VU university and other Dutch universities have now implemented teaching career tracks: you can make it to full professor with a focus on teaching. And yes, that includes research, but with lower criteria for output and higher criteria for teaching and education management.

we at the university have always had the opportunity to work at home. After the corona years presence did not really come back unless for lectures and staff meetings. And everyone complains about never seeing one another.
Now we ask them to be in for appr 50% of their time and explain why. Because of their own complaints... and indeed, because a lot of our admin work is done in small conversations.
And yes, work that requires concentration can be done at home.

I know exactly how they feel. Dutch universities have more students than 15 or 20 years so, but we receive less money. We received more money from Rutte IV, but that was completely undone by the current government.
Several programmes must disappear it have been fused with other programmes into a broad bachelor programme.

I see 1. no self-control and 2. no insight in what health care is - which doesn't help them gain self-control.
Ad 2: health care isn't mechanical. Their is rarely a quick fix. People regularly expect that.
And then 3: no experience with illnesses and death.
