Fiction writer, amateur artist. Writes mainly supernatural and crime fiction, some fantasy. Nominated for the 2010 Debut Dagger Award and Edgar Awards for Best Short Story (for a piece in Ellery Queen's Mystery Magazine). Currently working in TV subtitling / close captioning as a day job, and because I like doing something that helps people. I actually did want to be a writer and it was around that age that set in. I figured I'd need another career to pay the bills, but writing was the only thing I really wanted to do. So the universe being perverse as always deemed that I would utterly suck at writing.

I actually read a theory once that thought music was our first language, that early people called to one another with tones and rhythm similar to the way birdsong worked, and that it only developed into words later. I kind of like that idea, that harmony and vibrations and music are basically the core of the universe.

Got started today on the first raised bed in the back garden for growing veg. The courier had lost my plants I'd ordered but the company sent replacements and I have other seeds arriving tomorrow.
All my beds of seeds I planted in the front garden have loads of seedlings sprouting in now too. Hopefully they will make it to flowerhood.
All makes for a good Earth Day.

Strangely enough, a lot of the films I tried to find that were now really rare, I could only get from the Netherlands! So I have a lot of movies in Dutch packaging here, usually things no-one else has ever heard of but which have one of my favourite actors in.
