We prop them up with a large stick with a Y on the end so they don't fall over. We have shallow soil on most of the farm due to erosion , so soil building is a big process for us. I've lost tons of them but it's not that big of a deal because it becomes mulch and helps the overall system.

The cav and dwarf cav are my favorite for eating raw. The apple banana is my second favorite but I use it to make ice cream. The reds are cool looking but the ripening process is maddening. Blue Java is good, but my experience hasn't been great with getting them to fruit heartily. The date banana is good but they ripen super fast.
Here in CR the biggest problem is using everything you plant because it goes so fast from planting to fruit.

It's better than seed, mine throw about 4-5 pups per year. The pups grow super fast and fruit is ready about 12-18 months later. Banana seeds are basically useless. Haha

In theory, there is no "cost" but one could argue that land transactions require title, escrow, property tax etc. You can also argue that the cost to bear gold is real. Transporting anything physical incurs cost.

My farm goes from about 800m down to 350m elevation so I'm jealous you can drive yours. I have a road, but it's 4x4 vehicle only and doesn't reach the vast majority to due our extreme slopes. Access is my biggest challenge by far. We still have no power and no real structures, but we will build a cattle corral this year and hopefully a storage bodega with outdoor kitchen, but we didn't get it done in the short dry season, so we need to decide if we want to attempt it in the rainy season. The municipality has been ignoring our requests to fix the public roads lesson to the farm.

That's awesome. Here where I am, and my specific microclimate at about 550m elevation, we get so much rain and sun, it seems like everything grows 2x-3x faster because we only get 1-2 dry months Dec-Jan. My valley is leeside from the pacific ocean so we don't experience the same seasons and precip as the coast which is only 4 miles away. With 10 months of rain per year, we never have to irrigate anything. The jack fruit trees grow unbelievably fast.

Yes it's a guaba chilillo. Ice cream bean, the choice for coffee shade in CR. There's another one that makes a big flat pod that looks like giant snow peas on steroids. I think you are referring to Inga edulis or Inga spectabilis.
It has a ton of names. Rapid growth and lots of leaf drop. What does yours look like?

You'll be fine with the ice cream bean, it makes a ton of shade but you'll likely only need to prune it once per year. I have ice cream bean that was planted 22 months ago that is 30' tall. But I need it for my coffee. You'll be able to trim yours and keep them down better than me, my went sky high super fast. At least the cuttings don't root. Lol.

Yep. It's by far my biggest chop and drop crop. Honestly it's out of control, but my alternative for now is brisanta grass and I use it to suppress grass and add phosphorous to my soil. Grass here in CR can grow over 1 meter per month. It's easier to chop sunflower than it is to keep the grass cut. Once tall, we cut it all the way down. Every 6 weeks or so. Also, they do seem to inhibit leaf cutter ants which is a huge problem here.

Here in CR, the biriba is fast growing, fast fruiter, but it gets very leggy and then dies within about 5 years. Not sure how it will perform in ST climate. I wish you luck. I will tell you once picked, it turns black on the exterior like banana almost...within a day or two if fully ripe so eat it right off the tree if soft. Don't let it sit long.
