all of these are now imported with original artworks (regardless of size).
I’m also re-importing Behind the Schemes so that it has all the right artwork.
There is now no image size limit for you. Use it wisely 😂

aha, I see. What you can do when you import is check “Import as Private show”. When you do that, we never podping or submit to Podcast Index. It is still a public feed, but not submitted anywhere. That should work right?
You manage the show on Podhome, which generates and RSS feed, and then you take the info from the feed into your selfhosted feed.

3.2 When you create new live episodes, all values that you previously entered will be repopulated, so you don't have to enter those again
3.3 The same goes for value blocks. Once configured for the show level, these are easily changed, or copied on episode level

3. I'm sorry, but I can't open up the feed for editing. It would be a big change, as whatever you change would not feed back into the database and UI and it will add a lot of support work. However:
3.1 When you have a live item in your RSS feed, you can copy it from the RSS feed and paste it into other feeds/programs. Or in Podhome, duplicate to shows you have there

1. We removed the 1400px limit also for episode artwork (it wasn't in place for chapter artwork or gifs). We still expect square images as that doesn't break podcast apps
2. I noticed that you had your live episode, ended that, and created a new one as a duplicate. It's better for podcast apps to publish the live ended episode, as that is the same episode as the live and have the same GUID (maybe you just did this because the audio processing didn't work)....

The audio processing failed for some reason, which is why it didn't work. The original audio did get uploaded, so I just reuploaded it and now was able to publish the episode. We'll look into why this happened. Sorry about that.

Yes, we do have that (live value link).
Also, you can copy (duplicate) any episode to your own podcast, or any other podcast you own. So you could copy the live episodes if needed.
How about this: We build in the chat tag support for live and then you can try it out.

Hey! We don't allow direct edits of the feed, but we do have a lot of features. 1. We don't have chat in live items yet, but we can add that for sure. 2. We have a whole interface for Value Time Splits: https://podhome.fm/docs/use-value-4-value. 3. Maybe? I'm not sure where you want to stick that 😃 4. You can upload video for your normal episode enclosure. we auto-convert that to audio. You can also use the video now for alternate enclosure and have both audio and video

Im using GitHub Copilot, which also includes Opus (and may others). That gives me the opportunity to switch models for less demanding tasks, and provides a lot of free requests. I love it

Bryan, do you see a lot of need from podcasters to offer exclusive content like a premium feed, bonus episodes and such? We haven’t seen much appetite for that. Some but not a lot.

For Podhome hosting we are thinking about building a way for listeners to support podcasters easier.
Podcasters can easily create a payment page with some info about their show and episodes, which will be surfaced through the funding tag. Listeners can open pay one-time (amount they like), or monthly with fiat money.
As with everything, this will be included in the Podhome hosting subscription. Is anybody that doesn't host with Podhome interested in this as a stand-alone product?

I like Opus, but I can’t force people to use that. Icecast is very scalable in my experience. It can support a lot of listeners and very little hardware

because a GET downloads the whole thing, and a HEAD just gets the headers. So to be nice on the feed hosters,I try not to download the whole feed if I don’t need to, even if that means that I ping them with another request.

no, I try a HEAD if possible, and then don’t get when not modified. A lot of feeds don’t support HEAD requests, so the GET to check not modified is only when HEAD is not supported

on the pull feeds, it depends. I store ETag and Last-Modifed, and send them as headers. I then do a HEAD request, which could tell@me it is not modified. If the HEAD fails and the same with GET results in not modified, I skip it for this round and continue the pull schedule (which depends on the interest of the user). When it is modified and I do a GET, I store the new ETag and Last-Modified for the last round.

Podping, WebSub and pull for podcast updates.
For my podcast app, I’m keeping my own database. Just for the purpose of showing users podcasts for discovery, and to be able to send users notifications when something happens like new or live episodes for shows that they are subscribed to.
I have my updater running that pulls feeds a couple times a day, and pulls and parses priority feeds (that users are subscribed to) every 30 minutes or less.
