I am from Rafah in Gaza, and for over a year we have been displaced, living now in Muwasi Khan Younis. Our city has become empty after everything was destroyed… homes, streets, even memories left nothing behind. We were not allowed to return, yet the bombing continues to this day, even though the city is empty of residents.

Yes… a woman cooking on an open fire, but behind the picture there is an entire story no one sees. The smoke burns our eyes, the heat burns our hands, but the heart keeps fighting. The heat was burning my face, the smoke getting into my eyes, and every time I tried to make the fire stronger, I could feel my hands burning.
