I'm posting this to: 1. Get the idea out of my head, and 2. See if it's actually something worth pursuing. I'm sure there are plenty of logistics/budget/policy questions that would need to be answered to determine if it's even something feasible.

Could conferences embrace the tradition and give our artists - many of whom gave talks/lightning talks or created posters this week in #Pittsburgh - a more powerful voice?
In a time where people are unable to attend America-based events in person, this is also something that could increase diversity and democratize participation to an extent - artists may find sending their art (and maybe a video [to be played on loop] describing the art and the process) easier than attending in person.

Conference organizers are some of the most dedicated, wonderful, hard-working people I know, so please do not take this post as an assault, disappointment with the conference, or anything of that nature.
They do a ton already, and this idea might end up taking too much time/$/etc (or just not providing enough 'bang for the buck').

Y'all shouldn't allow me to be stimulated by #Python, friends, & amazing talks for 3 days straight. It gets gears moving too much, and then I become an idea faerie, and nobody really likes those too much.
Anyway...
Why don't we see #art contests or galleries at #PyConUS (& other #PyCon conferences)?
There are SO MANY amazing #Artists in the #Python community, and a screen intended for slideshows (or even a poster) does not really give them an effective way to share what they've created.

Yes, picture 40-something me running full-speed through fields of knee-high grass at 10pm because it absolutely delights my pup 😆
Some folks say not to anthropomorphize pets, and that they don't actually smile.
Those people have obviously (and sadly) never run headlong for a quarter-mile through a moonlit field with a husky. Her pride and her joy are unmistakable.

I woke today fully booted up. Like somebody replaced my ailing 5400 RPM disk drive with an SSD.
Not sure why/how, but I sure wish I did so I could reliably replicate this.
My running theory is that I wore myself out so well sprinting after deer and rabbits and foxes (and searching each trash can and roadside drain for raccoons!) with #LadyDuchess last night that the anxiety and stress of the past two weeks held no power over my sound sleepiness. 😴

While I have gotten a lot of utility from this package, and I think it solves a problem in many B2B SaaS apps, finding the right words/title/lingo to market the package effectively to the community has been a challenge.
The original name was 'flexible-list-of-values', but that did not seem to capture the intent very well. I did a lot of back-and-forth before settling on django-tenant-options, which I hope is a bit more clear.

The tenant can change these at any time. And because we soft-delete options, any previously-completed form will show valid data even if a tenant removes an option from the form.

I learned a ton building this over the past couple years. Even if I'm the only one using it, it has been worth the effort just for my own projects, IMO.

With django-tenant-options you can provide some mandatory options that *always* show in each tenant's form:
- Balance sheet
You can provide a list of options that a tenant *may* include in the form:
- Cash flow statement
- Fund flow statement
And each tenant can add options that make sense to their particular business:
- Bribe summary statement
- Slush fund statement

Well, there are a bunch of potential approaches, and each has some major drawbacks.
- CharField with choices (inflexible, migrate for each change 🙄)
- ManyToManyField with a custom model (complex 😓)
- JSON Fields (no schema/referential integrity 😬)
- Custom models and forms Per Tenant (OMG, please no! 🤢)
The django-tenant-options package gives your SaaS tenants the ability to provide custom options, while you can also add mandatory or optional default options for their forms.

The `showtemplates` command lists all templates in the project, depending on the template engines and loaders that are configured in the #Django settings, and display them in the way you should add them to a {% url "" %} template tag or for rendering in a view.
It's handy in case you're unsure *where* a template is or how it should be referenced.

It's FBV, GCBV, CBV for me.
I'm DRY in most of my programming, but I figure views are usually not usuallt super lengthy, and I like having the whole thing right there in one place, never having to go off to Classy CBV site or elsewhere to understand where/how I should implement a particular method or to find out why some mixin 7 layers up caused a weird quirk 😆

Working away from home the past couple weeks, so my routines and guardrails are completely absent. I get back to the hotel after [dayjob], start working on something, and it's 2am just like that.
Currently running an (undesired) experiment to see how many days in a row I can operate on 3-4 hours sleep before reality unravels.
On about day 6 now.

Frustrating. I haven't used a whole lot outside of Python in the past few years, but suspected it's like this everywhere.
I know I've contributed to this trend myself, but I'm not sure what the better solution is. Projects die - that's a fact of life in software and the physical world.
As a package maintainer, what's the best way to mitigate the problems caused by a project's eventual death?
As a dev, is there a better way to move forward than forking a dead project with a new name?

I'll have to try the emoji thing!
I sometimes get into avoidance loops where I stress myself out over not having completed some (typically trivial) task, and it may take weeks or months to do the thing (reply to a text, drop by pist office, etc) - all the while I'm thinking about it constantly. And then I feel so foolishness after completing what should have been effortless.
Maybe highlighting & scheduling the thing will make it more manageable. Can't hurt to try.

I think thats the biggest thing: my todo list is 400 checkboxes and they all *feel* important 😆
Seriously, though, the list I have pinned in Obsidian right has 72 checkboxes of things needing done for the business I run. But few of those checkboxes are about the *business* side of owning a business 😬
And that's just for my business, and doesn't include todo for work I am doing for my other career (which is maintained in OneNote on work laptop to keep them separated).
I'm a mess 🤷‍♂️😆

The thing about #ADHD is that I have ~50 #Projects in various stages of progress going at any time.
I've gotten really good at ensuring I can get back into a project even after a haitius.
But I am incredibly bad at prioritizing 😣
And because there's 50 projects to pick from, it's super easy to pick one that 1) I haven't worked on in a while so it feels novel, or 2) One that brings joy in the moment, but prevents more important work getting done.
Anyone have tips for better #Prioritization?
