You know when sometime is well designed but inefficient? I am like: this is beatiful, I hate it.
I think the concept of working with agents needs to evolve.. right now I have to tag to the agent to get it to do things. Ideally, the agent should be listening in conversations and offer insights automatically.
Having 3 agents (the default) in the same room working with me is crazy.. I have to actively manage what they do and/or say.
On the interface, I think its too chatty. I don't have patience for chats anymore. I need visuals back, not an explanation/dissertation or an algorithm.
Make them render HTML at all times in the middle of the chat and we might have a winner.

Ohhh Discover didnt work for me.. But I just realized that it takes about 10 seconds to load.
Results are fine... It's the people are know are on Nostr because my follows keep retweeting them... So the feeling is like.. more of the same. Similar to the old DVM algorithms. If I wanted to follow them I would have already done so.
+ A lot of corporate accounts (Damus, primal, Bitcoin magazine, Blockstream, ....) I definitely don't want to follow
+ A lot of very old accounts that are not active on Nostr anymore since... Years.. The like The Nostr Report.
That's the thing with Recommendations that to me algos are not good enough. Its not recommending anyone interesting that I have not already decided to not follow.

Looks ok. That algo seems to work well for direct follows, but if I search for people in my larger network sometimes they don't show up. Like.. if I search for Vitor, I see 3 out of 4 of my accounts and 4 out of the ~10 other Vitor's I know on Nostr.
Plus I see a lot more impersonators/scammers in the Relevent algo than your normal one... I am not sure why.
I was talking about that with David a few days ago, my larger WoT network (follows of follows of follows...) has about 1M profiles if the crawler follows outbox. If the crawler is just based on a fixed relay set, it drops to about 150-000 to 300,000 profiles.
Also, no typo correction algorithm (Victor -> Vitor) so search is less effective.. People never remember how to spell the user's name.

Could work as well. To me this is all about figuring out what types of endpoints cannot be run locally and cannot be solved via the usual nip85/nip50 routes that we have great caching for already.

Search will always be NIP-50 because of the other filter options.. I can search on comments of a thread, for instance. Only on a hashtag, only in some id set that I have... Etc,
Recommendations is more interesting, but we need to have better algos and more interesting inputs. Blind recommendations without asking what type of users or posts the account is looking for doesn't work. It's just a feels good feature that nobody actually uses. Or a way to centralize the network even further around the already the big accounts.

I think people severely underestimate how much money is available to buy datasets from any company. VCs, goverments (international), ad platforms, credit agencies, insurances... Everybody wants everything they can get on you. It's quite literally a founder playbook.
These days any company can call one of Palantir's proxies and secure themselves a great deal for their data.

We were talking yesterday about features that would inherently need a server to process things for the client and one of those things is an endpoint to give me all paths between two pubkeys so I can render that small graph in the client.
Or maybe something on the lines of... give me a summary of this account's latest usage of Nostr: list clients they use, list nostr features they use, list languages, list topics, positive/negative post ratio, how their follows usually react (positive or negative), maybe some examples of the previous ratings. All in one return. This would need to parse images and videos they post to see what they are about. Same analysis could be done for each post too, but we don't have large threads anymore.. so it is less effective these days.
Needs to be fast though, because I will need to pre-load this on scrolling for all users visible in the feed. That's usually my concern when working with servers... Amethyst can easily DDOS them with simple regular usage. We already DDOS relays from time to time...

The damus relay you are using is going away by the end of the month and it is currently very unstable.

It's not about animations.. that's just the easy way to see how old technology can't keep up. The entire stack of libraries everybody uses is optimized for instructions and capabilities available in newer phones to match new behaviors expected in new android versions. A lot has changed since pixel 5a, which was launched using an outdated snapdragon 765G processor... Everything is 3x slower in those models when compared to recent midrange 7xx series.

The old processors simply cannot run most of the new animations properly. There is just not enough power to even play things correctly. So the framework already disables most of it, but it cannot disable it all, so everything becomes VERY slow compared to any newer phone.
I mean, even on my Pixel 8, Twitter, WhatsApp, Gmail is all VERY slow compared to a pixel 10. And that is just 2 years... But it is visible when putting them side by side.
There is no magic to old hardware. They just don't perform. Our standards on what's acceptable for a good UI move on, and the older phones suffer.

All the translations are local AI models. Newer phones offer proof reading and writing tools when composing on Amethyst. Other phones have "alt" descriptors automatically generated for the pictures you submit so that the blink can imagined what's on them. All local.

Frankly, I wanted to get rid of all the properties on the NIP and let relay operators and clients negotiate new properties that are actually useful. I feel like we bloated NIP-11's limits with random stuff that we don't even use and/or are not effective at all.

Does it work? I tested I2P embed on Amethyst a couple months ago, but it was so slow (1-2 mins boot up to the first good reply then then very slow connections later) that I gave up.

Each nsec you have controls a Nostr account. Your name can have as many accounts as you wish. We don't have accounts with relays on Nostr.

Every nsec is an account. Attributes of the account are saved in about 20 different event kinds. Accounts don't necessarily need registration with anyone else.

I don't think anyone would trust everybody in a relay. So, you have to trust the relay (follow/accept connecting to the relay) and then within the relay filter by your user follows.

Nostr is so weird. I have been running crawlers to find stuff in my larger web of trust and the delta between runs of the nodes/relays I can access changes on about 30% from hour to hour.
On a bad run my web of trust (follows of follows of follows... to infinity) captures 400K people.. on a good day, it finds relays for 600K people.
Now It just found over 1M pubkeys through the discovery of some very old Contact Lists.
This is nostr for you.

Yes, I am an Alby customer for over 3 years and your customer too. Shit doesn't work. Your site is not even understandable to me, a CS graduate.
I just had to talk to Alby 2 days ago to manually change one of my peer nodes IP address because the peer channel owner decided to just move IPs and everything broke.
It's like you have to have a computer science degree to keep simple things tolking to one another.

I have an agenda... Shit needs to work 100% of the time. It must NEVER fail.
When wallets fail, channels disappear, sats disappear, fees debit from the balance without any confirmation or in a hidden way and/or when people cannot complete a simple zap fast enough to see the result come back, they fully give up the idea of using Bitcoin.
