I think we're all here for a reason, but most of modern life is pulling us away from discovering what that reason really is. Soul-led education is about helping our kids stay connected to themselves, think independently, become un-fuck-withable and follow their own mission instead of spending their lives running someone else's program.

Talked to a guy yesterday that I met walking my dogs, he loves dogs sooo much, but has no dogs because of the responsibility.
Who do I see today with two kids, this guy. And I was like, wow two kids that is really NO responsibility at all. But then I understood - he doesn't feel the responsibility for these kids because they're in school all day long, they have leas than 3 hours a day together as a family, and on weekends grandparents and sleepovers at friend's.

By removing the rigid schedules and standardized testing of "traditional" schooling, children are freed from the chronic "fight-or-flight" stress that really numbs curiosity and forces them into a state of mere survival. #PTSD

Humanity became fucking weak. Stockholm Syndrom is the true pandemic, the collective state of brainwashed minds.
We’re domesticated by the systems, ust like livestock, over thousands of years, the very traits that are actually healthy like unconditional will for freedom and extreme distrust of authority were bred out of us.
Questions? Social exile.
What’s often left is the type of person who just "functions." The NPCs.
We are the only species that can be manipulated using abstract concepts. You can’t use "honor," "guilt," or "the greater good" to get a lion to act against its own nature. But you can with a human. We are addicted to meaning. Whoever controls the definitions controls the minds.
Oooh, and the ones I love the most in this Stockholm theatre: The ones that fight for their system instead for their brothers and sister. You give them the feeling of being part of an "elite" or being the only ones who "truly understand the truth" and that's all it needs.
The actual clusterfuck: Humanity is actually extremely powerful, I mean we’ve subjugated the planet. But that power is based on cooperation. And cooperation requires trust. Manipulation is the parasite that eats that trust.

People often frame unschooling as a form of #rebellion. A rejection of traditional norms. A middle finger to the school system. And yes this is what it iiiis, but some families arrive here because they’re fed up with institutional schooling. But if you strip away the emotional narratives, the debates about curriculum, and all the blabla, you’re left with a simple truth:
Unschooling is not only a reaction. It’s also a very important adaptation.
It’s what learning looks like when you update your model of human development to match the world we actually live in. And not the world that existed when mass schooling was invented.
#School as we know it was designed in the 1800s and early 1900s for a world with three defining features:
Knowledge was scarce. Because books were expensive. Libraries were limited. If you didn’t learn it in school or from an expert nearby, you probably weren't going to learn it. Because there was no internet, right? And they wanted (and still want) to produce predictable workers, who could follow instructions, show up on time, tolerate monotonous tasks, and behave all the same...
All of this changed, changed a lot.
In 2025, knowledge is abundant to the point of overflow. And the most valuable work is self-directed, creative, networked, and adaptive.
Yet we still put children into a system built for a world that no longer exists, and then we blame kids for being disengaged, unmotivated and distracted.
So, it’s natural, that more and more parents choose to opt out and go for #homeschooling, #unschooling or #worldschooling. Away from these unnatural hierachy, from the factory-like environment, and the standardized curriculum.
#Freedom-based #education is more like a laboratory, like a network, a set of evolving personal pathways. And for the „school-lovers“ this might look like chaos, and „kids doing whatever they want“.
But actually it is the educational way for families, that choose their kid's success, health and happiness on every level, setting them up for the future, while creating a new future. And I think this is really beautiful.

We lived on the Canary Islands for quite some years, so many beautiful memories and friendships we made there. But we had to leave, as #homeschooling/#unschooling became impossible for us over there. So I took the cat, the dog, the other dog, and the kid, and the kid's friend, packed our car, and we made a nice road/ferry trip from the Canary Islands to Spain, to Portugal, then to Egypt.
But holy shit, I miss the Canary Islands a lot, but we had to keep on going to be able to live a free life.
Sometimes freedom means choosing the harder road and carrying your love for a place with you, instead of staying where your spirit can’t grow anymore.

When external pressure drops, the nervous system recalibrates. Less chronic stress leads to better emotional regulation, stronger relationships, and more capacity for #responsibility and #creativity. WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT THAT??
#Autonomy over time and energy doesn’t just feel better, it measurably changes how people function and what they’re able to take on. #Growth comes from that space.
And let's talk about the time with your kids, that #homeschooling/#unschoolig/#worldschooling gives you.
Did you know homeschooling families often spend significantly less time on formal classroom hours yet end up gaining more total time together as a #family? Many homeschoolers report finishing learning their daily stuff in about 2–3 hours, that is much less than the typical 6–8 hour school day, and that frees up hundreds of extra shared hours over a year.
One analysis suggests homeschooling parents can end up with roughly 1,260 more hours per year with their kids compared to #government schooling, and over a childhood that adds up to more than 16,000 extra hours of family time.
It's not easy, it's not conventional, but it is fucking worth it. ❤️

You’re trying to find the exact number where the average person goes, „Ah yes. I have been professionally bamboozled“, lol, but here’s the twist: the answer isn’t a number. It’s a setting from my point of view.
Some people have their skepticism knob permanently set to „factory default“ and some never installed the update.
And that’s where #unschooling comes in. Because when you’re unschooled, you’re not trained to memorize answers and trust the authority that handed them to you. You’re trained to ask, „Wait… does this actually make sense????“
You learn pattern recognition, not obedience. So after Lie #3, you’re already side-eyeing the calculator and questioning who programmed it. Unschooling doesn’t guarantee you won’t be lied to, but what I see, it just makes sure you don’t keep counting lies like they’re Pokémon you’re supposed to collect.
In short: Unschooling isn’t about avoiding education. It’s about avoiding the math problem where the solution is „believe them harder“.

