The reason why AI companies chase growth is that their expensive training costs need to be funded by their customers. Inference cost is negligible (and will only drop further) so only training cost matters in the long term.
The more customers they have, the lower the cost for each individual user.
But if you abstain, then token costs for individuals will become unsustainable.
So the truth is in fact "Get in on AI or *we* will get left behind."

hardware architecture as most of us taught programmers understand it is already a fiction. backwards compatibility keeps creating situations where new architectures carry emulation layers, and are internally very different from the interface they're presenting us.

it's too close to C++, semantically, and therefore does not meaningfully improve upon it. i won't write a post-mortem as i will continue to support it, but for Nowhere it is not producing the effectivity gains i was aiming at.
i did single out the parser into its own library though because that part was a really good idea.

generalizing further to a "city plan" (mannheim style), user could place terms in plots - horizontal or vertical port layout possible (i prefer "doors" on either side); layouter assigns paths greedily, computes resulting number of lanes inbetween cells and spaces roads accordingly.

the shittiest least squares optimizer:
error function penalizes label not to be at center of mass of docking points, and docking points not to be at common center of mass.
we measure loss before and after applying a random gradient from a d-dimensional hypersphere.
if loss is better, just use the new configuration. do this 100 times per frame.
convergence is slow, but it's enough to start modeling the loss function.

alternatively i could do this with least squares optimization, forward propagation and Adam for momentum / smoothing.
seems easier to compose a somewhat differentiable error metric than to figure out constraints in a physics framework.

A) "no worries mate, just duck type, we'll figure it all out for you" which makes it impossible to isolate and separate modules into standalone interfacing components that any third party can rely on.
B) "you must type each and every function, interface and datastructure", in which case you have excessive bureaucratic obstacles to fight whenever you need to rearrange internals. your best hope is refactoring tools that automate some of this work;
