The housemate has a succession (if that is the right term) of ever degrading shoes. Ranging from "Appearing at something good" to "dog walking, normal rounds," "dog walking, wet weather #1," "dog walking, wet weather, spare" and "lawnmowing." Also dreadful cheap croc knockoffs,(Eewwwww.)
I have: brown Blundstone boots. 1 pair sneakers, 6 years old. 1 pair black squishy travelling shoes, flat, (suitable for dressy occasions if required), 8 years old. 1 pair brightly coloured strappy summer sandals, impulse buy, so far worn twice in 18 months because what was I thinking?? Plus my felt winter clogs (Haflinger, 3 years old, investment, love those!) and some cheap summer slip ons for around the house.
Current wearing patterns suggest what I really need, if anything, is a second pair of Blunnies, because that's what I wear every day.
I feel six pairs are quite enough for my needs, though, and the second pair of Blunnies could be tipping over to luxury.

Yep, I did the paperwork for that a couple of years ago. (Payneham Cemetery, nice people, I must get the actual physical paperwork when I'm over in October, save on the fuss of postage. It's pretty much a stroll from the parental's, I think.)
I do get occasional phone calls now when they're doing upgrades around the place, because the cemetery has to ask every plot holder for permission to redo the paths etc. Which must be a total admin pain.
My brother considered not renewing the lease and using the marble for something else, but the rest of the more ummm ... ancestor involved ... family howled him down, so the big monuments on the double plot stayed.
Reckon there's room to chuck a few in there yet, then ...

I have a beautiful mug with a lid which I use for almost every cuppa I have throughout the day.
Keeps the tea hot hot hot.
Only downside is that I do sometimes find that I've completely forgotten to take the lid off and drink any tea at all.
Please also enjoy little tiny me having a great time with, and then probably wandering away from, a very early cuppa. (I do remember loving that tea set!)

Arvo, Toots. I have gone back to bed, because it's bloody cold, and I stupidly forgot to wear a mask when I was at the germ factory of a doctor's waiting room last week.
I haven't had even a sniffle in years, so whoops. Nose running like the proverbial, and a bit tired and achey.
Of course it's our notorious Ekka flu* season as well. I had my annual flu shot, in May, I think? Anyway, feeling ugh. Meant to be doing sewing stuff but can't even tidy the desk to get the machine up.
*Brisbane Show starts today, and is called the Exhibition, but everyone calls it the Ekka because we're Queenslanders. And because there are gazillion people crowded in from everywhere, everyone comes back with the Ekka Flu and spreads it around every year. Such a joy.

One of my lovely Artists Books ladies gave me a jar of home made white grapefruit marmalade and it is one of the best marmalades I have had in AGES, possibly since Nana died.
But now I have a clumsy autistic etiquette question: this friend and her husband are older, and have blood pressure issues ("I can't have the grapefruit marmalade myself, Caity! not with my medication in the morning.") I know she still makes a lot of jams and marmalades, and jars are not always easy to get.
Is it ok to even ask would she like her jar back, do you think?! I don't want her to think I'm asking for endless jars! I feel I should give back a full jar?

New haircut, who dis?! You can't see it but I even have three very subtle racing stripes cut into the nape of my neck.
Next appointment we're putting a few bits of rainbow colours amongst the curls. Just a few. Because I love my grey hair, but I think it's time for some colour, too.

Microwave oven carked it on the weekend, so we got a new microwave.
But it was smaller than previous one (fiiiiiine) and didn't fit the microwave rice cooker (which I hated anyway) so after my very late mental health appointment today, we went shopping and bought a separate rice cooker.
Smarter than I was going to buy, but it seduced me with promised auto settings for brown rice, crispy rice, sushi rice, steam, porridge, as well as white rice. Still not all that expensive, no Powerball win as yet! Looking forward to seeing how I go with that.
Also had to buy a new toaster, after an unfortunate accident on the weekend involving lack of bench space, and someone setting the toaster on the stove, then turning on a burner underneath the toaster rather than the burner for the grill, when they wanted grilled cheese on toast. The burnt plastic smell was spectacular. That would be one word for it, anyway. I'll leave you to imagine others. I'm off cheese on toast for a while, oddly enough.

