Try booking flights in Chile and Argentina. They seem like undercover bitcoin maxi companies and refuse to accept any fiat you throw at them. If you include the time it takes to actually get the booking through, the bus is faster.

Bitcoin exists in the world. Just by being an alternative, albeit fringe, it plays an important role.
I'm a norwegian living in Argentina and the way I transfer money into the country is with bitcoin. Much of my spending is using bitcoin. I use a bridge (bullbitcoin), so the recipients get fiat. I feel like I have one foot in each system, and hope one day I can remove my foot from the fiat side.
Cooption is real (what I mention above is unfortunately quite KYC'd), but so is the development of tools on the bitcoin side. I still think bitcoin will dominate, we're just too impatient. Dominating or not right now, it's there for us to use.
Stack sats, spend sats, enjoy.

Tinkerers, unite! I'm experiencing with OpenClaw, and if I manage to set it up - you can too! I troubleshoot ALOT though 😅
You can use proton by the way, don't need a gmail account. And, while PPQ has better models (sonnet, opus), you can add Maple API for when you need / want private LLM calls.

I'm from Norway and see the same development there, more and more of my friends are using Signal, which is great. There are probably several reasons for that, but one of them is that I have become unreachable on all other messaging platforms (except WhatsApp unfortunately)... Also, closest family members use Signal because they know that's the only place they get photos of my kids.
I currently live in Argentina, and this place is completely saturated by WhatsApp. I have never made a phonecall or sent a message to anyone, personal or business, outside WhatsApp. I can't see Signal standing much of a chance to reach any meaningful adoption here outside the tech and privacy hardliners.

What I'm actually looking for is a way to use bitcoin to pay Pago Facil payment requests. Similar to how the new features from bullbitcoin allows me to pay to argentinian bank accounts (CVU/CBU) or Mercado Pago aliases using bitcoin (that is instantly converted to fiat for the recipient).

You don’t need the app, can use it in the browser. I haven’t tried the app, I think they only have android so far(?)
You need to create a user and use the «Pay anyone»-feature. Then you insert the mercado pago alias. See screenshots.
