Bernie Sanders really laid it on thick this week: AI is dangerous, AI brings illness and death, AI must be regulated – and by, er, the US! Who else, for that matter? The EU might be an option, but they’re getting new fax machines this week, so there’s not much time left!
What Bernie – and, in fact, the entire so-called ‘West’ – is overlooking is this: AI is already here. The US model of privatising humanity’s knowledge and selling it back to people at a premium via a handful of public limited companies has failed. Everyone has missed the Deepseek moment. Whether out of colonial arrogance, fear or simply a lack of critical thinking: to this day, the actual neural revolution is being completely overlooked.
Deepseek: for those who don’t know, this is the first Chinese AI model to have been made available completely free of charge and as open source for the whole of humanity. A step of unprecedented magnitude. The next ‘Sputnik moment’ then came last month with the release of Kimi K3. Kimi K3 is arguably the most powerful software ever created. It is a so-called ‘frontier’ model, meaning it is on a par with the US’s triple-trillion models, only it is out in the wild.
We need to realise what this means. Everyone – and I mean everyone – has free access to the cutting-edge technology of our time. This represents a democratisation of AI technology on an unprecedented scale. Xi Jinping made this clear in July in his brief but substantial speech at the AI Summit in Shanghai. In the very first principle, the ‘Principle of Openness’, Xi made the following remarkable statement: ‘We should seize this rare, historic opportunity to promote open source.’ Since then, with Kimi K3 and Gwen 3.7 – and all those yet to come – the world has had access to the entirety of human knowledge in condensed form.
But this also means that regions such as Western Europe can no longer afford to wait. Defending digital infrastructure alone will soon be impossible without AI support. With the nationalisation of the AI industry under Trump, the US is no longer an option for Europe. Through WAICO, China, Russia and the BRICS nations are rolling out this knowledge across the globe. I bet they must be laughing out loud at times; I’d be doing the same in their shoes.
Just to give a few recent examples. A few weeks ago, China launched a global simulation. Due to sanctions imposed by the US government, China was forced to develop highly efficient AI models. Thanks to its open-source nature, this technology can also be applied in other fields. A simulation involving 1 billion agents was launched. Each agent corresponded to a human being with emotions, desires, flaws and so on. The first tests were the usual game theory tests, but as early as the second run, the spread of information amongst the global population was simulated. What this means for someone who cannot access this knowledge remains to be seen in the (European) future.
A second example, which is of great relevance to Germany, is car manufacturing. Modern cars are built with aluminium frames. This is a technically demanding process, as aluminium cannot be cast. The individual parts must be skilfully welded together. Using AI technology, China has discovered an aluminium alloy that can, in fact, be cast. This means: everything is made from a single ‘cast’, with no weld seams; the manufacturing process is simple and low-cost, and the structure of the frame can be adapted to the actual loads it will bear. A giant leap forward. And Germany simply cannot do it.
And, in fact, similar and even more impressive reports are coming in on a daily basis. WAICO is set to roll this out across the Global South. And, secretly, I hope that Europe carries on sleeping and ends up footing the bill. 500 years of colonisation – that adds up to quite a lot.
For my part, I’ll carry on running Chinese AI systems locally; so far, they’ve been quite friendly! Overtaking without catching up (I’m laughing my head off).

