I'm kind of fascinated by Korean box art for 1980s video games.
This one for Phantasy Star is very similar to the Japanese art and American art, all of which are great in their own right. But this one is unique, being the only illustration of Alis with dark hair like she appears in her overworld sprite.
Also, this is also the only RPG box I know of that chose NOT to show any dungeon or combat screens on the back. Just menus lol.

Someone who is a saint finally uploaded the defunct mihoyo games that eventually led to Genshin and HSR. You do need older 2010s era hardware to run them though. I hope there's a way to emulate 32-bit iOS.

Playing a lot of DS games I missed out on during my mid 2000s. Portrait of Ruin is such a great Castlevania game. I was not expecting it given what happened with Konami.
But I would say I like this one as much as SotN. Which is quite a lot. :HoloSmile:

Just did a depression marathon of Castlevania Nocturn. Watched the whole series front to back.

:neocat_glasses: I'm looking for a Nintendo DS commercial I only vaguely have a memory of. It ran in the US shortly after launch. I remember two people at a restaurant I think, chatting with each other between their dinner tables to escape the conversation (maybe they were younger with parents)?

:HoloWave: It looks like IRIX workstations used to have an SGI proprietary movieplayer app. And they used a .mv extension. My best guess is these mislabeled .MOV files are some variant of that.
:HoloNani: Western consumer OSes just see that and think "Oh Quicktime!" But QT was not available for IRIX. So it would make sense in those early years for platforms without QT to simply use the same extension since it just means 'movie'.
:HoloHmmm: If I get some extra time, it will be interesting to get an IRIX environment running and see if those files play natively there. My guess is yes.

Alright, giving up for the day.
Trying to extract the Final Fantasy 6 SGI demo video from the Square Prevew Extra disc for PSX.
Apparently the MOV files are not playable on their own. Something related to copy protection maybe?
In any case, nothing related on Zophar seems to be maintained any more. This is a tricky one.
There's a couple videos on Youtube, but they are probably just screen recordings. Trying to get the purest signal possible. We shall try again tomorrow.

Does anyone have experience getting Touhou games to run on ReactOS?
I'm using React in a QEMU virtual machine. I have the language packs, DirectX 9 (I think) and an addon that is supposed to address Direct 3D issues.
But I keep getting an error about Direct3D, and the games won't run (6-9)

Alright, some praise for the people making OpenMSX. The display options are very nice. Just the ability to replicate an RGB connection does wonders.
Both the pixel accurate and RGB colors have their own charm. But I really love how much more warm and realistic the blurred effect looks.

Learning to get OpenMSX to launch games on my Mac has been quite an ordeal.
Always feel pretty chuffed to figure out why nothing works over the course of a couple days and accomplish what felt impossible at the start.
But its another case of ‘Its 2024, your documentation needs pictures.’ I’ve never been able to read the documentation of a project and understand anything.
It only thanks to people asking dumb questions on obscure message boards that I figure anything out.

Finally got an MSX emulator working on this Gateway tower. Doing a play of Snatcher.
I changed the name to Jillian in a feeble attempt at a yuri gender bend, but the receptionist reminds me that for the next several hours, I am a Mr. And any romantic advances I make are entirely hetero-normative. Just is what it is.
