Yes, I know. And right from its inception, Israel "displaced" (at the absolute least), and the way it happened is what began what's still going on today. But back then, one far enough removed from the conflict could more easily understand it and the word to be less extreme. Not so today.
I'm just desperately trying to find a way where he didn't mean what it sure fucking looks like he meant. Even with a breathless explanation and apology, he's lost points with even me today.

I get that maybe not everyone realizes that "Zionist" in the popular lexicon of fifty, sixty years ago of largely "the Jewish people should have a home of their own" has changed, and today is used to refer to Jewish supremacy... But the PM should be up-to-date on that language.