ENGLISH] The open-source scene has undergone an incredible transformation in recent years. Since its inception in the 1970s and the rise of Linux, OSS has always been perceived externally as a project centred on freedom, anarchy and the idea of ‘making the world a better place’. It was therefore always met with derision, as the actual revolution – the structural change – went unrecognised. Nor, of course, is this picture entirely accurate: OSS has been used commercially from the very beginning. IBM was one of the movement’s biggest supporters. The entire (commercial) internet is based on OSS; Microsoft is the Linux Foundation’s largest donor, and so on and so forth.
Since the rise of open-source, open-weight AI models from China, even the tech bros from Stanford and Cambridge, sitting at their Apple laptops, have become absolute devotees of the movement. It is from them that a remarkable statement originates: “Open source has left the realm of philosophy”. This has certainly been true ever since Xi Jinping’s opening speech at the AI Summit in Shanghai (A single string does not make music, and a single tree does not make a forest.).
But even the classic ‘Power to the People’ OSS and FOSS scene is changing rapidly. Whilst we hear, particularly from Germany and the EU, the pitchfork mobs demanding that OSS projects should not be programmed using AI (‘vibe coding’), Linus Torvalds makes it clear – in essence: ‘Anyone who doesn’t want AI code in the Linux kernel is free to fork it.’ And Keno from Heise Ct says that manual programming will become as exotic as writing letters with a quill pen. It’s ridiculous for the simple reason that anyone using a modern IDE has been using at least autocomplete for years. What do you think that was? A little Chinese man inside the laptop?
The projects we’re already seeing are fascinating – such as Pewdeepie’s Odyseus or openClaw, or, as shown here in the picture, the OSPalntir war room dashboard WorldMonitor.App, which processes open data from all over the world using AI and makes it accessible to everyone—and can even be run using your own local AI. This is just the beginning.

The Reclaiming of Privacy
In his Social Contract, Kant divides reason into private and public reason. Private reason is the kind of reason we can apply in our ‘official capacity’, that is, a reason subject to strict limitations, compliance with which is necessary for the smooth functioning of society. Public reason, on the other hand, is that of the ‘scholar’. According to Kant, this should be free and permitted to question and express everything.
Alongside reason in the public sphere, there is also a realm of absolute privacy: the realm of the family, friends or one’s own self. In antiquity, this was called the oikos, the household. As long as this sphere does not encroach upon the public sphere – that is, does not, for example, break any universally applicable laws – everything is permitted there and is dealt with within the oikos itself. It is no coincidence that sexuality and other matters that would cause a ‘public nuisance’ are situated there.
But what happens in a digital society where these centuries-old boundaries between these spheres have dissolved practically overnight? This dissolution occurs, on the one hand, through constant self-publication in real time on so-called ‘social media’. And on the other hand – and far more seriously – through the technically feasible and actually occurring total surveillance and recording of all events taking place in the digital space.
As we find ourselves in a fully digitalised world, all areas of life are reflected there. It makes no difference whether this concerns the private sphere of the oikos or the public consideration of a social problem. If, therefore, everything becomes public and – as everyone knows today(5) – is permanently recorded, this signifies the complete abolition of privacy, of the private sphere, of the oikos.
This is disastrous. Whilst public and private reason must simply be renegotiated – as has always been the case – the loss of privacy marks a turning point in human history and was, until then, regarded as an instrument of torture in the panopticon of penal institutions and prisons.
Privacy and the private sphere, however, are inextricably linked to social and individual freedom, as well as to a life of human dignity in general. The reclaiming of privacy is thus the decisive struggle at the dawn of an all-encompassing digitalisation that leaves no room for the analogue world.
But how can this be achieved? In the field of software security, there is the concept of the militarised and demilitarised domains. It is assumed that every device and every programme connected to the global network is constantly under attack, being scanned, compromised and manipulated (or can be). Everything that happens on the internet, in the digital realm, therefore takes place within the militarised zone and, by definition, is subject to constant attack.
The answer to how privacy can be established in the digital realm, then, logically comes from the military tradition. It is cryptography. Ever since the dawn of military conflict, humankind has sought to alter important messages in such a way that the enemy cannot decipher them.
Since, on the internet, virtually everything can potentially be controlled by the ‘enemy’ (in this case, the enemy of privacy), it is therefore urgently necessary that everything that is private – however uninteresting or trivial it may be – must be encrypted and cryptographically secured. Establishing comprehensive cryptography for the private sphere is thus one of humanity’s most important tasks in this new era.
Alongside the challenge of raising public awareness of this and putting it into practice, one of the greatest difficulties lies in the fact that cryptographic tools are required for encryption and decryption. These cannot be controlled by individuals or groups, but must be free and available as open source. The cryptographic tool itself must therefore contain no secrets. The secret used for encryption – the key – must be held by the individual, just like a key used to lock the front door before engaging in private activities.