How do you fit 8 litres of soup in your freezer?
I'm intrigued now. Ok, my house is small, my fridge isn't huge, and only has one one of those small freezers on top. Very annoying, I grew up with a separate big deep freezer along with the fridge, and still haven't really broken myself of cooking (or occasionally trying to shop) accordingly.
(" Oh, a half side of lamb is only $$, that's so much cheaper per kilo...)
But the freezer space I have now?
A couple of serves of Spag Bol Sauce, some pumpkin soup, and maybe an Aldi frozen lasagne for emergencies plus the ice cube tray thingummy - no more room or the silly vent holes get blocked and the whole fridge is cactus! (3 years old, this fridge. 3!)

Another 25 minutes pass ...
Some frustrating bits with the jobs, "Why is it doing that?" And $165 later.
Now I can finally get on with getting the stuff ready for the Artists Books workshop tomorrow. I'm expecting a couple of guests at the group, and we're making piano hinge books. So I need to crack on with some more gelliplate printing, then start cutting covers, and find where on earth my cardstock stash has gone.
Of course it wasn't until after the tradie left that I noticed a had a huge blob of yellow ochre paint on my nose. Couldn't have been the permanent sap green or Pacific blue I had been working with, oh no.
Had to be the yellow ochre! 🤭😂🫣

I washed the very muddily paw printed blankets, and in a separate load, some woollens and shirts.
Of course, now it looks like there's rain coming, which was not forecast.
Next door's loquat tree has enough ripening fruit to attract the fruit bats, so none of this can be left out overnight, either.

Arvo, Toots. Day 1 of modified diet for minor procedures on Wednesday. (If You Know, You Know.)
No fruit or veges except potatoes with no skins, and pumpkin with no skin. I usually eat a lot of vegetables, and they're usually what I eat first.
And no porridge for breakfast! I've been having the same breakfast for years. (Yes, autistic eating patterns, breakfast is a hard one to shift, although I'm much more open to new foods these days.)
Thankfully only a couple of days of this, but arrrrrrrgggh!

Morning, no, oops, Arvo, Toots! It's a lovely sunny winter's day today, 14.8, (feels like 12.3), and I have managed to get clean sheets on the bed, (with Miss Rosie Dog's help!) and the sheets through the wash and onto the line. Didn't do it yesterday because I was busy, had meetings, and made two batches of chicken and sweet corn soup. (Nagi's recipe, it's a good one.)
One meeting was to start the collating process after the Art Society focus group meeting on Saturday. So I have my part of that task to do. Spreadsheets ahoy!
I took a batch of soup to my bestie who is having day surgery today, and I'm really glad now I did. She was asked to be at the hospital at 530am, and still hadn't gone in to pre-op at noon! No way she would have felt like cooking anything or managing takeaway tonight. (May not even feel like eating, I guess, but it will be there if she does.)
Right, I guess this spreadsheet won't write itself, will it?

Bloody hell, "feels like" temperature is back to 3.7, it's been a cold old day. Actual temperature is supposedly 11.6, but the predicted low is 5 overnight.
Rosie the Red Cattle Dog has not been amused. She yells until her blankies get draped over her. ("Arooooo! Cold dog in here! Wants blankies!")
She might be the first dog the household has had who welcomes clothing! Poor old Wonderdog had to wear shirts for a while post surgery as a pup, but both she and the toy poodle before her were very against winter coats, thank you very much!
In any case, there will be a dog nest in my bed tonight, I expect. Price of loving that Rosie dog.

