Throw back to recording the album, Ben Jarrad was a dream to work with. Would literally sing him a idea / riff / solo and he'd nail it straight away. Such a talented musician and great songwriter too. He's releasing some music of his own soon, so keep an eye (and ear) out for that.

I've thought about doing it, but everything changes so fast it would probably be obsolete very quickly. I would start with downloading Primal, getting the self custody wallet with lightning address. Then logging into @nprofile…hwm0 with that nostr profile and publishing to RSS and nostr music from there, putting in that Primal lightning address for payments. That way might involve the least steps

Nice, I'm really not a guitarist and feel much more comfortable behind an acoustic guitar, but there's a tune on the new album where I play electric because I wrote it on the tele. It's called 'Another Sad Song'. Adam Curry is to blame for the title haha. Will share the full story when I share the song. It's more for calculation purposes for newbies. They want to know if they're sending and receiving a dollar, not 1000 sats.
If the artists choose to keep the sats or cash out is up to them. We're trying to solve the payment issue for artists. Keep it as simple as possible
We're looking at this from a payments perspective of lightning rather than btc as better savings (that's a separate conversation)

I think btc (lightning) being used under the hood is a must for the openness and interoperability aspect. But I deffo thing default displays can be in fiat. Imagine downloading one of these apps as a listener that has never interacted with bitcoin and seeing a default zap of 1000 sats. They'd be like what the hell, how much is that?! *delete

yeah, I think most people believe these platforms are 'free' to use when they're really paying with their data and attention. It has really screwed things up. It's hard to go back to charging for something that people expect to be 'free'

I guess it's a fine line between making too many defaults which goes against the whole point of having a trust minimized system where the user decides what's best for them. I think nostr will definately mature and get easier to use in a short space of time. It's more about, where do people host their music and get their traditional listeners to move to who can pay them quickly and easily. This will probably involve a company making a bridge to the fiat rails so they can 'zap' with an apple pay or linked credit card. And also a place where a good music catalogue lives. Nostr can't really provide this. Also a massive turn off for artists that the V4V space is filled with AI music. Just things to think about imo

Really enjoyed this conversion with @nprofile…ndv8 .
I wanted to be honest about how I see the #V4V scene vs where I imagined things would be by now when I first stepped into this over 3 years ago.
Why are people so resistant to giving this idea a try? And why do most people who do, leave after a short period of time?
Is it about improving the tech/ onboaring for artists and listeners, or is it about more education?
Does bitcoin and nostr have a branding problem that needs to be abstracted away for most nontechnical users to finally start adopting it?
Are the quirky terms like 'valueforvalue' and 'boosting' leaving people with more questions than answers?
I don't have the answers, but it's hard to look around and say 'we're winning' when users are down, zaps are down and people that come into the ecosystem disappear within a short space of time.
I'm still here because I believe in the underlying tech and principles of the idea but it's hard to see how this starts to get mass adoption without things being radically simplified. Maybe folks don't want mass adoption either and are happy for the valueverse to stay as a niche community which is fine, but we should be honest about that.
Trust me when I say, I'm never going back to just releasing music on all the old platforms. But we need some new blood around here, and artists ARE looking for this, they just don't know it yet. How do we get people fired up about this?

Considering doing a digital detox and getting this dumb phone. Runs its own degoogled version of android and can sideload a few essential APKs. Probably not that secure though 🤷‍♂️