Like many parents, I've had moments of wondering if I'm failing my #kid. I went through that same process when I began questioning the traditional school system. Initially, I worried about how school might fail my #child, but then I started to consider if not following the traditional route of #education would lead to failure on my part.
Taking the full responsibility for your kids' education can be scary, absolutely. But the more I let go and reflect on our fears, the more I realized - hey, nothing to be afraid of, the biggest thread to my kid is already out the way: traditional schooling.

One of the most common criticisms of self-directed learning goes something like this: „If I didn’t force my kid to learn, they wouldn’t do anything. They’d just sit around. They’re not motivated.“
This sounds (almost) reasonable from my POV, but only until you look directly at where „lack of motivation“ actually comes from.
The idea that children are naturally unmotivated is one of the most successful myths in modern culture. They’re always on their phone, computer, … not interested in taking part in the real world. It’s so widely believed that people rarely examine it, and blaming the disconnect on the kids is so easy anway. But the evidence tells a different story: kids enter the world wired to explore. Curiosity is the default human setting!!
So why do so many kids appear unmotivated?
Because motivation is extremely sensitive to control. And schools are built on the assumption that learning must be controlled. So, psychologists have known for decades that intrinsic motivation grows when three conditions are present:
1. Autonomy (I choose)
2. Competence (I can do it)
3. Relatedness (It matters to people I care about)
School undermines all three.
Kids don’t get autonomy, noooo, they’re assigned tasks. They don’t develop competence, they move with their text books on regardless of understanding. They don’t connect learning to real meaning, they connect it to grades. This is the school-survival-mode!
So after years and years and years of being treated like a stupid donkey, of course there is no motivation left! And then adults say, „See? This is why kids need to be forced.“
What I learned from my work with free-learning kids. Most of the kids who were traumatized for many years in school, need at least ONE YEAR of doing absolutely NOTHING, but e.g. playing football and hang with friends, to regulate their system, so curiosity can start growing again.
Unschooling cuts this cycle at the root.
When a kid has the freedom to pursue something that genuinely interests them, motivation is natural. Nobody has to manufacture it. You don’t need stickers or grades or punishments or surveillance. You don’t need adults to „make learning fun“ – because you didn’t break their spirit in the first place.
And here’s what most people misunderstand: When unschooling is done well, kids don’t „learn only what they like“... although I tell people all the time that this is what we do at home. But this goes much much deeper in reality. They learn what the pursuit of their goals requires.
A kid obsessed with music eventually runs into math. A kid obsessed with gaming eventually runs into reading, logic, programming, or storytelling.
The #motivation comes from direction.
The #learning comes from necessity.
The #competence comes from repetition.
The #confidence comes from ownership.
This is the cycle #school breaks. School replaces direction with compliance, necessity with obligation, repetition with pacing, and ownership with supervision. And then it wonders why motivation collapses.
The problem is not the child. The problem is the system that refuses to trust the fundamental engine of human learning: the drive to make sense of the world. And this is not even a real problem, as the school system was designed to be that way!
Unschooling doesn’t create motivated kids. It simply stops breaking them. This is why I love the #decentralized learning modell! So let's stop producing NPCs with the help of #state #school, let's start raising real human beings!

Derek Olson, a wonderful ancient history researcher, who is digging deep into humanity’s history, reveiling the true history that looks very different from the official version that is taught in schools.
What does this have to do with #unschooling you may ask yourself. This kind of knowledge we should teach our kids, instead of the propagandized version that is being taught in school. And I hope that Derek gives you lots of interesting points to deep dive much further into humanity’s history, together with your kids.
There is still a lot to discover.
And, as you know me now already a bit, you know that I’m all in when it comes to search for the truth and to the question „wtf are we doing on this planet“. Not only as a collective, but also as individuals. For me, looking into humanity’s history, is one part of falling into this rabbit hole.

I realized, I never made this funny Nostr #introduction!
So, here we go. I’m Alexandra, #unschooling mum, huge fan of radical #homeschooling and #decentralized #education. Traveling the world with my son, our 2 dogs and our cat since 2017.
I’ve spend quite some time in the space, discovered Bitcoin in 2015 and started working as a journalist/translator for crypto magazines to basically get paid to learn more about the space. Ended up being editor-in-chief and marketing expert in the crypto space for quite some time, started a #blockchain #podcast, too, but realized everything out there is a scam, and all I want to do is vanish into the #jungle and be a #SAHM. Working on this at the moment ;)
So, what I’m doing since 2 years, is interviewing beautiful humans from the unschooling, #worldschooling, homeschooling, Bitcoin universe for my Wild Life Podcast, while worldschooling my son, hopping from Germany to all over Europe, living in the jungle in Thailand, exploring the Canary Islands, recently Egypt and Mexico. How do you talk to yourself?
I just realized, I talk to myself not in the most friendly way. Woke up this night, feeling shit as fuck, feeling sick, haven't been sick in a while so that's fine. This morning my thought carrussel went like this: oh my god you can't walk the dogs, they will have like this pinned up energy and the big one will go crazy and bite someone one day, who the fuck is caring for the kid, poor thing will be at home all day doing WHAT, fucking shit who is taking care of the grocery list, fucking work, fucking need to call my grandma hopefully she doesn't hear I'm sick otherwise she will have a heart attack, fucking shit laundry, fucking where is the cat, and so on, even showing up in work meetings. Not oneeee single second I thought "oh ok, seems to be a day in bed, alrighty then", because it's not alrighty then when you're a single parent caring for it all.
BUT. My tone of voice could have been much nicer, because I would not talk to my single mum friends like this when they're sick.
Will practise gentle talk with myself from now on.
