On Mac I use audio hijack pro to grab the audio and them audacity to trim it down. All free and takes longer for the audio to play them to make the clips.

I've been using Mastodon for years and it doesnt have any algos and I love it. It's also feast or famine but the signal to noise is very high. The one thing it has that's missing in Nostr in better notifications. On Mastodon I can get a notification when someone I really care about post so I dont missing anything. The rest is just a local timeline like Nostr and I just see what scrolls by during the day.
but Mastodon is dumb and centralized so we dont care about any of the good things it might have.
I use Nostr daily and also hate it daily.
