Jfc Mari was going to have her friend pierce her ears and I had to put a stop to that after her mom had said yes (not considering all the bad things that can happen) because of the state of her immune system and all the immunosuppressants she takes.

Mari update:
It's been a week since Mari was discharged from the hospital after a 20-day stay. She came home from the hospital in her wheelchair, Grandma helped her take a shower that night, and then the next day she starts getting dramatically better.
Today she went shopping in Himeji by herself and walked almost 10,000 steps.
And I have NO IDEA what is happening. This kind of dramatic improvement has not happened before.
Next checkup is next week. I have so much to say to the doctor.

20 days and they were hauling ass with the IAPP doing that every other day once they started doing that. Mari's arms look like they've had the shit beat out of them, but she says it doesn't hurt.
Now we just wait and rest. Next checkup in two weeks. See her IgG level then. Hopefully the new immunosuppressant is working. It's supposed to take some time.

Off the phone with the doctor. As expected, not much can be done at this point. Prednisone increased to 30 mg from 10 mg. I had just enough extra pills for the week. Mari will go see the doctor Friday. She has to agree in person to try a new immunosuppresant. And she can do plasma exchange in maybe a month or two.
Mainly just have to wait and see if the rituximab works.
But I would not be very surprised if there's an ambulance ride in the future.

Finally back from the hospital (after a 10-km walk to the Indian spice warehouse to buy rozana basmati and chicken curry masala).
Mari will be hospitalized next Friday for rituximab treatment and get to go home the next day.
I can't believe you can just go home the next day.
The shortest hospital stay up until now was maybe 2 weeks.
Steroids go up starting today to try to keep her brain from cooking too much until next week.
Biggest problem right now is headache. No motor control problems.

It's been almost 7 months since rituximab, so yeah, we've kind of been expecting that this might happen. I think we would like to get her to the doctor and get her on rituximab again before she really gets bad.
