Anyway that's probably getting a bit off topic. I think Cheery Littlebottom (a Dwarf in the Guards series) maps much better to being a metaphor on transness.
But Pratchett was taking on issues of gender and sexism as early as Equal Rites and had women leads in Strata, both from the 80s.

Being trans where one's gender identity is different from one's assigned one.
(Gender identity, gender presentation and sex when they all line up are what makes one cis (the same side)as opposed to trans (the opposite side) which comes from the binary model of sex and gender which itself is inherently fallacious.)

Drag has quite an interesting history tied to power dynamics.
When a more powerful demographic "dresses up" as a less powerful demographic, it's seen as being a "figure of fun" it's literally the whole joke.
Cf. Brits in WW2, the 80s, panto dames and also black and white Minstrels.
Whereas a less powerful demographic "dressing up as" a more powerful one is socially transgressive, breaking the unwritten sumptuary (section dress) codes of society.

Today in Techbros failing to understand consent:
The Microsoft overlords parachuted into management of the 5e, 5.5e and dnd brand are automatically updating character sheets made using DnDBeyond.
Just a simple tick box of "would you like to do this?" And they'd get a lot of happy compliance but, they don't get consent and won't care that you just don't change someone's character sheet without permission.

A great example of how free market thinkers recognise the dangers of monopolies to efficient profit extraction is the UKs NHS.
As a monopsony, the only buyer in town, it was very hard to pull fast one's on.
So it was broken up into battlin business units which allowed direct "competition" internally (with the NHS picking up all the most expensive and difficult cases) and to make it easier to sell to externally.
It's all just a matter of perspective there.

Just conceding that tech should be managed as a monopoly seems a poor idea.
If it's essential that it happen and that's the only way to do it, i.e it's a public good delivered as a monopoly, then surely it shouldn't be left as a private, profit-seeking enterprise but should be a nationalised public service?
If it isn't essential then it still shouldn't be a monopoly, in principle, because if one claims to believe in markets then monopolies distort those too.

Well, that seems alarmingly accurate.
The UK being used as a testbed for tactics to be used in the US.
People are prepared for Trump to call it all fake and try and overturn the results through legal means.
Are they prepared for incitement to civil war?

I am 100% sure that if groups of people of colour started chopping up Nazis on the street that the BBC would _lose its shit_.
As it is, there's goons, rioting, putting themselves on social media, looting in the most surveilled society in Europe.
Will be watching the custodial sentences very closely as "protest" is now de facto illegal and this seems like the first test.
