We’ve been in the middle of a move from SCal to NCal and I’ve felt overwhelmed just trying to keep everything moving forward
…but that’s no excuse really
The whole point of this thing is you can just be yourself no filter no gatekeepers. It’s the closest thing we have to organic social tech (if that can ever really exist)
Now apparently I’m on Twitter… supposedly to bring people here to what I believe in. To tell people they can own themselves and not rent themselves online.
But if I really mean that then it means I need to post even MORE here. I need to be here. Just be a human here in the way I can’t be anywhere else.

I know so many people are experiencing pain at many levels right now. It probably feels like you need to do SOMETHING right now for your community.
… but adding dice rolling and other such things to the overgrown list of Bitcoiner purity tests will NOT lead to more self custody, and definitely not lead to more people becoming Bitcoiners.
It is totally rational to expect a professional hardware company to do their fucking job. The vast majority of them are. We need more user friendly products- not less.
…and FYI a properly designed piece of hardware will likely do a better job at creating randomness anyway.
If you do decide to roll dice and that’s the only way you feel safe at this point- that’s understandable. Please do it properly and follow a proper protocol.

Social-only has probably been focused on too much. However, we can’t and shouldn’t throw it out, IMO.
Social is the shared data layer of human relationships. The interoperability of that layer is the killer feature of Nostr. It doesn’t need to exist in one place or be a destination in and of itself… but if we lose that, I think we lose what’s actually revolutionary here.
Human civilization isn’t built on software. It’s built on coordination between people. Technology only matters insofar as it improves our ability to discover one another, build trust, communicate, and exchange value.
The revolutionary thing about Nostr is that the same identity, graph, content, reputation, and permissions can flow across applications without anyone asking permission.
So while it’s tough to get right, I still think that’s the foundation everything else is built on.

Self hosting doesn’t get you any distribution but yes you can and should still blast to multiple relays (and just build a strong following across interoperable social apps because outbox model- look at how @nprofile…4k44 finds notes for example)

Rather than presenting Bitcoin as an act of rebellion, Satoshi presented it as a better tool.
He never once called himself a “cypherpunk”.
Why? Probably because he understood that freedom tech spreads farther when it’s introduced as an open-source innovation rather than a political revolution.
We can learn a lot from this IMO.
