#Iwatched The Mummy (1999) for the first time. As expected it was a fun classic adventure time. The film obviously owes a lot to the Indiana Jones series but more interestingly it is elevated by the performance of the charming and witty #RachelWeisz. I'll have to check out other projects of hers.

angry or not, you seem to think that these photographers owed you something for your welcome, which you couple with trying to enforce some made up community standards. meanwhile a defining feature of the fediverse is actually that instances can and do have different cultures and rules. I agree that altText would be great. but not actively making people want to turn around and leave should have a higher priority imo.

there is a wide spread sentiment of purity that an artist's vision should never be changed because it will always be diminished. meanwhile most books and films we hold for dear were created with the input of editors, publishers, producers and other professionals who identified problems early and understood the parts that work, creating that polished gem we ascribe to one person and their singular vision. a great work of art is still work and it's usually better done by a team.

I like the attitude but it's the same fallacy as those "You wouldn't download a car"-ads. a digital copy is not taking anything physical away. it takes away work and creativity and a lot of other hard to quantify values that people nevertheless get paid for.
by showing the thief taking the result of this work, it also falls into the "content" trap.

I remember drawing a picture for #NelsonMandela. it was a task given to us by our #DDR kindergarten teacher. the pics were to be sent to his prison cell in #SouthAfrica. but despite the teacher's best attempts to relay the severity of the situation in a more or less child adequate way, the results were just the usual kid scrawlings: house, sun, meadow and broken stick figures. you deserved better mr. mandela, at least a #spirograph drawing, but I didn't know about those yet :lost: #klife

I mean, good on you for hosting your own website. But it's not likely that it will stay around for more than a few years. Even if your org does, your website is a Wordpress-blog which are prone to security problems and difficult to maintain longterm. If longterm availability really is a priority for you, I'd suggest handcoded plain HTML. I understand that it's always a compromise, but consider it.

I've been thinking about this. The way she explained it, it sounded very modern and empowered. I personally lived through the follow-up German totalitarian regime until I was 12. In my experience AMBITIOUS people were a much bigger problem for resisters than unpolitical nice people. Then again I was only 12 years old, so what do I know. Well I'm closer than Naomi Shulman and you anyway, who are using a questionable secondhand story to frame American politics. But Trump isn't Hitler, Republicans aren't Nazis and you're not in the Nazi-resistance.

It may be notable that Naomi Shulman's source for that are the stories her mother told her who was born in Munich in 1934 according to Shulman. So by the end of the German Nazi regime her mother was 11 years old - and if other kids of that age are any indication - probably not the best judge of people's character in a totalitarian regime.
