A common refrain has been that India’s culture of “respect your parents no matter what” extends to how it chooses to shape government figures.
If two of of the most centralising (mildly-)anti establishment figures in recent times are plants whose job is to show that daddy Modi/Shah are always right about “antinational” figures and that actually ends up working, the damage is going to be immense.

After Wangchuk being taken away, I’m deeply mistrustful of him as well after his wife’s statements and MASSIVE dilution of their demands.
These leaders may be apolitical and might be charlatans too, but they’ve mobilised kids and young adults in ways that few have in the past decade.
So now, I’m genuinely terrified that the idea is to get it to the furthest possible point before pulling the plug AND outing Dipke and Wangchuk as deeply compromised, rather than this being a more temporary safety valve measure.

Ooooh, I don’t remember this at all from the original anime run, but this definitely is a *much* better portrayal of Winry’s parents’ murder than Scar doing it amidst a panic attack.
But all that said, I feel FMAB is a considerably more coherent story with stronger plot beats (except fully agree on the bothsidesing aspect. But it also doesn’t condemn Scar for killing state alchemists and portrays most of his murders as just, anyway).
I still remember being angry and confused at the bizarre ending with Dante/the parallel universe/the movie tie-in/the random homunculi weaknesses 🫠

I liked it! First half was banger after banger, Manifesto was my SOTM in Dec/Jan.
The fully released album falls flat for me. Not even because of the borderline Hare Krishna parts—not too much of it so easy to overlook—but just that the non-singles are a bit boring.

#3. Ather Rizta: As comfy as the River Indie! Good suspension, plush seating. But feels a lot more sluggish. Not a fan of how much you need to turn the throttle to accelerate well. That aside, same pros as the other Ather. Very ol’ reliable vibes, among EV bikes.
#318372: Bajaj Chetak. Absolute dogshit. Terrible throttle, terrible UX. So many buttons with bad labels. I actively felt unsafe test driving it, and so did a friend who was with me. Stay away.
Still need to test out the TVS iQube—which is super well reviewed—but it’s kinda hideous. Will also try out the Suzuki Access, which is apparently the best scooter in the market—but I prefer how EVs handle.

Big adultTM moment: test driving bikes! Desperately need personal transport to get a lot of life shit together, like gym/physiotherapy/going out more in general.
Will buy one late December when end-of-year deals go live.
Ranking the ones I’ve tried:
#1. River Indie. I have my reservations re: a smaller, as-of-yet unprofitable company. But among the lot, it’s easily the most comfy and accelerated/brakes super well. It’s also quiet!
(Turns out Ather’s acceleration whine is an active design decision and not a tech limitation)
Looks a bit goofy but it’s grown on me.
#2. Ather 450: Sporty, reliable, looks good. Rides well, but because it’s for the gotta-go-fast crowd, its suspension and seating is not as cushioned out as the rest. The existing charging infra for Ather is a big pro.

Sunk about 12 hours into Hollow Knight YEARS after I bought it because of the Silksong hype, QUITE an enjoyable game.
I just wish dying/returning to the point of death (typically bosses) wasn’t such an absolute slog, though.

I've never been comfortable using ChatGPT/Claude/Gemini et al on the web because of the out of sight/out of mind environmental costs; I gave them a stab every now and then for creating skeleton threads for my workplace's social media (that I'd rewrite from scratch, but rewriting is typically simpler than writing).
But now, have spent all of Sunday getting Gemma3 12B (based on Gemini) to work locally on my M1 MacBook Air! It's shocking how good it is, despite being more limited in scope in order to run on a laptop. But even more impressive is how great of a job my laptop does running it in the first place.
The complex-ish queries I ask take 5-10 seconds on the web, and about 90 seconds on my laptop. That's a tradeoff Im VERY happy to make because A) I know more or less how much power I'm using, and B) The obvious privacy benefits of running everything locally on my laptop. No internet involved.

I’d been browsing masto using a read-only service for a few months (one of those newfangled “combine alllll your RSS, podcast, and socials feeds into one!” apps).
The experience was pretty nice, enough to not put me off for that period, but eventually figured that the “classic” RSS feed experience of reading news articles from lists/marking as read was preferable for me. 🫡

Frankly, what I like about this place is that it's nice now, with a decent amount of shitpostery and conversation, but it would also be nice a bit scaled up and buzzing.
I dipped my toes into Bsky and wasnt a big fan of the largely uncurated nature of the whole thing. Either way, Im hoping that Big SocialTM does come crumbling down one way or another.
