A new day, and a new hope for a life like other human beings live. Night is supposed to be a time for rest after the exhaustion of the day, but life in the tents is different. There is no rest, day or night. As soon as darkness falls, the fleas and insects come out, leaving our bodies covered with painful bites and stings.
People tell us to buy insecticide and spray the tents, but we can barely afford the basic necessities of life. We don't know what to prioritize anymore: firewood, cooking oil, food, cleaning supplies, or now even insect repellents and pesticides.
We are exhausted from this harsh reality. In Gaza, every day brings a new struggle just to meet the most basic needs. May God ease our suffering and bring relief to all the people of Gaza.

"Necessity is the mother of invention" has become a saying we repeat often in Gaza. With cooking gas scarce and its prices far beyond what most families can afford, and with wood fires causing smoke, chest illnesses, and constant exhaustion, we have been forced to find any alternative that can help us prepare food.
This stove is one of the simple inventions created by people in Gaza to cope with these harsh conditions. Yet even it requires oil and a hair dryer to operate, both of which are also expensive and difficult to obtain in Gaza.
We are trying to adapt to this reality in every way we can, but even the most basic necessities of life now require resources that many of us simply do not have. We hope for the day when normal life can return to our homes and our children.

Today, while clearing the rubble of our home, my children managed to recover some of our clothes from beneath the debris. When we were forced to flee, we had no time to take anything with us. We ran from the bombing and airstrikes with only our lives.
Most of the clothes we found were torn, damaged, and no longer fit to wear. I did my best to repair what I could, wash them, and make them usable again. In a time when everything has become unbelievably expensive, buying new clothes is simply beyond our means.

Today I passed by what remains of my home… the rubble that was once filled with life, warmth, and laughter.

The worst thing that can happen to us in the tents is having nowhere to drain the wastewater. We had to dig a small pit in the middle of the tents, but the disaster is that it fills up very quickly. Then another problem begins: the huge cost of emptying it. A sewage truck charges 600 shekels — about 250 dollars — just to drain a very small pit.
And if you are forced to dig a new one, you start searching for things we never even noticed before the war, things we never imagined would become expensive and beyond our ability to afford in these conditions.
Now the pit beside our tent is completely full, and the waste is starting to overflow inside the tents. The smell is unbearable, and we cannot afford the cost of digging another pit or paying to empty this one.

This was our cat “Mishmish” 🐈💔
He was not just a pet… he was a member of our family.
He filled our home with joy and laughter, and we all became deeply attached to him.
When we were forced to flee, he was terrified by the sounds of bombs and explosions.
Suddenly, as the bombing intensified above us, he ran away and hid somewhere. We tried to search for him, but we had to leave quickly to save our lives.

War has truly stripped us of our humanity…

Tonight I finally finished my work in the tent and sat down to rest.
Today was extremely exhausting… every small task feels heavy and draining now. I had to stop and rest between each chore because my body could barely keep going.

Once upon a time…
Years ago, when my children were still little, I used to dream that each of them would have their own room… a warm bed, beautiful blankets, soft pillows, desks, wardrobes, and a vanity.

A new morning for us in the tents… but it is not like any other morning 💔
I wake up carrying burdens heavier than I can bear. My mental state is very fragile, and everything around me only makes it worse… responsibilities never end, and seeing my children and their paused dreams hurts me more than anything.
Today marks the start of a new school term for my daughter, and with it, my fears begin again… new subjects, school fees, and needs I simply cannot afford. I feel helpless watching her dream while I cannot provide even her basic rights.

I never imagined that my mother’s last gift to me would become a memory pulled from under the rubble…
Before she passed away, my mother gave me her Palestinian dress. She asked me to protect it, to wear it after her. It wasn’t just a dress… it was our heritage, our identity, a symbol of who we are as Palestinians.
I was so happy. I used to imagine all the moments I would wear it… every special occasion, every memory I would create while carrying a piece of her with me.
But when our home was bombed, everything changed.
I found my mother’s dress buried under the ruins. Torn, damaged… just like our memories.
Nothing survived this war. Not our home, not our belongings, not even the memories we held onto so tightly.
Our lives have been taken over, just like our land.