I deliberately left the bit about Bitcoin in my #Cypherpunk Manifesto article. I’d copied it and included a link to it. It was addressed to the W3 crowd on Nostr, who see Bitcoin as the savior. Here, Bitcoin is seen as the Antichrist, facilitating the rise of fascism. Both are oversimplified analyses. That’s why I’d been hoping for a discussion, as I’m not entirely sure myself.
However, both #Thiel and #Musk made their fortunes through predatory platforms, mainly via #PayPal. The most horrific things in the world happen because #BlackRock and the like speculate on food. Because the military-industrial complex is flooding the world with weapons. All without Bitcoin or crypto. There’s also the Bitcoin Africa movement, which simply doesn’t fit into the ‘scammer-hater’ narrative.
Nevertheless, I think that as long as the world is ruled by #money (and it will be for a long time to come), it’s better to have decentralized money than #centralized money managed by states or companies. In Germany, they say, ‘Money doesn’t stink’. With money, you can buy flowers for your loved one or weapons to fight the enemy.
The dollar and the euro are ultimately controlled by a select few.. Crypto could, if viewed positively, be #democratic. I think this is a worthwhile discussion.
Think in terms of #structures, not #ideologies.

The mainstream has always stolen and has never invented anything itself. What’s really done us all in are Spotify, Facebook and YouTube. Everything’s free, everything’s rubbish.
Anyone who listens to the radio hasn’t heard a real musician in years – it’s all plug-ins and synthesisers. If you want real music, you have to support and promote it. Yesterday, Schubert’s “An die Musik” was performed at Chemnitz City Hall, accompanied by a full orchestra and a mezzo-soprano. A declaration of love. The Capital of Culture has triggered just one thing among the colonial and provincial officials – hatred of beauty. Even high culture is now to be curtailed, whilst officials and functionaries increase their salaries and pensions.

All the better, then, that the underground and music exist. Also yesterday, a parcel I’d been eagerly awaiting arrived, containing a book given to me by the Spanish anarchists. Above all, a true friend from the Basque Country, Iñigo, put me in touch with “Agente Provocador” in Madrid. Of course, it’s not a gift; we’re swapping art for art. As soon as my screen-printing setup is up and running again, “I hate people” T-shirts will be printed. For EVERYONE!
The book with the lovely title “Brutalismos” is about youth, music and subcultures from all over the world. Rebellious youths, rockers, punks and teddy boys. Czech beatniks, Japanese biker gangs, Scottish skinheads and, of course, Spanish anarchists. Self-empowerment without the state and without officials.
Because one thing we’ve learnt is this: whether East or West, nothing good comes of it, for only the courage to use our own minds will save us. That’s why: Down with the traitors – no love for the state.
And music is one of our strongest allies.

Did you know that the first biker and punk gangs, the Bosozoku, in Japan were made up of former kamikaze pilots who had survived? They had nothing to lose. It was much the same in the US, where it was also World War II pilots who founded the biker gangs in the 1950s.
The Hells Angels didn’t come out of nowhere. The black leather jacket, which remains a symbol of rebellion to this day, was simply the old pilot’s leather jacket in the early days. In Japan, this subculture led directly to the yakuza and to Japan’s rock ’n’ roll scene, which is still active today. Warum Bücher wichtig sind.
Beim Ausräumen habe ich 100e Bücher wiedergefunden. Unser ganzes Haus ist voll mit Schallplatten und alten Büchern. In so unterirdischen Zeiten wie diesen, wo selbst ein Knäckebrot von Nestlé einen höheren IQ hat als die Leute, die laut reden (oder bunte intellektuelle Peinlichkeiten versenden, stimmt’s, CCC?). Sind Bücher die eingefrorene Zeit? So wurden im Volksverlag Thüringen bereits 1946 wieder die ersten philosophischen Schriften gedruckt. Engels über Feuerbach und Hegel. Engels beschreibt darin den Verrat der Liberalen an ihren eigene (angeblichen) Idealen – also alles nicht neu.
Im Gegensatz dazu ein Werk von 1915 vom Verlag "Männer und Völker" !! - ebenfalls ein philosophisches Werk –, das den deutschen Idealismus als Vorwand für den Krieg gegen Frankreich und die Sowjetunion nutzt. Also NICHTS hat sich geändert. Reaktionärste Zeiten. Hätte man ein Buch gelesen, hätte man es vermeiden können.
