Yeah Paris way too often seems like a city where cleaning is very rarely done if at all in some places, plus it's a big city so dense crowds are frequent and public transport is a bit of a maze.
Also for Britain, I don't think I got that effect with London. The UK city I remember there being somewhat unfun is Carlisle because we accidentally got stuck there for one extra day and there isn't a pile of stuff to see in there.
