This. I was going to say that I don't understand the hate. But thinking more about it, I remember hearing tales of how my grandparents hated the machines that were going to "take their jobs" and I can't imagine all the fear that came with that. The hate will continue to grow until something else comes along to take its place. In the meantime, all you can do is meet that hate with kindness and sympathy and pray for them.

It really is that easy. The problem is that for the vast majority of users and even a large majority of systems professionals, self hosting production grade anything is a daunting task. That simple node offers no backups, no failover, likely only a single hard drive which increases risk of failures. TBH most are competent enough but not confident enough to take this on.

I think you're confusing the difference between the exercise of individuals expressing their own creativity and the exercise vs an individual conducting an experiment on a patient.
