Hey pals: Someone I like made a tool that extracts still images from youtube tutorials so we can follow them step by step with screenshots as God intended instead of having to constantly be pausing and seeking back and forth. I have LOST this precious resource.

probably the most important tip I have for sewing denim though:
Wear glasses.
If that needle does break, you want eye protection.

yup the thing about hand cranking is that needles bend, then snap.
Hand-cranking is slow and hard but can keep the needle from bending.
There are also machine needles made specifically for denim that can help prevent needle breaks, and a more powerful motor can help.
But really if you're hemming jeans you're punching through two flatfelled seams at once and often the best way to do that is not to - start and stop the machine at the seams and just skip them.

thanks! I sometimes get menswear and tailor it, but I've actually got fairly narrow shoulders and a small neck. Plus I'm 5'7" so it can be hard to find things short enough in the arm.
I generally prefer to minimize my bust but my overall look is pretty fitted--my standard outfit is wide-legged jeans, button-up shirt, and waistcoat.

Getting a bunch of ads offering clothes for "big busted" mascs and nonbinary folks and hope springs eternal in my heart but no, they keep meaning a 4 inch difference between bust and true waist.
I'm glad folks have more options now but words mean things.
(If you're about to recommend a brand, please start with "I personally have at least a ten inch difference between bust and true waist and have personally tried...")
