payments, it shows them MobileCoin which I’m sure isn’t compatible with LN/Radar. Not sure if it’s possible to detect and instead invite them to Radar first? Or at least disable on sender side, ie “this person is on Signal so they can’t use payments”. I just think the current way is confusing.

Signal with integrated Bitcoin payments. Amazing!!!
Testing it right now on both iOS and macOS!
You can text with people using Signal (just can’t send them Bitcoin)
Warning: it will de-register your Signal app so if you not ready to fully switch I recommend trying it with a different phone number.

Nothing major. I had to re-link Signal on my desktop.
I also lost ~10k sats (created Radar account and sent 10k sats to the wallet, then re-registered Signal which killed Radar and then created new Radar account under different phone number so don’t have easy access to the old wallet)
I use Signal a lot so I’m not ready to switch fully so I ended up setting up Radar with a different phone number to test it out first.

First paragraph makes sense - just running a readonly full node makes very little difference (it can decide which transactions to forward and which drop/censor but there can always be another node that will broadcast a transaction).
Second paragraph. Yes, people sending transactions (I think technically it’s the sender who creates the transaction, not the receiver who just generates the address), but that’s still people running full nodes. If someone sends bitcoin using Coinbase then it’s Coinbase running the node and deciding.
So I still think in 2017 it was the full nodes that voted, but primarily the ones sending transactions, not any running node.
Please correct anything I’m not understanding. I genuinely want to understand how bitcoin works in practice.

Can you provide more facts about segwit and UASF? Like you are saying that it wasn’t the full nodes that decided which path Bitcoin went? I only vaguely watched it back then and mostly remember it through Blocksize wars book, and based on my memory you are wrong.
Note: I don’t care about knots/BIP110, I’m only interested in what happened around 2017

constitution ≈ protocol (consensus rules)
executive ≈ miners
judiciary (court) ≈ full nodes
legislators (congress) ≈ developers
Most importantly it’s practical (not theoretical) and procedural (ie. how to do it, constructive not just complaining)

I just vibe coded a simple cronjob that posts inspiring quotes from my Obsidian notes. CoinOS wallet over NWC so it accepts zaps. No KYC and I can easily swap for a different wallet. Any Nostr client can read it. It took less than hour.
Open protocols are the best!

I wonder if we need two different prices for bitcoin?
It seems like the current price (I assume mostly from Coinbase, etc) is mostly from the big money trading, ETFs etc, basically the same old system.
Individuals selling each other non-KYC self-custody bitcoin would probably not sell for that price but that volume is much smaller.
It almost seems like two different assets combined in one. Do we have a precedent for this? Any explanation or what should individuals do besides hodling and ignoring the price?
