I don't understand this. Despite all that's been said recently to the contrary, Luke is a very smart guy. He, more than most, knows the almost guaranteed result of this endeavour, yet it looks like it's happening. I might be in the minority, but I think bitcoin needs Luke around, if for no other reason than to serve as a counterbalance. He could accomplish much more by sticking around. He made his point, but his cause failed. He should accept that and keep fighting for what he believes in, without creating a meaningless new shitcoin.

Foundry, Ant Pool and F2pool control almost all the hashrate. They are all controlled by either the U.S. government or China. All the big US miners require KYC/AML compliance, and very few allow individual miners to control their own hash rate. The only exceptions I can think of are Ocean and DMND. Stratum v2 may eventually improve things, but that's a long time off. I agree that adoption is critical. I just think miming decentralization is as important.

All miners and exchanges run nodes. That's true. The game theory on the other side, though, seems to be that miners and exchanges don't really give a damn about all this core/knots bip110 crap, and will just look to maximize their profits. Do they really give a damn which side wins?
