Assuming AI and robotics eventually take over the majority of production and services, including physical labor and coordination through autonomous agent systems, do you see a structural risk to the traditional wage → income → purchasing power → access loop?
If human labor becomes economically marginal, but production capacity remains high, does that destabilize the price discovery mechanism that markets rely on?
In that scenario, income would no longer be broadly earned through labor participation. So how would access to goods be mediated? Would it require large-scale redistribution mechanisms like universal basic income, or even more centralized allocation systems?
And do you see any long-term risk that programmable money (CBDCs) tied to carbon credits, travel quotas, or consumption thresholds, could shift allocation from market-based price signals to administratively defined rules?
In other words, could extreme automation unintentionally push economies toward a kind of post-scarcity collectivism, not ideologically driven, but structurally driven by technology?

Well put. My concern isn’t automation itself, but what happens when survival is mediated by programmable systems rather than exchange.
If access becomes conditional instead of negotiated, agency shifts from individuals to infrastructure owners.
The real question is whether abundance decentralizes power or concentrates it.

If AI + robotics automate most of the economy, production, logistics, services, even decision-making through autonomous agent frameworks, human labor becomes structurally irrelevant.
Once labor no longer determines income, the wage → purchasing power → access loop collapses.
To prevent mass unemployment and demand breakdown, governments and central powers would step in.
UBI.
Direct resource distribution.
State-managed provisioning.
But distribution wouldn’t remain neutral.
Through programmable digital money aka CBDCs. Spending could be restricted, capped, expired, or conditioned.
Add carbon credit systems, mobility quotas, consumption thresholds.
Energy usage limited.
Travel capped.
Purchases filtered.
Access tied to compliance or social scoring.
Allocation shifts from price signals to administrative rules.
It would be automation-driven post-scarcity collectivism, where production is abundant, but access is programmable.
The real risk isn’t poverty.

Imagine a technologically advanced society in which AI and robotics take over a large share of production, from goods to services. As automation becomes more efficient and widespread, the marginal cost of producing many goods could approach zero. At the same time, human labor would become increasingly irrelevant in large parts of the economy.
In such a world, traditional price mechanisms could weaken significantly. If goods are abundant and production costs are minimal, market prices may no longer function as they do today. Money itself might lose part of its meaning, at least for everyday necessities.
I foresee a scenario in which universal basic income is implemented globally, with governments taking on a stronger role in resource distribution to maintain stability and prevent social unrest. However, truly scarce assets such as prime real estate, unique works of art and BITCOIN would likely become extremely expensive and remain concentrated in the hands of elites.
In other words, society could move toward a system that resembles a form of post-scarcity communism.

Bitcoin only makes sense when seen as the monetary reference point. Fiat is a poor measuring stick, constantly changing and politically manipulated. Optimizing for more of it misses the point. Bitcoin isn’t a way to accumulate fiat, it’s a way out of a broken unit of account.

I agree with all of this. However, it only impacts you if fia,lt, specifically the dollar in this case, remains your center of gravity. Bitcoin isn't broken, it actually exposes how disruptive, corrupt, and artificial fiat systems can be.
Once you break free from fiat constraints, this becomes obvious. The goal isn’t to fix or reform the fiat system, but to replace it entirely.
That’s the endgame, and it’s why NGU doesn’t matter in the long run.
What matters is that people realize they’re being played and choose to opt out of the system, one person at a time, regardless of the fiat price.

We’re actually very close to agreeing and finding common ground. I’m certain we both want the same thing in the end: prosperity.
I’m simply convinced that if Bitcoin succeeds, fiat becomes irrelevant. The path toward that end goal will almost certainly include NGU, that much is clear. But in the end state, the number itself stops mattering. Bitcoin is simply better money, and at that point people would naturally switch to it and start pricing goods and services in BTC.
That’s why I say NGU isn’t the point. Once you’re convinced of Bitcoin’s end goal, the journey there will inevitably involve a USD price that goes through the roof. The only scenario where that doesn’t happen is if governments and central banks suddenly adopt sound money policies, and in my opinion, that’s not happening anytime soon.

NGU is just an intermediate step.
In a Bitcoin-only circular economy, where people earn and spend in sats, price discovery would happen naturally. There’s no need to reference USD for that, is there?
The best part is that there wouldn’t even be a need to “beat inflation,” because inflation wouldn’t exist in that system.
As I’ve said before, the ultimate end goal for Bitcoin is a fully circular Bitcoin economy where the USD, euro, or whatever fiat currency you prefer becomes irrelevant.

