indeed What is it about Alberta that they want to keep to themselves and whisk away somewhere else. It’s not THEIR oil. They can get more oil in North Dakota or Alaska or Texas or Dubai if that’s what they want. Why are they hell bent in thinking that Alberta is something that can just be taken out of Canada and appended to the US without them losing things they love?
And I’m not talking about these deceitful snakes running the program. I’m talking about the people they think will support them.

the other thing I’ll add is that she is one of those Conservative cowbirds that lay their eggs in others’ nests and get them to feed the new chick which then muscles out all the other babies.
I have no idea what she offers in leadership. She’s a washed up opportunist who did a lot of harm as Premier.

I don’t think the Conservatives can beat the NDP in BC this fall but as my friend @npub1erl…sewy has pointed out they will drags this currently anemic version of the party towards the right (which they already have on drug overdoses and “crime”). Society’s most vulnerable citizens are the most expensive to care for and the easiest to stigmatize. Homeless folks and people with addictions are already scapegoats and the NDP has done very little to stand up for these people.

The Conservatives will likely win next year’s federal election (unless Pollievre’s security clearance issue is due to some kind of wholesale treasonous behaviour. Still…)
That will embolden the populist right. Until now it seemed like the more reasonable right (like the the few policy minded centrists of BC United Party) were willing to stand up to the populists and take a more deliberative approach to building a better province.

The business community in BC (and nationally in Canada) has made its choice and is backing populist right wing parties who only need to do a few policy things well to benefit their backers: lower or eliminate taxes and regulations they don’t like and privatize public assets and services. With large corporations ready to step into the fold, these parties are willing to essentially govern by neglect. They are not building anything and operate from a dystopian view of the future.
