ie between the kind of thorough, unit-testing of every important functionality (mostly boilerplate, probably better to automate with something that just tests everything)
and the kind of important tests that 'we assert this to be true because if it doesn't the problem is fundamentally broken in some way/we've seen a problem here so we're going to create a test to make sure it doesn't happen again/etc'