Accepting fiat while knowing what it is and what it does is, to me, accepting defeat. I’m doing the opposite.
I see reality for what it is, and I don’t want that system for my children. I’m not avoiding the problem, I’m fighting it. Big difference.
If no one pushes back against the system, the system will never change. You can choose to accept fiat, or tell yourself that Bitcoin can only succeed through NGU, but I choose to believe there is a better alternative. That belief is the hill I’m willing to die on.

We’re coming at this from fundamentally different points of view. You seem to see Bitcoin primarily as an investment or a tradable asset, something meant to generate more fiat over time, or at least that’s how it comes across to me.
I see Bitcoin as a vehicle not necessarily to get rich, but as something you can work for without having your time and energy evaporate.
Imagine this: if you gave Bitcoin to a tribe in the Amazon and taught them how to use it, they would start pricing goods and services in sats regardless of what the USD was doing. That, in my view, is where Bitcoin should be headed.
I’m not saying NGU doesn’t matter at all, it clearly helps drive adoption. But ultimately, if Bitcoin succeeds, the USD price will and should become irrelevant.

I tend to disagree. Measuring Bitcoin in something that is fundamentally rotten only casts a bad light on the measuring stick, not on Bitcoin itself.
Imagine this: two or more large players control the majority of a fiat currency. They can trade the underlying asset among themselves and drive its fiat price effectively to whatever they want it to be. That does not mean the underlying asset is broken; it means the system that allows this behavior is.
I understand what you’re trying to say, and for most of humanity this is the reality we live in today. However, once you see the rot and truly understand it, any rational thinking person should reject the system entirely. That includes pricing Bitcoin in USD.
This again highlights that the real driver behind Bitcoin ultimately prevailing is adoption and education. The more people understand what’s happening, the more will opt out, and the more stable Bitcoin circular economies will become.
NGU is fun and appealing in a fiat world, but if you actually want to escape fiat’s grip, you have to reject it completely. In my view, NGU’s main function is to attract new people, with the hope that they eventually see the rot for themselves and choose to opt out.

Because buying a sports car while knowing that its horsepower will steadily decline over time until it’s basically near zero is not sustainable.
Maybe we should judge a vehicle by its primary function: getting me reliably from point A to point B today, tomorrow, next year, and in ten years.
If you know fiat is fundamentally rotten, why are you still defending it?
What good do you actually see in it? Genuine question, by the way.

I’m not avoiding the USD conversation. I’m pointing out that switching monetary standards takes time, and that time is measured by adoption.
A unit of account does not emerge overnight. Until there is real critical mass, prices will keep referencing the old system and volatility is unavoidable.
Even Bitcoin-only circular economies still track fiat because fiat remains the dominant unit of account today. That is a symptom of an incomplete transition, not proof that Bitcoin is broken as money.
Bitcoin being better money does not mean it wins automatically. Decoupling only happens once people understand why fiat is structurally flawed and choose to move away from it, not while pretending the transition is already finished. That is why educating people about money is so important.

Your math isn’t wrong, your premise is.
All of this assumes fiat is the thing we should be measuring against. But fiat is a rotten system by design.
Judging Bitcoin by how well it performs inside that system misses why it exists in the first place.
Bitcoin is an escape hatch, a parallel lane with fixed rules.
If you anchor to a fiat ATH and ask “did it beat CPI since 2021?” then yeah it might look underwhelming. But that’s like criticizing a lifeboat for not winning a speed race against the sinking ship.
Bitcoin isn’t here to make you rich in one cycle. It’s here to stop your savings being quietly wrecked over decades. Your share doesn’t get diluted. The rules don’t change. That’s the point.
If your goal is NGU in USD, fair enough trade something else.
If your goal is getting out of a broken monetary system, Bitcoin is doing exactly what it was built to do.

People will think, “Sure, but my (insert any fiat currency) is safe.” To which I say: maybe, for now. But any fiat currency may be, and historically has been, subject to similar mechanisms of monetary debasement as the Iranian rial. Something to think about.

Isn’t it curious how timing works?
In 2019, the repo market seized up almost overnight, threatening to pull the entire financial system down with it.
