I had a conversation about LLMs today. When I pointed out by how much the prices need to jump for the service to be profitable, the answer was basically "somehow people will find a way to make models more efficient". It's actually trending in the opposite direction. I feel like data and logic flies out the window on this topic. To me, it's in the same vein as "have fun staying poor" when I told people that NFTs were a bad investment.

Why do I need to perform 2FA multiple times per day?! I'm still on the same computer I was the last time this unreasonably short-lived cookie expired. So many sites are guilty of this nonsense. I have 10 tabs open so I can monitor and respond to things, and half of them constantly log me out.

Ready-to-eat snacks were the most expensive option for us. Here's what mine used to snack on, if I remember correctly (he's 22 now, so it was a long time ago): mac and cheese, grilled cheese, ramen with an egg as extra filler. We also ensured more leftovers than usual that he could reheat for a cheaper alternative. He could basically eat a whole meal between meals and stay thin.

The two that help me most are PHPCompatibility and PHPStorm.
The first doesn't have cross-file awareness, making it hard when PHP 8 BC breaks are mostly about types, requiring that awareness. That's a limitation I came to accept, since it's built on top of a tool to check code styles.
The second isn't as robust when it comes to compatibility checks.
I was trying other tools to indirectly detect potential errors, but they are opinionated in ways that make them not suitable for me at all.

I'm definitely not the target audience of most static analysis tools out there. Except for a few that have limited scope, they all blow up in my face. There seems to be a giant gap for outlier legacy projects, which is 99% of the projects I deal with.

Almost every day, I see microservices that should have definitely not been microservices. Almost every time, it's a big ball of mud with extra complexity.
You can't just split things into random smaller things, slap HTTP in between and call it architecture. In almost every case, cleaning up a monolith would have yielded better outcomes.

Only as long as their employees will take the abuse. I stopped buying from Amazon years ago because of how they treat their people. Never looked back, and my quality of life didn't even go down.