Home from Artists Books. Not many there today (we did have a big turn out for the opening on Saturday, plus a couple of the other groups people are involved with have important planning meetings this week.)
Did I get any work done?
Well, I chatted with some gallery visitors, welcomed a new member, and after some fiddling with a rough model of a book I was trying out some ideas on, decided it was back to the drawing board for most of that one.
Might be time for a lie down before dinner, I think.

Thank you. I am just realising how tired I am. Some of the other group members have made LOTS of things, and I have to remind myself that they are not me. Some of the 80 year olds are so energetic and prolific!
But I'm happy with what I did, I think.

Arvo, Toots. Recovery day today.
Hanging Day went well at the gallery yesterday. I had to leave before we were completely done, but the hanging committee were super helpful and so experienced, they made our group's job a lot easier. I mostly sat, sorted labels, and rolled small balls of blutack for the back of the labels - being a good little dung beetle, lol! Then matching labels to works was simple and fast. Hopefully I can share some gallery photos tomorrow.
Today I'm trying out a new to me roast chook recipe, brain fog hit half way through even with my tried and true method of getting all the ingredients out and ticking them off as I go. Suspect it will still be okay without that small amount of dried herbs, as there were other herbs in butter smooshed under the skin of the chook, but very annoying!
Miss Rosie would like you to know that she has been out in the rain. It was wet, so she had to check all her peemail twice. Very tiring.

Went and held bestie's hand while she had a biopsy for a suspicious breast lump, found after her first ever mammogram this week.
"You're not a fainter, are you?" asks the surgeon, readying the scalpel.
"Me? No, just a cramp in my calf muscle. I'm FINE. (Drags chair over and sits somewhat heavily.) Oh, you're doing so well, sweetie, squeeze my hand, I'm here for you ..."
The worst part of today is over, but now she has to wait until Thursday for results, and that will be tough.
I remember what this is like.

Went to Artists Books yesterday and one of the lovely ladies in the group kindly pointed out I'd put the wrong date for our exhibition opening in my last email to the group - whoops! Luckily the correct date is on the printed flyers, someone else did that.
Still haven't finished my little things to actually go in the exhibition, have to do that this weekend.
Miss Rosie the Red Cattle Dog was left alone for half an hour last night while I was collected from Portraiture Drawing Course (which, yeah nah, perhaps not my thing, but it's been interesting) and showed her independent thinking and self reliance skills, shall we say, by liberating a bag of treats from himself's desk (should have been put away). Got home to find nothing left but torn plastic and the "do not eat the dessicant" sachets on my bed.
The volunteer tomato is a good spot to pounce on little critters, too, says Rosie.

So, the Glenelg Town Hall - now the Bay Discovery Centre and Museum? Opened in 1877? Mr Edmund W. Wright was the architect.
But the builder, that was Mr David Miller of Glenelg, and that's my 3rd Great Grandfather. There's a plaque somewhere on the side of the building.
Gives my brother huge amusement to point out a few buildings still standing that bloke built, and other family landmarks around the place.
"Yeah, we've been here a while, not as long as some, but. Only since '54. 1854."
There are lime kilns still standing out at Tailem Bend that were part of the family business (Miller's Lime, run by David's son, Bartlett; Bartlett is buried with his two wives and his adopted daughter, Rosie, in Payneham cemetery, in a double plot I reckon some of us will use one day. Costs us enough to keep it, so we might as well.)
There was a big family reunion a few years back, I didn't get there, but a lot of other rellos did. Dad had fun, anyway.

In other news, very tired today. Two hours of Portraiture Drawing Class, where we drew an initial reference drawing (so we'd be able to see how far we've gone by the end of the course) and did lots of learning to measure accurately, and it was very mentally draining.
The teacher was great, encouraging, and very experienced in teaching, so I hope that I'll stop drawing faces that all look like ET. (Unless I want to make them look like ET. That's the crucial difference.)
Warm here again today. Where is Autumn? I was promised Autumn! Who's got the Autumn? Can you share, please?
