silly question since I am asking way beyond my own knowledge: is there any way to defensively program such that the software won’t crash when bad memory does a bit flip? Like any way to write the code to have a more graceful failure mode?
I realize this might be an astoundingly foolish question, and/or might require a defensive programming paradigm that no only diverges from norms but may be unfamiliar/inaccessible to standard coders.

yeah, there will be various ways like that that studios make themselves irrelevant and wither and die, and sadly they'll harm a bunch of people working for them in the process.
In 2008, I was on a panel about social media and movies/film. The missteps, known then as they were being taken, that lead to the diminished value and damaging mergers (AT&T hollowing out WB, Disney overextending on Fox, etc., etc.) were all visible, and yet the incentives toward them remained.

German naval commander Heinz-Wilhelm Eck was commander of U-852 and was tried, convicted, and executed (along with 2 others deemed responsible) after the war because on March 13, 1944 he ordered his crew to shoot at survivors who were clinging to rafts and wreckage of the Greek merchant ship SS Peleus after sinking it with 2 torpedoes. Eck was trying to conceal the position of his submarine, and so ordered his men to fire into the wreckage and rafts to sink them.

A US Federal Judge ordered the release of the people DHS now plans to hold anyway, illegally under both US and International Law.
15 of the people arrested at Broadview yesterday were clergy, peacefully protesting; bringing assistance to and advocating for the downtrodden quite literally _is_ their job.
But DHS/ICE/CBP brings only lawlessness and violence.
DHS and all its components and collaborators are a clear and present danger to the American People and the US Constitution.

Brute forcing as an innovation tactic (adding processors, data centers, etc.) is only one possible path, and it has clear downsides: it’s expensive.
I feel like too few companies took DeepSeek’s method last year as a serious option.

I think there’s a real possibility that local, running on consumer electronic devices, generative AI without the need for expensive processors, data centers, massive amounts of water and electricity may well be the actual long term way forward for generative AIs like LLM, image and video generators.
